  1. Yep, the North is a toss up now, I guess. Why do we play worse at home? I love Rickey T. but he killed us on at least 3 plays today. How would you attack an (over?)aggressive Texas D? As my mother always says, "we ran out of Winstroms." haha.
  2. sounds good. who's gonna beat OU?
  3. yes, it seemed pretty clear we could do what we wanted through the passing game...if our receivers caught the ball. I don't really blame Watson for the playcalling, given the drops. Unless he knew they would drop it, like we might know now, Watson called a pretty good game. What I am suggesting, radical as it may seem, is a return to making the defense protect against the fullback dive, playaction pass (which we had open pretty consistently today), and option pitch (perhaps still bringing someone in motion to set it up). I know it's easy to knit pick after the fact, but that's what we're here for right?
  4. We f'ed up the Texas game. It sucks. Indubitably. We had drops and missed tackles all game long. I watched the same game you did. My question: given the 2 weeks Texas had to prepare for our zone read, why don't we run any kind of play that might include the option pitch? Of course, that begs the question, "why do we fumble so much?" Nonetheless, the option pitch might be, with the defense keying on a(redshirt froshman)running quarterback, a killer weapon. One more exterior layer to cover, right? It just seems weird that neither the pitch, nor the FULLBACK dive, is an integral part of our offense, given our history. comments?
  5. +1 to that and since you have been to Danny K's let me ask you this i am 18 and obviously can't drink...legally....anyway would they let me in? i know some bars will let you in if you 18 as long as you don't order alcohol. But others are more picky and won't even let you in. That's a good question. I didn't get carded going in but I can't remember if there were minors there or not. You might want to call ahead and make sure.
  6. I watched the Arkansas State game at Danny K's last year. There were probably over 300 people there, all in red. There are lots of TVs and a nice bar. I would recommend it for a PPV game sometime (might want to get there early, since it was pretty crowded even for Ark St). Sounds like those of us in SoCal will get the Texas games in our living rooms though...hooray no bar tab!
  7. Thanks for the replies guys. I really do appreciate it. FYI, here's an interesting time-line I found about Husker Power, as it relates to our strength program: http://www.boydepley.com/SchuleFieldHouse.pdf
  8. Hi everybody, first time poster, longtime daily reader here. I'm working on a school paper investigating the sayings "Husker Power" and "Restore the Order," and would appreciate any help with a few questions: From what I've found so far (correct me if I'm wrong), "Husker Power" is what Boyd Epley named NU's weight-lifting program (the nation's first) in 1969. Does anyone know when "Husker Power" became a pre-game chant, though? Was it before they started doing the tunnel walk? If a remember right, "Restore the Order" came with Callahan. Was it during his first year (2004)? Any idea who came up with "Restore the Order"? (guessing SP?) Finally, while I'm at it, any idea who came up with "Nebraska Football A Winning Tradition," which we've worn on our jerseys since 1990? Thanks in advance for any feedback. I really appreciate this board for its information, hospitality, and sense of humor. GO BIG RED!
