  1. You do not wait on a kid like this. You say we got a ride for you and you got a week or we are giving it to someone else that realllllly wants it. Do it the way we are doing it and you most of the time screw yourself. :bang

You're right, because 17/18y.o. kids can make big decisions in two weeks. :o:sarcasm There is no reason to be mad or angry that a young man is not making his decision within a week of being offered a scholarship. Think about all of the variables he has to consider; friends, family, career, etc. Furthermore, would you want him to commit and then decommit because see made a hasty decision (See: Anterio Sloan)? C'mon.

yes, one week at this point in the recruiting season. Like there are other fish in the pond. Now we got like two days to sign someone

Is that fair to the next guy to make that descision in one day. C'mon on man

  2. I think we desperately need a QB with this class. imo the class is incomplete without it. 2011 right now consists of a bunch of project qb's. I think this kid could come in and RS and look at competing to start as a freshman in 2011. I hope they go all out for him.

Completely agree, but 2011 doesn't really consist of a bunch of project QBs. Turner is one, but the 2011 QB recruiting picture isn't necessarily complete yet. Suntrup is a more proto QB and there were rumblings from him earlier, but don't know if we're still in on him.

Ship may have sailed with Cody, but I hope Darian is still in the mix, as others have said.

I don't think we go after Suntrup anymore. He is not what we need for our new offense. I say we find another dual threat/spread guy with similar talents that Green and Turner have.

reality check everyone godfrey no like come here and i think he isnt coming here..... whic means we can try and get a sh**ty QB just for hells sake or do our best and keep the scollie for a kid really excited to play at nebrask and can make a huge impact... i believe there will be a lot of these kids in the 2011 class... godfrey looks awesome but i'm over it......... we can do better

I like this Kid or Cody just as well as the Crane.
  3. Jimney Christmas.

Who are you guys going to listen to?

    Brion Carnes?

    His HS coaches?

the people on rivals or scouts?

or the folks who write the news articles?

I'm listening to Carnes, and if he said he will announce on signing day, then i believe the kid, WKU or NU.

my dog just farted as i sit here and watch a tape delay of the grammys with my chick.....

just thougt i would let you know

  4. ...just logged in for the first time in 24 hours. feel refreshed. had to +1 half a dozen posts that were critical of HuskerCrazy because apparently he fights back w/ the red button. Since I haven't been hit by the red button in at least 24 hours...

How do you make HuskerCrazy laugh on Saturday?

...tell him a joke on Wednesday.

I am trying to set the record for red hits. I still say he is a punk for making us hold a scholarship for him until signing day.I mean is this thing becoming some kind of game these people play for a couple weeks in the limelight. Before you buzz me. There are a lot of people rated high than him that have already declared.

Hear let me do it before you do. dedhoarse HuskerCrazy

  5. How Nebraska is in a recruiting battle with WKU blows me away............

I agree but the only thing that WKU has going for them is their head coach and his relationship w/ Carnes. Only 4 more days of this crap and all of our questions will be answered.

You forgot one other thing. It's alot closer to home for a kid who was never on a plane before he came N.
  6. Say what you want and I'm not trying to change anyone's mind about their opinions much as I know you can't change mine. Even Jeffcoat announced to Texas and he was higher rated. If this kid goes with UCLA he will be a bum as far as many of you are concerned. If he goes N he will be the second coming of Suh. dedhoarse

Right on, A guy who makes N wait until signing day and keeping another kid hanging waiting for that offer just because he wants to be in the lime light is selflessness to the hightest degree no matter where he goes. And most of these people are all the same. Like Beck, Witt and the rest of them that quit because they were not given a starting job instead of earning it.I think it's called a premadona. :madash
  7. I will give HuskerCrazy credit for giving us a cool nickname for Brion. I can hear Greg Sharpe now, "NU ball at the MU 40. Carnes takes the snap, Carnes fakes the handoff, rolls right, Carnes takes off down the right sideline! 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5......TOUCHDOWN HUSKERS! The Crane takes it to the house!!"

After every completion the croud will chant "Whoop! Whoop!" (HuskerCrazy - that was a whooping crane reference in case you are as slow as we all assume you are) (just messin w/ ya man)

In his picture he does have kind of a long neck. I hope he can pass better than most dual threat QBs. Most of them are run and them every once in a while complete a pass.
  8. i dont think anyone that is a husker fan would call another husker fan a cornhead....

BTW Nebraska is one of the only states you CANT shoot "cranes". The platte river is one of the biggest refugees for cranes in the US and they are treated like royalty here.... you see Carnes, NE has got your back already!!!

Comon, The "corNhead" comment is funny even if you are from N
  9. :corndance:corndance:corndance YES!!! This is exciting news, especially the part about HuskerCrazy stop posting. :)

Oh, let me get back in here if you miss me so much. I'm reading everyday. No real news to post about.I really liked the way Cody ran the spread offense but Carnes will be a great dual and I hope I was wrong about him not coming. I hope he can pass better though our current young dual threat QB.
  10. This looks like the same old tired story. I'm afraid, like it or not, Owa is savoring the attention to some degree. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but let's not continue to paint it like he doesn't want any attention/recognition... because he is announcing at his high school on signing day as opposed to just telling the press over the phones before then and getting it over with.

Nebraska came close, but in the end location (whether it be close-to-home or the big warm beach city) and manipulative recruiting almost always beat out great football tradition and a more honest, no-nonsense recruiting approach. Nebraska is the great, handsome, hard-working guy who just isn't ever quite exotic, charming, mysterious or clever enough to nab the ridiculously hot girl.

Good luck to Owa at UCLA or Oregon St. I do think he'll have some regret down the road, because Nebraska seems poised to become a special football program in the very near future, while UCLA is stuck at average and Oregon St. will continue to play third fiddle to USC and Oregon more years than not.

We're not getting Owa this recruiting class. Yea he thinks Neb would be a decent fit but not the right fit- he'll settle on OSU or UCLA.

I agree and the same thing is going to happen with the QB from Florida. To cold and to far.
  11. Jesus, there needs to be a basic Husker quiz that people have to pass to be able to post...

"Cranes" loved his visit and is all but officially N at this point. Some people amaze me with their posts.

Loveing a vist and leaving home when it was your first Airplane ride is a whole nother thing. This kid probably felt a 20 degree temp for the first time in his life. Some people in the south die and have never seen snow their entire life. The kid that comitted to Tenn like his visit and still when back and comitted to Tenn. If he was all but official he would have canceled his trip WV. This is a 50/50 deal.

You do not have to spill right to be right and if you make a lot of money you can let other people check your work . Will see who's right in 7 days and if he doesn't sign with us I'll look you

Fulton is said to be putting up a screen that he is "committed to Tenn 100%." Other teams are still actively recruiting him and we are not at all totally out of it for him.

HuskerCrazy = Cody Fajarno himself or a close family member.

Fajarno, you arent doing yourself any favors at all by doing what you are doing. We know that you are visiting this weekend and if Bo decides to offer you then good for you man. If the coaches want you then I want you too. But dont come onto our board and do this man. It isnt cool.

:laughpound Except I believe it's "Fajardo."

I think the miss-spelling is because of the miss-spelling of Carnes.

    :yeah

    :)

You guys are funny in thinking I am Cody because I said "cranes" isn't coming. I graduated for Scottsbluff in 72. I played Linebacker againist a guy I think was called Rich Bah for the conf champion ship in 71 who played for N. You ever heard of a place called the Gas Light that has some of the best Steaks in Western Nebraska. Goggle it you cornhead!

You graduated? Really? Coulda fooled me. Reading your posts make my eyes hurt! Apparently English class wasn't one of your strong points. :ahhhhhhhh:nutz

Will see who's right in 7 days and if he doesn't sign with us I will let you know about it.

  13. Wow, I just noticed something looking at Brion and Bronson's profiles, which are currently side by side on the 2010 Profile page. According to our stats, they are both 6', but BRONSON is 20 lbs heavier and his 40 is .14 of a second faster. Wow- surprised me. I bet a lot of you would not have guess Bronson would be the bigger, faster athlete off the top of your heads either. Maybe I'm just dumb.

Husker staff is recruiting Bronson as a safety prospect and the gray shirt offer is as a safety prospect so the comparisons may not be necessary. (per rivals) "Means said Nebraska is recruiting Marsh as a safety and not a quarterback."

Bronson's task may be even taller if we do in fact land Corey Cooper.

Either way I think it would be a big mistake not to take the offer. A year as grayshirt, a year as a redshirt and still have 4 more years to earn playing time. Sounds like a no brainer.

I do not think Cranes is coming. To far and to cold. Bo better move on to the next guy. He's got one week

Bo isnt going to take a QB because he has to.

He will get a QB because he wants one in this class. You will see in 7days or less.

  15. Per ESPN: http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4845725&name=Southwest_Recruiting&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fespn%2fblog%2findex%3fentryID%3d4845725%26name%3dSouthwest_Recruiting

    t

Senior quarterback Darian Godfrey (Gilmer, Texas/Gilmer) has a visit set up for New Mexico on Jan. 29. A mid-week visit to Nebraska next week prior to the New Mexico visit also remains a possibility.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder also had set up a Jan. 22 visit to Virginia, but that will not happen.

The problem I have with this report is that Scout has already reported that Godfrey visited UNM last week. Are these recruiting sites that far off that one is reporting a visit last week on 1/15/10(Scout) and the other ESPN/Scout is reporting a possible midweek visit to Nebraska and then to UNM this weekend? School is still in session, so can this senior really travel mid-week to Nebraska and then to UNM????? WTF Doesn't make sense to me.

Scout is confusing, they have an affiliation with Espn, but appear to be affiliated with Fox Sports too.

They better start ring this guys phone because I do not think Cranes is coming.

  17. I just want HI to have a title that says OWA COMMITS

You're reputation just went up 1 point.....congrats

i want to know who gave me a minus 1 point on my rep so far

i just think i'm misunderstoon.......

    Classic :laughpound:laughpound:laughpound:corndance:corndance

    see what i mena!?

He is not going to announce anything today. He watching this great game. I can't beleive how they are trying to knock the old man out of the game.
  18. After watching Godfrey's film again, he reminds me of Michael Bishop from K-State ('97-'98). They share the same measurables. Both are elusive on their feet and can throw on the run consistently.

It doesn't surprise me that K-State has offered him. Coach Snyder probably sees a lot of Michael Bishop in Godfrey.

I agree. The Scout report puzzles me. The kid throws for 9000+ yards with 64% completions and 114 TD's and on film looks to be a great passer --- yet Scout says he needs improvement in arm strength (on film he threw darts), and consistency (64% completions!) and that he is a project. Wow. Based on his film and his numbers he looks to be a 4 start player --- not a 2 star.

Seems to be a great get.

On film (and in numbers) he seems well ahead of Gabbert. Am I smoking something here or is Scout way off?

To your point --- Michael Bishop is the guy who comes to mind. And... of course... Bishop was very, very good.

Were was Joey rated on Scout.com I have watched the highlights on him and he looks good also. If Cranes does not commit by next week it going to come down to this kid or the Cal kid. The drama is driving me crazy. If it gets any worse I may have to go dig in my closet for my cornhead and put it on!
  19. We need depth and can never have enough QBs. If this kid could turn into a gamer, absolutely, absolutely give him the shot...we might not regret it.

Joe Ganz wasn't "talented" or fast...he was just one freakin' hell of a player. If coaches see that potential in Cody, why not? I don't buy into the "not taking a QB just to take one" talk by the way. I still think we will do our absolute best to land a QB as we sure need one. Saying "we won't take one just to take one" is a bit of a coachspeak endorsement of the guys we are looking at - I'm sure they are worthy of offers, but also I think the statement was deliberately made with this idea in mind. Not that it's a bad thing, we SHOULD say that. Do we ever, at any position, take a guy just to take a guy? Even if we had the biggest need in the world, we'd be saying that the guys we look at/offer/accept are ballplayers in their own right. Hence why I wouldn't read a whole lot into the statement - but that's just me.

Right on, The way recruits go you never know who will actually sign next year. They are going to sign a QB this year and I think they are going to tell Cranes you got so many days to sign or we are giving it to another QB that wants it. I trust their judgment and this guy runs the "Waston Spread". But the reason for depth at positions is to let the cream rise to the top like Joey you cornheads
