  1. This article and quote by Watson will tell you the QB competion is wide open and there is going to be a lot of head knocking going on this spring. http://huskerextra.com/articles/2010/02/17/football/doc4b7b45358b898382611147.txt
  2. "billy C" is right again. Carnes will not even be 4th Team. I expect a red shirt. GBRFE Are you kidding me. Last year was some of the worse QB play that I seen in years. It was painful to watch most of the time against varsity teams. I mean come on Guys the second string QB was a freahmen that didn't know 3/4 of the plays. I think this guy might be able to hit someone thats open.
  3. Does he feel he will lead NU back to National Champions again as the QB here? If so, how many NC's does he fell he can he win here? How solid is his comitment to N
  4. Thats why they play the game because you never know and if I was Watson I would get him ready right away to rum the wildcat. He has a lot better moves than Cody and he could pass off it. Lee was afraid to run the ball when he wasn't hurt
  5. They were talking about a spring battle between Cody and Martinez . They seemed not to know much about Martenz. Guys don't quit your day Job becuase that was pretty boring. Come on man. Here is some help on Martienz for you plus some HS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL VIDEO!! Let's getum all out on the football feild and let the best man win.I want Martinez and Carnes get a fair shot. Taylor Martinez is a talented all-around athlete who has the ability to play on either side of the ball at Nebraska. One of six Californians in Nebraska's 2009 recruiting class, Martinez compiled huge numbers as a quarterback as a senior. The 6-1, 185-pounder also has shown outstanding ability on defense and could be a factor in the secondary. Martinez was a dual threat quarterback for Coach Matt Logan at Corona's Centennial High School as a senior. Martinez passed for better than 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns, and completed 61 percent of his passes. On the ground, Martinez added 750 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. His play helped Centennial to a perfect 15-0 season and a state championship, capped by a victory over De La Salle High, when Martinez threw for 243 yards. Centennial finished No. 2 nationally in the USA Today's final prep rankings. Martinez was named the Big VIII League's Most Valuable Player and also earned the Los Angeles Times' Glen Davis Player-of-the-Year Award. A first-team all-state selection, Martinez was also the Inland Division Offensive Player of the Year, was named the Max Preps California Player of the Year and the Golden States Prep Southern California Offensive Player of the Year. Martinez spent only one season at Centennial High School. As a junior, he quarterbacked San Bernadino Cajon High and accounted for about 1,500 yards of total offense. He spent his freshman and sophomore years at Norco High, where he primarily played in the secondary. Martinez was ranked among the top "athlete" prospects in the nation by Rivals.com, while Scout.com listed him among the top 50 quarterbacks. He was listed among the top 50 players in California by both Rivals.com and SuperPrep and Scout.com ranked him as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback on the West Coast. SuperPrep also named him to its All-America team. Martinez only visited the Huskers. He is the son of Casey Martinez and Epifania Martinez and was born on Sept. 15, 1990.
  6. I dont mean to be rude but I strongly disagree. Cody Green will have this team for no less than two seasons. [/quote} That is why this post is so interesting, We all strongly disagree. The only way Cody will start is if he can get better at completing his passes. If he can't improve in the off season and boy he better be working hard at it or he is going the to be riding the bench. Ask Lee about the hook.
  7. We have to really wonder if the problems were the WR or the QB. Probably both.
  8. i'd wait to see what lee can do with a healthy arm, a healthy line, healthy running backs and receivers that aren't first year starters before i throw him on the scrap pile. he definitely has a lot to prove though. his performance in the holiday bowl was a start and he finally looked like someone that actually wants to run the ball, rather than a guy looking for a place to fall down. i do agree that the competition should and will be open. Good Article on Him http://www.omaha.com/article/20100207/BIGRED/702069770
  9. They can always red shirt him because that decision can come at the first game but I got him seriously competing for the starting Job because of the problem we were having at that position last year.
  10. Are you kidding me. He might never not ever get here. Looking at our history of Recruit QBs changing there mind and going somewhere else. I think it a 50/50 chance he ends up here.
  11. He better than Spano and Green right now. I got him at number 2# opening day.
  12. By watching the film it looks like he has run the same offense that Watson wants to run. The college game is faster and Bigger but the plays look the same.Watson has got be pretty excited about working with this guy and I love the idea of Ganz working with the QBs this year. Do we have a interveiw of Watson on Carnes somewhere.
  13. You watch that tape and you know why he was the #7 Dual Threat QB in the nation and the 1# over Cody
  14. They were forced to burn his RS becaue of injuries and QB defection. I think Cody would make a great outside linebacker. I would be drawing wildcat plays for Cranes right now and then passing off it like the Jets did and brake him in that way. If we were deep in great QBs Redshirt him. But right now we can't Redshirt him unless someone devolops in a hurry. If I was Watson I would be Air mailing a playbook and going overing it on Skype weekly.
