  1. We will be fine. We had Braxton and Co. under wraps out of the gate but let him loose for a couple of huge runs since then.

I trust Bo to make the adjustments needed at halftime and get him contained again.

  2. Still so bummed that Mendoza got buried on the depth chart during his time here. Freakishly good athlete as he has show.

    you got to wonder why...........

I really do wonder why. Why can't an athlete like that return kicks and punts? Best of luck to him. Hope he gets a shot in the league.

  3. I just think everybody needs to take a chill pill and quit with the negative thoughts. I'm tired of hearing them, and in no way does it make things improve... ever. Just keep the faith in Bo and the rest of the team. We will be just fine.

If we stick our heads in the sand we won't have to see all the areas that need improving. We can continue to win 9 games a year and get blown out by decent teams and show poorly on the national stage.

  4. Offense: D

Defense: doesn't not even deserve to be given a grade

    Special Teams: F

    Discipline: F

The defense didn't play THAT bad....Michigan was givin good field position a few times and they had so many shots at us cause our offense couldn't stay on the damn field!

Our Defense was bad. Despite the offense's ineptitude, the Defense couldn't get its self off the field. Look at Michigan's drive chart. Two of the 3 play drives were a result of the end of the half. The 1 play drive resulted in a touchdown. We only made them to punt 4 times. Couple that with the fact that Mich was 8-18 on 3rd down conversions and 1-1 on 4th down. The D couldn't make a play when it had to.

Here is the Link to the drive chart. Columns line up in the editor, but not after I post so it makes it difficult to read

  5. Bo said in today's presser that Qvale and Thompson are both day-to-day with injuries. Ben Cotton and Andrew Rodriguez are doubtful for Michigan.

EDIT - here's an updated from the LJS:

Bo Pelini was asked about several injuries Monday.

-- Starting tight end Ben Cotton is doubtful for Saturday's game at Michigan, the Husker coach said. Cotton's right arm was in a sling after the Penn State game.

-- Starting LG Andrew Rodriguez also is doubtful. He didn't make the trip to Penn State because of an undisclosed injury, which I believe happened late last week in practice.

-- Reserve offensive guard Brandon Thompson and backup wideout Khiry Cooper are "day-to-day" because of injuries.

-- Pelini expects reserve guard Brent Qvale to return to action this week. He could be a big help with depth behind guards Seung Hoon Choi and Spencer Long, who played every down at Penn State.

So basically if a guy is out of sight we should just assume he's injured.

At this rate 1/2 the team seems to be injured! Good GOD! What happened to Turner's injury  ?

No I don't think you assume he's injured. However, you assume that the coaches are not playing guys on purpose, and they are mismanaging. Is it fair to assume either direction? No. What's fair is admitting we don't know everything that goes on with the football program.

But I think it is fair to assume that if a couple of the top backup guards are injured, the coaching staff would take an able body to back up the only two guards that make the trip. God forebid one of the starting guards gets rolled up on and tears a knee or breaks a leg.

    Someone's concerned, anyway

Talked with a friend on OPD, who thought that the PA State Police were going to send in about 200 extra troopers for the game.

200 xtra to control 110k people. Sounds a bit short.

I wonder if the administrations have considered playing the game without a crowd. I don't know if this has ever happened before, but only allow necessary personnel into the stadium for the game. Then have police escorts to and fro the airport.

  7. The guy was out cold, and it was pretty obvious at the moment of the hit. If you watch the replay Martin was a little freaked out by it, too - he backed away like he was scared of the guy.

Both players lowered their shoulders to take the impact, it's just that Sparty got lower and took the brunt of Martin's helmet in the back of his head. Not much Martin could have done. That whole sequence of approach, lowering and bracing for impact probably took less than a quarter of a second. If anyone gripes about helmet-to-helmet from this, they need to stop watching football. This was totally unintentional, and the blame is more on Sparty than Martin.

You need to tell this to the NFL Corporate office

  8. What exactly does putting in Carnes do for him? MSU had no timeouts, we're not going to throw the ball AT ALL. What's the difference between Taylor handing the ball off and Carnes handing the ball off?

A bobbled snap, a broken play where Martinez gets his Sh!t rocked because someone screwed up. I agree w/ the OP that both Martinez and Rex should have been removed a early. Especially after we got the ball back around the 4 minute mark. Of course many on this board will bash him for having an opinion contrary to popular opinion. But our team looked beat up after the game. Yoshi should have been pulled early and give Moore some extra time. You've got to protect players for the long season and prepare players for future years. It is all part of building a program.

  9. He's fine. He went back into the game after the training staff pulled him out. From what I saw on that play, it just looked like one of our players came flying in as Crick was making the tackle and knocked his helmet off with their knee. I'm sure it hurt getting that facemask ripped across his face, but he will be fine...

He's fine. He's just not as good as everyone thinks he is. We are now realizing just how much he benefited from playing next to Suh.

I'm sick of hearing every broadcast announcer covering our game all over Crick's jock. They're always like, "one of the best DT's in the country" etc, etc. Just heaping praise on him. For what? He hasn't done a damn thing this year. He had one good season (next to one of the greatest DT's to ever play the game) and people think he's good.

If he was as good as advertised, he'd be taking up double teams and allowing the DT next to him to make plays. If he was really good, he would be taking up double teams and still making plays. But he's not good and neither of those scenarios are taking place.

You rarely hear his name called and I usually only notice him when he's whiffing on a sack or tackling the RB that squirted past him because he got blown off the ball.

    Good call.

  10. The refs were very poor this game. To avoid copyright infringement issues, I have attached links to pictures of multiple instances that were not called.

It is tough to win on the road, but it is even tougher to beat two opponents.
