  1. I thought Nebraska was going to win heading into Saturday, until I heard about this yesterday afternoon. Then, I knew, there's no way they're going to win. The guy didn't die - he got fired for being abrasive and a poor coach.

I'm all for players loving their coach, and loving their team. But, at some point, you have to also you realize your career is also a lot about you. There's also a really good chance that any of these guys who go to the NFL are going to go through AT LEAST one coaching change in their career. I felt as soon as they made this about their previous head coach instead of about themselves, they sealed their fate.

I may be wrong but BO was fired more for the off field and side line action then winning the wrong 9 game per season, if he was Mr nice guy he still be here.

  2. Husker's leading pass catcher I can only dream about his numbers if he had a NFL first rounder tossing to him. His option is like yours, I read it and agree or delete it maybe some of you should do the same. He will be drafted if not he will be prefect for the CFL

  3. We where out coached not out played. Beck with 3 yards to go, why not run once read option with Tommy and the great number 8 should have picked up 3 yards in 2 plays. Beck just out foxes himself game after game

We had a lot of injuries the guys played great , mistakes yes but they played with heart and call here or there who knows what would happen. I'm looking forward to next season the cupboards not bare and with coaching improvements the skies the limit. For the guys moving on thanks for all the great moments and best of luck to all of you.

I'd put the over/under for wins this season at around 7-8. I think Riley will prove to be a superior coach to Pelini, both on and off the field. But it's a transition year and we'll need to show some patience.

Really. 7 wins. That would be tough to swallow. I don't care how nice a guy u are. I would assume our defensive schemes will be dumbed down and shouldnt have a huge learning curve. We have rose, jax, moss, and Alexander coming back next year. Our def should be salty enough to keep us in every contest. Offensively we should at least have enough talent to be moderately successful. If bo could win 9 with Callahans mess I think 9 should be the bar for this staff in year 1.

I agree for seven years the bar was set at 9, if we get pass BYU I see us running the table until we have Wisconsin at home, I'm not conceding the game to Wisconsin. For the most part this board believed coaching was the problem, that has ended with this hire. I expect to see the huskers in the Big 10 championship game winning it maybe to much :koolaid2: at this time

  5.

Homerun hires? Maybe not. But guys who are actually qualified/proven for the job experience wise? Yes.

    Bruce Read: 29 total years.

    12 years at non-power5

    6 years NFL

    11 years at Power5 school.

    Mark Banker: 33 total years

    16 years at non-power5

    15 years at Power5

    2 years NFL

    Trent Bray: 7 total years

    6 years at power5

    1 year at non-power5

    Mike Cavanaugh: 26 total years

    10 at power5

    14 at non-power5

    2 in NFL.

Well hell, I'll plus 1 this and repost it all freaking day long.

With the guys on board plus the two being mention for the O side Dan Langsdorf and Mike Johnson we would have a good mix of young and old

  6. Dan Langsdorf name is mention as the OC

    1996 California Lutheran GA
    1997–1998 Oregon State GA
    1999 Edmonton Eskimos
    2000–2001 Edmonton Eskimos
    2002 New Orleans Saints OA/QC
2003–2004 New Orleans Saints (asst. WR/ST)
    2005–2013 Oregon State OC/QB
    2014-present New york Giants QB

With the names begin put up Dan Langsdorf and Mike Johnson no running back or TE coaching experience

  7. Most bettors are putting money and all there money on USC. If that says anything. Nationally this game is viewed as the lame duck bowl and most of the time, those teams are less interested in the game than others. I guess it depends on who they are playing for, themselves or still Bo.

If they are play for Bo, they come out and will play very hard with some edge. If they are playing for themselves then its going to be a laugher. USC will embarrass us.

I guess, does it matter at this point? Lets get the game over and move on with the Riley era. This game really means nothing right now. Pride, but who cares about pride right now. Future pride is more important. The future is after this game. Do I care how many of these players stay.......no. If they listened to Bo and feel they belong elsewhere, I hope they leave. Its time to rid this program of Bo's fingerprints once and for all after the bowl game. Move on, with Riley.

The last 3 lines questions your loyalty as a husker fan

  8. OK is he suspended over this dead racoon or not.

If he is another player that will not dress against USC , there could be more undressed NU players then dressed players on the side lines. Maybe the undressed players could wear coon skin coats in support of Gangwish

  9. I

    This thing is about power.

When you enter a position of power that was not self-created, it is difficult to manage people who were a product of a previous administration.

I have been in the position myself.

Bo Pelini was Tom Osborne's guy, who fully supported and related to him in a certain way. They had a working relationship and mutual understanding and expectations.

Enter Shawn Eichorst, who only has nominal authority over Pelini because again, he is Tom Osborne's guy. Eichorst is uncomfortable because he was basically handed the keys to a rental building where the tenants have different rules and expectations that he does.

Solution? Get rid of the tenants from the old landlord and fill it with the new ones, who agree to the same rules, so that there is no question about authority.

But how? Politics. Eichorst waited until public sentiment for Pelini was low and then took his chance.

FWIW this is a normal procedure, I expect him to have a great relationship with Mike Riley, because now he has his guy. And I expect him to have one with the players he recruits as well.

It is also to be expected that Pelini is bitter and he will embitter his players toward the AD.

This stuff happens all the time.

Edit- the tricky part is for Mike Riley, who has do clean up after this and deal with some of the embittered players.

That is a hard job. He will have a new staff, so that helps. It will be best if he doesnt hire the existing coaches. I really hope they can come together and play great. I figured that it would take a couple years for the Huskers to rise to prominence again, but now I think it will take about 3 or 4. GBR!

I think this us vs them will gone before the first game in the fall, when you play you play at your best level. MS and his coaches will have the huskers playing at a high level, no worries but sideline attacks, guys will play relaxed and with confidence , error free football back to the TO years.

I like the idea of Riley calling the offense.......I'd rather have the coach responsible for what's going on than just standing around. He has a ton of experience, let's see what he's got.

He isn't just standing around, he's running the team/game. Most HC's were successful coordinators at one time, and most still delegate the duties. It's damn hard to do both jobs well. Hell we just saw that with Bo. I'd have been fine with keeping him as long as he brought in a quality DC. I'd much rather just go out and get the best OC we can no matter of prior relationship or lack thereof. We have the budget, let's freaking use it. There is no need for Riley to wear two hats here.

TO did ok at head coach and calling the game. I think it gives them the feel for game

TO is also one of the best coaches in history, in terms of X's and O's I'd put him up against anybody. Of course some do a fine job as their own coordinator but most are better-off delegating, especially when they have the budget we have to go hire somebody damn good.

I'm not saying not to hire a OC just I don't mind if he called the plays

  12. I went with the last one. I have followed Coach Riley a little bit, living out here. I would have preferred Tressel, not so much on the coaching side, but the big name to light recruiting on fire.

We have a coach that is very highly thought of, by anyone who knows him. Very hard to use negative recruiting against him.

He will have anything he needs to succeed, and with that, I think he will jump a couple of rungs and impress us quickly.

I love being able to say that this man is our head coach, that I am proud that the University is being represented by this man. I have not been able to say that for the last 7 years.

We gave the prior coach a chance he did not deserve in any way. This man deserves our support in every way. He has mine and my families.

I agree except with the last one my family could careless about football

Why have you waited 2 years for the kill, coons, squirrels possums trap and eliminate. Now my neighbor trapped Pepe la pew that was funny but the smell left the neighborhood in a few days

Fed it some dog food laced with hot sauce and chilly powder. It went away for a while but now its back and I saw its tracks in the snow on my deck.
