Yes and no.  They won the portal last year and it didn't work well.  And they're not getting anywhere near the same talent in this year.

They've already had a ton transfer out again this year.  They've added a few back but still...

The OL players they have added are all conference type players from what Im reading. Houston player was all conference and only gave up 2 sacks last year. UTEP player was all conference. UConn player was honorable mention. They are also signing the number one OT in the nation. I hope Im wrong, but an OL that gives Sanders time is going to be a scary offense.

Concern that he wouldn’t want to play with the top QB recruit in the country?  I would hope not.

One of the big reasons he committed here was his relationship with DK.

Yeah, but our defense didn’t stop the last drive did they?  Our defense is our best unit, but let’s be realistic,  they tend to get a little conservative late and let offenses move on us.

I dont actually feel real strongly either way on how they called it late against Maryland. I really do see both sides. But anyone thinking a FG guaranteed a win isn’t thinking realistically. If we don’t get to the QB, our DB’s are getting beat. And we stop getting to the QB late.

2 players didn’t execute on the pick. Purdy threw a bad ball and Coleman didn’t get the hell out of the area and take his defender with him. Who knows, if one of them does it right, maybe it’s a different outcome. I think Satterfield is bad, and I don’t think it was the correct call for the situation (touch pass with a raw QB), but as some point your players have to do things as well. Like #33 last night, late in first half. Comes clean on the blitz but so out of control coming in he completely whiffs on the QB sack. Instead of a 10-12 yard loss and a likely eventual punt, they turn the play positive, move down the field and score.

Players have to make plays once in a while.

I didnt say a guaranteed win. And momentum in football is a real thing. We would have had it and the crowd behind us if we kick the fg. Instead we throw the pick and MD has fhe momentum, crowd booing like one posted already said and thinking here we go again. Huge difference in them letting MD drive down for game winning fg for them driving down for game tying fg with all the momentum at our back. I cant believe so many people dont realize this when everyone could see the mementum shift in the game last night when they stopped us on 4th and 1.

It is what it is though. Just two more losses. Rhule hasnt shown any difference from Frost, maybe even worse in some game management situations. Nebraska will suck for all eternity and another coach will be on the sidelines in 4 years. Its the circle of Nebraska football because the football gods hate our guts for some reason. Maybe we just need to stop clapping for our opponent and instead spit on them like the guy last week because being nice isnt working. I kid I kid, but only about the spitting. Booing and being hostile is fine.

It would have been for the lead. Then a kickoff into the wind likely resulting in a short(er) field for them to attempt a game tying (downwind) FG, or a game winning TD.

Oh no, the horror of putting our best unit on the field to try and win it when they shut them down all game and the crowd going insane because they MIGHT make a game tying fg or last second td! Take your damn chances with the momentum!

People were pissed when we didn't go for a chance at OT last week and tried to go for the win and then pissed this week when we killed the whole clock and sent it to overtime being conservative. Sounds a lot like just being upset about the result and then working backwards from there to decide what you "would have" done

Did you watch the game last week? The fg would have been for the win, not the tie.

So lemme get this straight. Our only points up to this was once again a broken play that was a qb run and a massive pass that was a broken tackle… and you’re confident that we’re scoring 7 that drive, in the road, at night in wiscy

I wish I had your confidence man.  This game wasn’t lost because of play calling not being aggressive- it was lost because once again our kicking game was garbage and we don’t have any receivers that we can count on

Not confident, but at least try.

Right, because it’s not like 90% of this board was demanding satt get fired last Saturday for… wait for it….. being aggressive and take the L

This board man, I fear we’ve all banged our heads a bit too much and our memory in the gutter

Come on man, you know damn well they were two very different situations. Tie game with a cold qb in, could take lead with 3 minutes left with a defense that hadnt given up anything all day at home.

Running all over WI driving down the field down 3 on the road. Get first down and then run 30 seconds off the clock instead of using your timeouts and running it down their throat more. And if they stop it then kick the fg. Dont play not to lose, play to f#&%ing win based on the situation and how the game has gone up to that point.

Well that game couldn’t have gone worse for us

Marcus Freeman took over a program in good shape after Brian Kelly bolted. Hes lost two games in embarrassing fashion this year. He took over an 11-1 team and lost 4 games his first year. If he loses anymore games this year, locals will start to get restless.  The way he lost the OSU game by only putting 10 players out there for two straight plays should have him on thin ice. Notre Dame and Nebraska are in two very different places as programs. If the kid bases his opinion on one game, then I dont think hes the kind of player Nebraska is looking for. I think he picks NU in the end. Rhule wont let him leave.

Shedeur is a lot better QB than I thought he would be, and he's been the main reason CU won games early in the season.  It's also obvious that TCU was overrated, CU got way too much credit for beating CSU in OT (while 3 TD favorites), and the "close game against USC" was also overblown.

Players will want to come play for Deion wherever he is coach,  but what is he doing to actually build a program?  I know recruiting is the lifeblood of a program, but what else is Deion doing?  I think the big unknown with Deion is what is he doing to do once his kids leave college football?  Shedeur may come back for another season because he's making more than $3 million in NIL opportunities, and he should have a better o-line next season.  However, what is Deion going to do after the 2024 season?

It was worth the risk for CU to bring in Deion and give the program and school a shot in the arm.  That also worked for the first month of the season.  But, as I have said in the "First Year Progress" thread, it takes more than one month or one season to build a successful program.

Good players cant always win you games, just look at Texas A&M after their recruiting classes, they are still bad. Development, coaching and culture matter. CO doesnt have a good culture and I dont know if Sanders ever will be able to build a great culture. Its all about him and it always will be. He lets his players run that program. His practices are a clown session. Only a few players shook Stanfords hands after the game yesterday, Rhule made sure he addressed this earlier in the season when we lost. We win as champions and we lose as champions. I dont know if this is accurate, but people were saying Shadeur was selling his merch at halftime last night. Its a clown show in CO and anywhere he goes it will be a clown show.

You cant build a program through the transfer portal. And Sanders has already says he wants 20% high school and 80% transfer to build his program. Maybe Ill be wrong, but I dont think thats a great plan. We will see.

  10. Not going to lie, after the first couple weeks, I was one of the people who said maybe we should have hired Sanders over Rhule. I was wrong. Its starting to unravel for CO just like I thought it would before the season watching their videos of Deion not knowing half his players names and messing around at practice. The wheels are going to fall off now. Rhule talked about building a team the right way without any shortcuts. Sanders took shortcuts and it worked out for a little bit. Very happy we have Rhule and I see progress from Neb. I wouldnt be a Neb fan if I didnt have a little doubt with the way the last 10 years have gone, but my doubt about Rhule is slowly but surely decreasing.

So no new updates on him?  Does this mean that he probably will make his decision after the season now so he can just focus on playing?

Mike Schafer said today on 1620 that he might have already committed just isnt the type of person to make it public. So who knows.

It's was game 5 against the #2 team...

With a garbage offense. What did you really expect? Give it time.

I expected us to lose, but I was hoping we would at least put up a fight or be competitive. I wasnt at the game, but from what I hear from people who were, the team looked disinterested during the tunnel walk and it showed on the field. That is more concerning than the actual results and shows me there is a lack of buy in with this staff.

Just sucks man because people know me on this board and know I was pretty positive with Pelini, Riley and Frost until I couldnt justify it anymore. Hope Im wrong, but right now I dont think I am.
