  1. 2 major earthquakes since this was restarted? Hmm, crazy I know, but what if? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8371662.stm The Large Hadron Collider experiment has re-started after a 14-month hiatus while the machine was being repaired. Engineers have made two stable proton beams circulate in opposite directions around the machine, which is in a tunnel beneath the French-Swiss border. The team may try to increase the £6bn ($10bn) collider's energy to record-breaking levels this weekend. The LHC is being used to smash together beams of protons in a bid to shed light on the nature of the Universe. It is the world's largest machine and is housed in a 27km-long circular tunnel. During the experiment, scientists will search for signs of the Higgs boson, a sub-atomic particle that is crucial to our current understanding of physics. Although it is predicted to exist, scientists have never found it. Dozens of giant superconducting magnets that accelerate the particles at almost the speed of light have had to be replaced after faults developed just days after the collider was inaugurated last year.
  2. I am going to the game tomorrow.. I'm going because it is a fun time for my family. I'm going because it is NU! I'm going so I can show my oldest what it is like at that level.
  3. For me the reason behind this madness is pointing towards Doc, he gets another season but that is it. Part of being a good coach is getting your players to execute that game plan you created ... that is not happening. I want NU to be the best, I don't care who is coaching, NU comes first. If Tom O thinks Doc should stay longer then OK..
  4. No, you made some good points that made me stop and think.. I am just trying to find a reason behind this madness.
  5. 14, 20, 14, 13, 9, 9, 12, 16, 16, 19, 13 TO for the games we lost in order.
  6. We are fans, we're not going to fix anything, and doc isn't making excuses. He himself has said he needs to get guys that can score better. Then why hasn't he? I'll cut Doc some slack ... for now. Next year will be different! Nobody has said a word about why they feel Doc is a "good coach". The reason he hasn't gotten that guy yet has been discussed over and over in other topics. Lack of tradition, support, facilities, etc. And yes, i'm frustrated he hasn't gotten that guy yet, also. Doc is a good coach because he game plans well and gets his players to give 110% night in and night out. He does some questionable things, sure, but what coach doesn't? If you ever listen to a big xii teleconference, tv announcers, or read national/regional writers' articles about doc, every single one of them praises doc for getting nobodies to compete with teams that have FAR more talent. People (including me) question doc's thinking behind playing time, clock management, etc. but the bottom line is he somehow gets trash players to compete against the likes of kansas, k-state, texas, etc. The only real knock you can have on doc at this point is recruiting, because if you watch the games it is obvious that the majority of the time if the talent level were equal he'd be winning. Not a bad post, though I could care less what TV pundits say, and when was the last time you heard any one of those bag on a coach? I would bet never! He game plans well, yes, BUT he is not getting those players to convert that plan like he wants. I am pretty sure he isn't game planning scoring droughts, I am sure he isn't game planning the number of turn overs each week. Recruiting is a very large part of coaching. How many players has Doc had go on to the next level? Seriously, I'm really not sure on this one... How long did it take KSU to turn things around? Do they have better facilities than NU? Time will tell if that lasts of course, nevertheless, they will be dancing while we won't even make the NIT with our "good" coach.
  7. Went to the game Saturday. We played kind of sloppy but even at that we won. Griffin had an off night but was HOT from the free throw line.
  8. I am also starting to wonder about Mike. We have been going down hill ever since the World Series year.
  9. Anybody have good seats for this Wednesday home game they would like to sell? I need 3 maybe 4. I can get GA but was hoping for something better. I want to take a couple girls from my youth basketball team and was hoping for something close to the floor.

  11. plays on a team that doesn't need him to be "that guy." he has a completely different role to fill there than he would have here. what you need to look at are his percentages and ability - i'd say 50% from 3 point line and 10 3s in a tourney game is decent ability Are you saying they are sitting a "go to" player because they don't "need him"? They are so stocked that they can just sit "go to" guys? Really? Hmm, checking the Memphis stats, I see he is actually playing the 2nd most on the team... So he sits for a total of roughly 9 minutes a game... i will say that post I made regarding his career was for 2008 season.. This year he is averaging 11.2 At no point he said they were sitting him. He just said that he doesn't have a role that makes him be the go to guy and the shooter of the team. HIis role is to create mainly for Colemon. Williams would be considered the go to guy for Memphis. True, my mistake! I will just say I am not one that thinks.. "one more player and we are set. Sallie or not". It is my opinion we need several. We will never make much noise without an inside force! I am not sold on Doc. I see numerous things that have not changed one bit since he got here. There's no doubt Sallie would help out the team, even if you don't think the 11.2 ppg is that impressive, it would have still been an unbelievable addition for this offense. And I agree with you, Elliot Williams is the guy for Memphis, Sallie and the others jsut compliment him. Very true, he (or anyone) would have helped, alot, which in itself is saying alot. ANYONE would be a help to this team. Recruiting has been plain BAD! Yes, we lost a few "good ones" but you don't think that comes with the territory? You don't think all schools have to deal with the very same issues we are? The sooner we stop making excuses, the sooner we fix this thing.

  13. Don't get me wrong he would help our team, do doubt!

  16. i don't know if this is fair or not, but i've already made up my mind. it's not being talked about much, but doc is searching for a "go-to-guy" that he can bring in with almeida this year. it didn't get a whole lot of pub when that guard decommitted awhile back, but i'm going to watch and see who doc brings in. he has said multiple times this year we need a scoring threat that takes over the last five minutes of a game, and a week ago he sent two of his assistants out to hit the recruiting trail hard and find that guy. if he can bring a guy in this april that ends up being a difference maker, then i'll give him more time. if he swings and misses and gets no one, he's got next year to win me back and if things aren't good next year, i may start calling for a hot seat under doc with all these other guys What makes you think he can get that player when after 4 years he still doesn't have that player?
  17. One more thing, for those of you who say Doc is a good coach tell me why you think that? EDIT: I don't think he sucks, just that he isn't a Big 12 caliber coach!
  18. and who is this 'good' coach? where does he come from? what about nebraska attracts him? what would he be doing differently? how would he be able to pull it off? why would he decide to come here over a mid-major that can walk through their conference, make the tourney and then wait for a basketball school to come after him? you have as good of a coach as you are going to be able to get. end of story. unless tom opens up the wallet, but that ain't happening. nebraska basketball doesn't have football's tradition or support, it's going to take time. right now you have a coach willing to work his ass off and doesn't mind not getting the support he deserves. this year sucks balls, sure, i'll be the first to admit this is 110% unacceptable, but nebraska was lucky to even get doc sadler, let alone this 'good' coach you're talking about. I'm not the AD. I don't have to worry about finding the replacement! So many questions... All those questions are for the AD, I'm just a lifelong basketball fan on a message board.
