I would not say that Trev is a failure.  I would say that the interest in Nebraska Football is a failure.  The BIg 10 move,  the fact we don't have a natural rival anymore, and we have no recruiting grounds established is the failure.  Money apparently can't bring in that big name we all desire.  Trev is finding out most likely that this job is not that appealing, just like Pedersen, Osborne, and Eichorst found out before him.  This is all if we don't end up with a big name.  I wouldn't complain about Leipold or Klieman, or Fickell.  I would say that Trev is a fine job if we get those guys, whomever it is

Fickell is a Home run hire, that’s why I’m convinced we aren’t getting him. With multiple reports of Trev trying to go cheap and now names like Doeren and Bronco being floated, both of who are awful options. Adding to the fact that Trev fired Frost before the buyout date with no plan on who his guy was means he has been a failure. I don’t buy there isn’t an interest in Nebraska, I buy that we hired an AD who is as incompetent as his predecessors and botched this search.

New Split Zone Duo with Stephen Godfrey (who is as connected as anyone for coaching stuff)

Hearing the narrowed list is Doeren, Fickell (!!!!!!), Leipold

If he had to guess Leipold will be in Lawrence next year with a hefty, hefty raise

Search is "hilariously close to the vest"

We will figure out soon if Trev is the smartest person in the room

Search firm is just doing logistics, Trev is making all the decisions

Compares to USC last year with no one knowing anything until the very end, feels like Nebraska could be very similar with a name out of nowhere

    Out - Patterson, Monken

Late to the game names: Klieman (not being actively pursued in their opinion) and Bronco

    Scratch off Rhule, not happening

Fickell is the only name worth it especially  Rhule is out and Klieman isn’t being pursued. Trev is a massive failure and I’m not shocked.

I agree that Illinois was probably a better team than we had thought they were coming into that one just based on experience alone. Bielema's relative quality as a coach possibly possibly washed out the negative of it being a new staff.

The problem was, even if they were significantly better than we thought, I highly doubt that they're better than, let's say, Minnesota. The reason losing this one was such a big deal wasn't because it was the first game of the year, it was because the B1G West has quietly been getting better and better, and there was a stat floating around that according to one preseason metric we had the 2nd toughest schedule in the country.

So, the tough schedule combined with losing one of the games that we pretty much had to win in order to feel good about going even just 6-6...that's making it look pretty damn bleak.

Illinois is not a better team than we thought. It’s that we are a worse team than we thought.

Well I'm off to bed hopefully I wake up and this was all a dream and it's Saturday morning again. Unless it's a repeat of today I don't want to be stuck in that loop.

2 years in my opinion. We could actually be better and “make progress “ without an improvement on record. Depends how people judge improvement.

Without an improvement on the record is the death sentence. People are over the improvement with no results gimmick.

Colorado OL Jake Maikkula enjoys official visit to Nebraska, eyes decision in coming weeks | Recruiting | journalstar.com

"Maikkula hasn't played center before and hasn't snapped the ball before, but NU offensive line coach Greg Austin told Maikkula that they can teach him that if he eventually ended up at center."

Austin has a proven 2-year plan for teaching kids to snap the ball.

Guys like Deanthony Thomas? Wasn't Wandale like a 4.3 guy in HS??

Anyways, I get how losing Wandale is fine if you have a DAT or a Royce Freeman or a Mariota. We have none of those guys.

It’s alright we have Nixon who didn’t have major surgery or anything as hasn’t played a snap of college ball. Let’s put all our chips on him and downplay how valuable Wan’dale is to this team.

One player is not a team. And if someone wants to go closer to home what can a coach do? Force him to stay? Lol good lord

Well considering he is the majority of our offense and Frost and co can’t seem to keep their best playmakers happy 3 years in a row. When they trot Wan’dale as the face of the program and he bolts cause he isn’t happy that is not a good look, no matter how you want to spin it. This is a kid they had at the revealing of the plans for the new facilities and he just leaves? You’re a dolt if you don’t think it’s a bad look for Frost and this program. And what’s going to be the excuse when he doesn’t go to Kentucky and chooses somewhere else?

Such a clown. And why Nebraska fans are the worst

Clown is the one who is leading this program. Guy is about to lose the face of the program and focal point of offense and people think that is just ok. We are not getting better, we are continually getting worse and worse. It’s a joke that people can even defend this crap.
