If every 15 year old was in prison for sending a picture of their funbags or dong...I would have some pretty empty classes.

Nebraska has 15 year olds on their team now?  Cool!  I thought we were talking about a legal adult who sent child porn, not someone who is still underage sending child porn.  I completely agree with everyone who says that high school kids sending pictures to other high school kids should not be dealt with in the same way as a legal adult sending them.  I guess I just didn't realize that Nebraska had an underage player on their team.

Question to all of you who feel he should be suspended indefinitely, kicked off the team, etc.

Read the scenario below, insert yourself into it and answer the question following:

At a place you work at, a fellow employee goes to the police and claims you assaulted them.  Charges are filed based on this claim and evidence of you and the employee having not so great interactions in the past.  You are arrested (not at work).  A court date is set for 2 months in the future.

Should you be fired from your job?

Just to make this the same thing - you also have a video of the coworker performing a sex act when she was only 15 and to get back at her you send it to her.  Now that we are comparing apples to apples, YES YOU SHOULD BE FIRED!

This isn't a question as to what he did.  He had a video of a child performing a sex act and he sent that video on.   The question seems to be how bad is this really.  If I were the girls father, and someone who was of legal age still had an old video that should have been deleted or reported as soon as it was received and then sent that video in revenge there would probably be an entirely different trial being discussed because that is just sick, wrong, and thankfully illegal.

  3. I think that Nebraska will sweep the non-con games and fall to Ohio State for their first loss.  Young teams have problems on the road and Nebraska's strength is their offense, not the defense right now.  This will lead to a couple of upset losses on the road in high scoring offensive shootouts - I think Purdue and Maryland.  I also just don't see Nebraska sweeping both Wisconsin and Iowa this year, especially if they do have bad defensive outings against Purdue and Maryland.  That puts my projection at 8-4 for the Huskers.

I hope that Nebraska beats Wisconsin and is playing Iowa for a spot in the CCG, and that Iowa gets it done, but I could see Wisconsin beating Nebraska to knock them out of contention and the Black Friday game being a chance for Nebraska to knock Iowa out of the CCG and send Wisconsin instead.  I don't think Nebraska loses both.  In either scenario, Nebraska falls just short of the CCG this year with 4 losses which with tiebreakers drops them to 4th in the West, 1 game out of first.

Actually they have a Heisman winner in Kinnick, they named a stadium  after him and also claim a Natty from I believe in the  50s.Nothing modern era  but they do.

Nope - we don't claim it.  It is on the NCAA books as a shared National Championship since that was one of the recognized polls of that era - but no.

  5. That was a really fun game - I just wish the rain had held off.  It made the 4th a little more miserable than it would have already been with the comeback.  Nebraska's growth this year was astounding.  Down by 15 and they kept fighting.  That doesn't happen the last few years and it almost caught us off guard.  I know many of you look down on Iowa - but I personally hope this turns into a fun game that more often than not is for the West title.

I tried to post this earlier but it wouldn't go. Not sure why. Trying again.

So you're unencumbered by the local Nebraska media pushing a narrative. You (presumably) grew up in a native Big Ten environment, (perhaps) unencumbered by that interloper, Penn State. You know the Big Ten as it was, and should be.

So, Nebraska comes along. They pimp this "rivalry" at us and create that godawful monstrosity of a trophy that both fan bases hate.

Still. I ask you. What does Iowa Fan think of Nebraska? Do you consider us a rival? Iowa has actual real traditional rivals in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Where, (if at all) does Nebraska rank amongst Iowa's actual factual rivals among actual real Iowa Hawkeye fans?

Thanks for taking my call. I'll hang up and listen.

Just like Nebraska fans feelings about Iowa - I think it depends on where you live.  For me, living in Lincoln it is probably number 2 right behind Wisconsin.  The family we stay with in Iowa City when we go to the games - also top 2 because his father in law is one of those bad Nebraska fans that you just know is going to be miserable to be around when Nebraska wins.  For a majority of the fanbase it is probably 3 or 4.  For those that live in Iowa, Iowa State is probably number 1 because if you lose that you hear about it all year.  I think Minnesota would be 4 for a lot of fans simply because they haven't been good in a really long time.

Summary - most probably have Wisconsin or Iowa State as 1 and Nebraska as 2 or 3.

  7. To be fair this was something that I noticed as well.  Almost all of the Husker team was waving as well as all of the Husker coaches.  In all of the other games this year, the active players on the field take about 30 seconds to wave from wherever they were on the field and then huddle up and get their heads back in the game.  That is what didn't happen this time.  All of the coaches and players on the sideline were waving, but the defense didn't.  To be fair they were backed up against their own goal line at the time and were trying to keep it a one score game so they definitely had other things on their mind.  It didn't make me mad or think that they don't like the kids - they just were focused on the game.  By the time they got back to their sideline the coaches were probably turning to start coaching them up.  This is probably also why the band member noticed as the players were right in front of the band when the waving started.  (And yes it was a dumb thing for her to take to twitter about).

The Wave started last year as that was the first year that the hospital existed.  You can see the top floors - including the observation floor where all of the kids that are able to leave their rooms go for the game - from everywhere in the stadium.  Those too sick to leave their room they try to get on the upper floors facing the stadium so they can see as well.  For the first few games last year it was just the fans as Ferentz didn't want the story to be about the team in any way and he thought that the team waving would shift focus, but then one of the visiting teams asked our athletic department if they could wave as well and so the teams and officials started to join in.

    We have a winner.

Nebraska, demographically, is 86% white. Pale skin washes out the black gear.  Even if we got the university involved and handed out free shirts, we'd still have a half washed-out stadium.  No matter what we do, we'll never have the look we're interested in.

I'm sorry but that is crap.  I have seen plenty of schools do a great b*******.  Iowa does one every year and it usually looks great.Cover Photo, No automatic alt text available.

You can't tell me that Nebraksa is any whiter than Iowa and those black stripes are solid.  The problem with Nebraska doing a b******* is there are too many people like my family who wear red because to do anything else to a Nebraska game just isn't done in their opinion.  There is no way they are going to change what they have been doing for 40+ years.  I just laugh.
  9. As far as I know, Iowa doesn't actually "claim" that national title as a national title.  It is in the media guides buried in the list of all of the rankings through the years but I don't believe any special attention is given to it.  No Iowa fan that I know would ever claim that as an actual national title either.

  10. Did anyone know that last years Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong did something unprecedented in College football history?

In back to back games, he was the MVP for Iowa in their game against the Huskers, and the MVP in their Bowl game too.

    BTW,

How is that Big 10 conference working out for you Bugeaters?

Remember how all of you said back in the 90's how you'd kick any team in the B1G's a$$?

To be fair - in the 90s they would have.

You could really make a case for any of the Iowa/Minnesota/Northwestern trio as being your closest rivals in the Big 10 so far. Michigan State would have been an option if they hadn't been moved to the other division and Wisconsin could get there if you can win a few years in a row. If Iowa wins a close game this week then we become tied with a majority of the games being close. Not nearly enough data there to be meaningful, just a snapshot of how your first 6 years in the Big 10 have played out.

ok - formatting is better at least.

    You must be from Iowa

Lincoln for 18 now. Grew up in Iowa and went to Iowa. Like both teams but so far Nebraska is still 2nd :) Get to put Iowa gear on my friends when we win and somehow ended up in a Nebraska cheerleading outfit a couple of years ago. That wasn't pretty. This information was in response to the chatter about who should be Nebraska's rival earlier in the thread. Just got me curious where Nebraska stood in relation to the rest of the Big 10 after 6 years.

  12. Good quote from Mike Riley here:

“It seems like a really great natural rivalry that will just do nothing but grow and become bigger and bigger. I mean, just the proximity, kind of the like-mindedness, I just think it’s a perfect fit that way,” Husker coach Mike Riley said. “The guys in this program see them as, they’ll be a constant competitor for this Western Division deal. So every game will be big, and you know, I think the rivalry part of it will be great for all of us surrounding, the fans, and I think it will become more and more real.”

  14.

I see the whole thing with Iowa as more of a friendly rivalry where each side takes jabs at each other. I don't HATE them, pretty sure most Hawkeye fans don't HATE us, but we still take fun jabs at each other. I feel like more natural hate comes out of us and Wisconsin, and I wouldn't mind them being our rivalry week game, but they already have their thing with Minnesota.

So, basically the same thing we have with Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue....

Don't forget the trophy! (The ugly corporate trophy.... WHY DID I BRING THAT THING UP!?!?!?!? Now I want to go cry)

  15.

The thing I hate most about Iowa Week is how much all the local media tries to push this rivalry thing down our throat.

I honestly think that was as much to try and make Nebraska feel more at home in the Big Ten. We have some truly great rivalries in the conference, but they didn't want Nebraska to feel left out so they just started pushing sh#t instead of letting it develop.

Well, that definitely made us feel at home since we already had that happen with Colorado.

And I know how much you hated Colorado for it so obviously we are doing something right :)
