  1. On TV it appeared to be a good 30-40% red.

Not even close. The visiting team at Iowa gets the first several rows next to the field on the visitors side at both ends of the field - so every time the Nebraska sideline is shown you would see a lot of red behind them unless they panned up higher into the stands. They did have an extra large group of Huskers in the north endzone, which is where several of the field goals were kicked/attempted, that would have been purchased from season ticket holders and then a section up in the corner at the SW where the students normally are but had turned in tickets due to school being out. Other than their alloted tickets and those two extra sections there were just some random Husker fans scattered throughout the stadium in greater numbers than normal but not to that extent.

  2. Don't take it personally - some Iowa fans will yell at Iowa fans to sit down. It happens everywhere.

I will say I almost got to watch a fight in the stands. 2 drunk obnoxious Nebraska fans were sitting behind 2 drunk and obnoxious Iowa fans. It alternated between being funny and being annoying to the rest of us around. Lot of yelling but it never got to blows because the other Iowa fans around were trying to keep them at least calm enough to not swing.

  3. There was more red than I have seen from a visiting fanbase - but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't worse than it was. Saw a lot of Husker fans outside the stadium selling tickets because they lost a lot of their group at the last minute due to the massive weather change which I am sure helped a lot in keeping it under control.

  4. Just wanted to say congratulations to your team. That wind was brutal and did a lot to keep us in the game. I have to say I was very pleased to have the ball with the chance to win late in the 4th - but your defense really stepped up after our first drive.

I hope everyone that went to Iowa City had a good time and look forward to the game in two years when you will no longer have Martinez and we should no longer have an idiot at OC. :)

  5. In a normal year I think we would have kept out a lot of the red - but this year? I fear that for the first time ever I will see Kinnick overtaken :( For all of you going, I hope you enjoy the trip and if any of you are sitting around section 109 row 55 I will be the one in black and gold sitting with my Husker friend :)

  6. So does that mean:

    1. We get Wisconsin back in our division

    2. They completely re-do the divisions so that the west isn't completely stacked

    3. They just add one of the new east coast teams to the west

I hope that with what happened at Penn State and their expected fall and Wisconsin's rise that they fix the divisions to just be straight east/west.

ETA: ACC might end up being what the Big East used to be - a very strong basketball conference with 1-2 decent football teams.

  7. The first instance of refs protecting a top 10 SEC team only took until the very first game of the season. Not sure if Vandy could have pulled it out but it would have been nice to see them have the chance rather than just ignore the blatant pass interference so that South Carolina could be guaranteed the win.

Of course if Vandy hadn't given USC the 10-14 point swing in the first quarter with the interception inside the 5 that USC immediately scored a TD on then the end wouldn't have mattered. At least Minny is holding on so far.

  8. Mizzou's Henry Josey out for season

Associated Press, Updated: August 27, 2012, 7:58 PM ET

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Missouri tailback Henry Josey will not play this year after injuring his left knee in November against Texas.

Mizzou is almost as snakebit at RB as Iowa. Two years ago Mizzou's #1 RB Derrick Washington fondled his tutor while she was asleep. Got kicked off the team in late August. Ended up in the pokey and never played another down of football. Last year their #1 RB Kendial Lawrence broke his leg in September. Missed the whole season except two meaningless non-conf games. THis year they lose RB Josey to an injury from last season that apparently hasn't healed up. I think the AIRBHG has a twin brother: AMRBHG.

That is 3. When they get closer to double digits we can talk.

  9. I chose Iowa because I think that with our stupidly soft schedule we end tied with either Michigan or Nebraska for 2nd place in the division after Michigan State manages to lose to all three of us. So 2 teams ahead of us in our division plus 1 team in the other division - counting on our division to knock off Wisconsin - which leaves us at 4th in the Big 10. That is a jump of 4 spots which is more than any other team is realistically capable of other than Illinois and Purdue. Either of them could conceivably also jump 4 spots in the Big 10 rankings depending on how bad Penn State actually is and if either is able to pull off a few upsets.

  10. v. Northern Illinois at Soldier Field (11-3) Probable win

    v. Iowa State (6-7) Win

    v. Northern Iowa (10-3) Win

    v. Central Michigan (3-9) Win

    v. Minnesota (3-9) Win

@ Michigan State (11-3) Probable loss

    v. Penn State (9-4) Win

    @ Northwestern (6-7) Probable win

    @ Indiana (1-11) Win

    v. Purdue (7-6) Probable win

    @ Michigan (11-2) Loss

    v. Nebraska (9-4) Toss Up

Easily double digit wins, I say they're probably a 10-2 team.

Oh come on now Bucky. You have us beating both Minnesota AND Northwestern??? I don't remember the last time we did that and that was with good teams. We always find new and interesting ways to lose to those two teams. That being said:

    v. Penn State (9-4) Win

    @ Northwestern (6-7) Probable win

    @ Indiana (1-11) Win

    v. Purdue (7-6) Probable win

is the stretch that will determine our season I think. 4-0 that and I like our chances to go 10-2. My gut tells me that this is a 7-5 team with a 10-2 schedule so I will put us at 9-3.
