  1. Enjoy your board Huskers. I am apparently off to learn sign language so that I can discuss topics without speech with an internet tough guy before my first visit there (if it is before his curfew, of course). This place is hilarious.
  2. Yes we have an airport. We are not Manhattan or Lawrence The showings? PLEASE.... Nebraska has NEVER had a problem with the "showings". Where have you been? O....hio? This isn't a move to get more people to come to games, it is simply the networks running college football. This is a sad day for college football, when one of the premier conferences dissolves because of money. I have always been die-hard big red, but am also a Big 12 fan. I am not sure how to feel about Nebraska making this move. I am not a big ten fan, nor will I ever be. Say what you want about KU, K-State, and ISU, but we are leaving these teams out in the cold without a conference. I guess if Nebraska can't win the Big Ten, we could always move to the ACC or Mountain West. Manhattan, though a bit more acerbic, made the point I will. I only meant that we will be very excited to see your stadium and fans, which are both legendary, and that in the first year or three (as teams get their first chance to visit) we will be very excited to visit. I know you have had no problems in the past, I just meant that some welcome arms would be much appreciated so that we could see everything at your school. In short: it was a compliment you absolutely moronic idiot. Crap. I was trying to be nice. (I'm in Manhattan too, ha!) Oh, so you are angry because I don't like the big ten? or what is your problem? I think it is absolutely wonderful, that the big ten fans will now get to come to Lincoln... whatever! How would you feel if Ohio State left the big ten and joined the ACC? I don't think you would like it either, so kma. Those of us with loyalties to both Nebraska and the big twelve are in a bad position now. Since you are obviously the smartest MF in the world, you should realize that not everyone is happy about this move. Finally, if you want to meet me in Lincoln, to discuss this without talking, I will be happy to oblige. http://www.angermanagementgroups.com/
  3. Don't kid yourself... Nebraska is and will continue to lose some fans over this move. It is a chicken-_ _ _ _ move, and that shows loyalty can be purchased. So we should just say goodbye to history? No more Oklahoma / Nebraska games, but I'm sure Nebraska / Illinois will be a show-stopper. What happens now to Nebraska if we cannot win the big 10? Do we go the WAC then? If Nebraska wants more money, they need to start winning more games. I have lost alot of respect for Nebraska and Tom Osborne over this. I know alot of Big Ten fans, and I can tell you right now that there isn't more solidarity in the big ten than in the big 12. You won't find a Michigan fan rooting for Iowa or Michigan State to win a non-conference game, not like you would see a Texas or Oklahoma fan rooting for Nebraska. I can guarantee you that! Is the big ten finally going to start having a championship game? The only reason, and I mean the ONLY reason that big ten fans are welcoming this move, is because they have always thought the big ten to be a much tougher conference than the big twelve, and they all think they are going to march into Lincoln and pound on Nebraska. I can tell you right now, that this move would not have been so welcomed back in Nebraska's glory days! Just think about it. How old are you? How can you have such loyalty to the Big 12? The conference is 14 years old. He can't answer you right now. His mom just called him upstairs for dinner.

I'm sure all the Huskers are threatened by the irrationality, inanity, and lies of a person who hasn't learned the phenomenon of something called paragraphs.

  6. Yes we have an airport. We are not Manhattan or Lawrence You don't have to hate on them anymore. Jesus. You are in a new conference. It is time to hate on, in this instance, Purdue, for example. Or Penn State. I can't wait to see your stadium and atmosphere. . . Other than Penn State, there is no place in the Big Ten for an away game that will match it in my expectations. . . (OSU guy)
  7. I can only imagine the showings you will get your first year in Nebraska from Big Ten fans. I hope they alot more tickets to opposing teams for this-- my fellow Buckeye in Atlanta and I are already planning on going to the first game tOSU has there. We want to see it! (You have an airport right? Not trying to be mean. . .)
  8. I don't believe so. The schools that would be brought in aren't having any problems as it stands now. Exactly. And as the Husker above noted, they don't do these things to begin with. We'll just bring in classy schools. BTW, check out overrecruiting.com. It is a trip to see how bad, for instance, Alabama is. They have 10 too many recruits this year, and need to find "reasons" to get rid of 10 kids by season's start.
  9. Some of the posters are "douchey"; however, I find that it is one of the most knowledgeable sites. I agree - I especially like the fact that the assistant OSURFC head coach is a regular on the forum... But if I were making a comparison between forums and television shows, buckeyeplanet would be Jersey Shore, no doubt. It is not about "douchiness" (I made a word!), it is about the fact that BuckeyePlanet is a user owned and operated forum. We police our own. If you post intelligently you will be adored. If you are a douche we have no problem telling you. It definitely is the most knowledgeable board, and the most free from teenage kids acting like douches with no facts to back up their arguments. It is the anti-douche board. If you have an intelligent argument, just be sure to either be witty or have facts to back it up. Or include a hot picture of your mom (she is hot). Whatever. Sincerely, Douchey poster from BP. (Honestly though, people are easy there. And the board is huge, with many topics beyond football, and it welcomes and respects fans from other conferences. Also, the word "douche" doesn't show up much there, which I think says something. )
  10. Another thing to consider is that the Big Ten frowns on over recruiting. The Big Twelve (and Big East and especially the SEC) use this tactic quite a bit. Also, in the Big Ten if a recruit is committed to one Big Ten university, they cannot (unwritten rule) be contacted by another Big Ten university. RichRod got in trouble for this when he first became coach at Michigan. . . We are the antithesis of the SEC in terms of recruiting, and the Big Twelve was closer to the SEC than the Big Ten in style.
  11. There is absolutely zero chance that the Big Ten would accept Texas Tech. TT comes nowhere near the realm of merit to the CIC, which is worth much more than the television contracts to member universities, and the CIC money is much more important to us in the Big Ten then television money. I am still mystified at how few in the media get that we are an academic as well as an athletic conference-- and the money rolling in for the academic part dwarfs the amount from the athletic part, as lofty as that may be. By all accounts the Big Ten split around $220 million in television money, more than any other conference per team or overall. We also split $6 BILLION in research money for the CIC. And yet ignorant talking heads discuss such ridiculous schools without a chance in the wind at the CIC as West Virginia. . .
  12. what state do you live in This was a long sordid ordeal for many of us, especially those of us living outside the Big Ten footprint, as I do (I live in NYC). Fox owns 49% of the Big Ten Network. Fox owns DirectTV. So what they did was they added all of the Big Ten Network immediately to DirectTV, and then they put a few key games on the network for early in the season. Obviously, many people used to seeing every Ohio State (or name another Big Ten university) were up in arms. This was all according to their plan. Many people started switching to DirectTV. Eventually, this pressure led hold out cable networks, like Comcast and Time Warner, to add the Big Ten Network in certain areas. Now I get all the Big Ten Network channels in HD, etc. My point is that it is not about where you live entirely, it is also about your provider's connection to Fox. Dish has no such connection. So just so you know: Delaney is a shrewd, callous man. In a certain way, that is why I trust him with this expansion situation. . .

  14. Chip Brown also said that Texas has had no contact with the Big Ten-- despite published e-mails that show otherwise. He is being used. Oh, absolutely! UT has Chip Brown, the Big 10 has some TV station in Kansas. Oh, absolutely! UT has Chip Brown, Missouri has some TV station in Kansas. I fixed that for you. No thanks necessary.

  16. Thanks for the doubts in our niceties you freaking cornlover. In all honesty, most of the animosities in the Big Ten tend to be school based (Ohio State vs. Michigan) and often are more of a joke than anything-- it depends. Except we all tend to hate Notre Dame. And you may be surprised to know many Ohio State people get angered by Penn State fans the most, there is a certain respect for Michigan-- plus they've been so cute and docile lately.
  17. Leave me alone. I told you to stop following me. The restraining order does not apply to the interwebs.
  18. Well, this is only because his helmet is so huge. He has to fit in. Welcome Huskers! I am another Ohio State fan raiding your board. If you don't want to chat with inane 14 year olds and desire Ohio State conversation, by the way, go to buckeyeplanet.com. I am very excited to have you in the Big Ten, which I am confident will happen, whatever other conference shenanigans may occur. One thing I have consistently read is that your fans are not only rabid and travel well, but that they are some of the nicest fans in the nation. We could probably use that, with drunken and abusive Wisconsin fans, arrogant Michigan fans, idiotic (but admittedly the best supporters in many ways) Penn State fans, and couch burning all of the above Ohio State fans causing too many rows. I am sure that, despite what I just said, your fans will be treated well. I have not heard anyone with a decent head on their shoulders say that they are nothing other than honored and exuberant at having you join the conference. Here is my quick summary of Big Ten teams for you, much of which is stereotyping, and equally much of which is stereotypical for a reason: 1: Ohio State: I can't really say anything here as a biased party. 2: Michigan: Arrogant. Much less so lately. Many of them want RichRod gone, and I do too because I enjoyed the class that Michigan has had. Their fans tend to sit on their hands during games to keep them warm. 3: Wisconsin: They are great, liberally educated people by day, and they are belligerent drunkards by night. Apparently they also have a secret magical potion that turns offensive lineman and running backs into beasts. 4: Iowa: They are totally just like Ohio State and Michigan. Let them tell you. 5: Michigan State: They are our dual personality team. They'll beat any team on a given day, then go lose to a directional polytech the next. Their fans tend to be a blast. This school is famous (along with West Virginia) for taking the recruits that Michigan and Ohio State avoid for academic or behavioral issues (and not because it is a bad school). Perhaps this has some effect on the inconsistencies. . . 6: Purdue: Great offense at times. They helped bring a more spread-like feel (along with Northwestern) and attack to the big ten. I went to one game there: AVOID THE WOMEN. They are hard to recognize: you have to get close, and that is the danger. Even Purdue students recognize this. 7: Illinois: Ron Zook? Really? I guess they hate Indiana or something. I don't know. They should really have a good program, at least they have basketball. Oh wait. . . 8: Penn State: I forgot about them. They are ridiculous frat boys in behavior, and they are also the only school that can successfully engage an "insert color"-out. This is probably the hardest stadium to play in. Ohio State and Wisconsin are behind them. 9: Minnesota: I've always liked them: their teams and their fans. They just finally got their own stadium. They are expected to get much better pretty soon. Not much else to say. . . 10: Northwestern: Fitzgerald is awesome. This team may get very good very soon. Despite attending such a good school, their fans are not arrogant and are very welcoming. I felt like I was at a high school stadium there though. . . We outnumbered their fans and the biggest chants were "NERDS! NERDS!" at their less than attractive cheerleaders and "SUN! SUN!" when the sun came out because it was cold. 11: Indiana: Um. Basketball? At least they have potential. I have personal problems with Indiana. I won't go there. Cheers. (Edit: Hey there Muffler!)
