  1. And THAT is why Chip Kelly is a great offensive coach. Great call on the shovel pass.

Of course he's playing to win. He's not playing to lose but it was a lousy decision. It was the 3rd quarter and he was down by 8. If it were the 4th quarter with 2 minutes to go that's a different story. The zone read on 4th down near the goal line, the attempted 'reverse' on the kickoff early in the game which almost turned out to be a disaster. For a game of that magnitude one big gamble is probably too much when your team's only down by a few points.

I don't like the zone read or the reverse, either. But the fake punt worked great, as did the early 2 point conversion (which is the only reason they were able to tie the game up). You can blame the loss on Chip Kelly's gambles, but without them, it wouldn't have even been that close. You can't point at any number of reasons Oregon lost this game - interceptions, the safety, crappy pass defense, dumb luck for Auburn... but not much of it do I think you can really pin on Chip K...

Sometimes gambles work Herc and I see your point but I'm in the school of you can only gamble so much and expect to win. More than one big gamble in a game like this?

      Good luck.

And your right, Oregon's pass defense was pretty lousy tonight to say the least.
