  1. CBS guy said that he'd only drop Bama to 5. I call BS and I'd drop them below Auburn at 8(only undefeated SEC team that's looked good while winning).

Dropping Bama to 5 is perfectly reasonable. They played top 10 teams the last two weeks and then went on the road to play another ranked team that had bye week. Sure most people thought they were an unstoppable juggernaut that would still win but it's not shocking that they lost.

We have to earn our spot in the top 5 and will have the opportunity to do that the next three games.

You gotta put them below SC and Auburn though I would think...

I thought I heard Herbstreit and Brent say they would put them at #3. That would be ashame if that was the case. Yeah it is Bama but they lost. Time for others to have a shot. Hell they dropped Texas 12 spots in one poll and 14 spots in the other. When the #19 ranked team is 2 TDs better than you, that should say something as well.

  2. Why does anything that come out of Kansas press cut up the game series to reflect a skewed picture of the series? Really from 1998-2004? Why this time frame? So 80's don't count? What about the rest of this decade? What happen to 2005-2009? Of course they'll try to pull out of their asses that they only count the years Bill Snyder was at the helm. Well then we shouldn't count the years that Osborne wasn't at the helm for NU. You can't have both ways k-state!

  3. The only team I won't cheer for out of conference is Texas. Everyone else though I root for especially against the SEC schools. I'm tired of hearing that the weakest SEC team would whoop up on the strongest Big 12 team. Well it looks like the SEC failed the litmus test. One of their top tier teams fell to one of our bottom feeders. SEC fans are almost as bad as Missery fans. Almost though.

  4. Maybe we shouldn't press the panic button on defense. Should we for offense? Against SDSU when we had to and our backs were against the wall, our defense rose up to the challenge and stopped SDSU from scoring. They were able to up their level of play. You can't say the same for the offensive side of the ball. Our offense showed that if someone game plans to take out that zone read, we have no answer for it. For all intents and purposes we were in a dog fight with the game very much on the line in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter and all our offense had to show for it were punts and picks and to put the win back on our defense. This is a red flag for 2009 repeat.

  5. While I agree that playing the SDSU's of the world makes no sense. Strength of schedule is crap if you ask me. Play one decent team in the non-con and call it good. If you go win your conference, Big 12 or Big 10 next year, you'll be in the national title hunt, flat out. It simply doesn't make sense to load up with more than 1 good team in the non con.

Once conference gets rolling, the SOS will even out, somewhat.

    Bill? Is that you?

  6. I'm looking at guys who are either already in the NFL or that I've read or have heard are on future NFL prospect lists.. I might be missing some so feel free to correct or add to it if I am...

    Enderle 16-31 141 yars 1td 5int

    Jake Lockear 4-20 71 yds. 1 td 2int..

    um.. that's 2 td's and 18 interceptions... Seriously, that's unheard of..

    All hail Bo and Carl!

(honerable mention hail to Suh and the defensive players that I'm sure had a little to do with that too :worship )

According to Todd McShay's reasoning, these QBs happen to have bad days. It was nothing Nebraska did. :wtf

Todd McShay stock up and stock down

Interesting things he had to say about the huskers

    Stock up

    Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez

Martinez aced his first road test as Nebraska's starting quarterback, rushing for 137 yards on 19 carries and completing seven of 11 passes for 150 yards and his first career touchdown in the 56-21 blowout of Washington. The redshirt freshman seemed unfazed by the crowd noise or the pressure of the moment, and Nebraska's offensive line dominated the Huskies in the trenches, generating plenty of room for Martinez to operate the option game and giving him plenty of time to find open receivers.

Martinez already had showcased his instincts and speed as a runner during the first few weeks, but his efficiency as a passer is what surprised me most on Saturday. Nebraska is doing a nice job of limiting his reads (typically half the field or high-low) and the types of throws he makes (mostly short-to-intermediate routes), but Martinez deserves credit for making good decisions and having his most accurate outing in the toughest environment to date.

    Stock down

    Washington QB Jake Locker

Locker completed just four of 20 passes and threw a pair of interceptions in Washington's ugly home loss to Nebraska. Stats can be misleading, so I went back and studied all 20 of his official pass attempts -- as well as his unofficial third interception, which was erased because of a holding penalty -- to see whether the reality matched the perception of Locker's performance. Unfortunately for Locker, it was not too far off.

In Locker's defense, the Huskies were completely outclassed from a talent standpoint on both sides of the ball, especially in the trenches. Nine of his 17 misses were a result of poor pass protection and/or his receivers failing to get open. However, Locker was squarely to blame for the eight other misfires, which ranged from errant throws to poor field vision to terrible decisions under pressure.

  7. My point is that if we all think we will demolish them and the odds concur, then surely they must know the odds of them winning is very slim. Soooooo...then they must resort to trickeration. Gawd I love that made up word. :laughpound What does Snyder pull out of his magic hat?

  8. This is Bill Snyder's last shot at Nebraska. He will try to make this his "we are again among the big 12 powers" game.

My thoughts are he will live in the Wildcat formation. Use DT as the QB with Powell as the read option back. DT was a QB when he first arrived at K-State. In the past, Snyder saw what worked at NU and made it his own. He will do the same and use the Wildcat with DT and Powell as the option read RB.

What other trickeration do you think will be hiding up Bill Snyder's sleeves?

  9. Compare Zac to that whiner Tate Forcier at Michigan - we're lucky to have a stand-up guy like him, who appears to be taking his demotion like a man and doing what's best for the team.

I tend to believe he was not demoted but beat out. Difference being making lots of mistakes with bad performances, therefor being demoted for not performing well. He simply got beat out by a better QB for this type of offense.

  10. Yeah I agree that our defense will keep us in our games, but shouldn't we be passed that? We don't want to be a 2009 repeat. "Offense sucks but our defense keeps us close". We need to evolve beyond that. Our offense needs to step it up and quit making mental and stupid mistakes. We need to go "Oregon" on their butts and roll up 700 yards! :)

  11. Lightening don't strike twice folks. First freakish ISU game, now we replay the ISU game only with a different team. I never in a million years would think we'd dump the ball on the ground AGAIN like we did that horrible day vs. ISU. Something is fundamentally wrong going on on the offensive side of the ball. They need to figure it out in a hurry otherwise this will be a long year for our Huskers when conference play start. Give Missouri 8 turnovers and we'll be launched back in time to the Texas Tech game. Let KSU get in our red zone from bunches of turnovers and see what they'll do.
