Wats had a good day. Hes smart again. Minnesota should take notice.

Taylor Martinez will eventually be very good. He played with poise and patience today and had a great game. I still saw some freshman mistakes, but it will get better.
Pelini's defense learned the limitations of playing man 2 man in a dime D with a 215 lb LB who could play SS. Pelini made some adjustments in the 2nd half he did play 2 LB's more, but the adjustments should have come sooner. He could mix in some zone to stop the under thrown lob pass.
Pelini enjoys playing on the road. Good Win!!
Texas sucks

I think this is a good thread zoogies. It seemed to me that the play calling in the run game changed dramatically when Lee came into the game. It seemed to me the zone read Martinez ran had the RB attacking outside the Tackle and the QB attacking the Guard Tackle gap, while the zone read Lee ran had the RB attacking the Guard Tackle gap and the QB going to the Center Guard gap to the opposite side of the line. Im sure that the running attack under Lee was much more between the tackles and much more effective. This could easily been due to the TX D expecting pass.
Martinez is just a freshman, and I feel like he forces things with the zone read. I also wonder if the play calling could protect him from forcing things.

is it just me or do you think Paul runs his mouth a little bit too much? i prefer he keeps it shut and focuses on delivering on the field.
He cant help it. Its the stupid WR virus, the same one that affects TO, Ocho, and Mike Irvin.

I expect to see plenty of man to man coverage from NU. I just dont know who will cover Blackmon more. Im almost ready to say Dennard is better than Amukamara.
-
Be nice if he was going to the Armour AA Game as a QB. It is still a special honor that Jamal Turner should be proud of.

Its like I never knew you.

In Chicago Tribune on Oct 11. He plans on taking all 5 visits. Hes been to Wisconsin, BC, and NU. He gave both Wisconsin and BC an A.
-
Loved his visit, and I cant tell that anyone else is recruiting him. Hope he makes the grade.

I will look to last year when Bo shut down the offense. Martinez is a fumbling machine, a very exciting fumbling machine. Lee is boring and inept, but less likely to put it on the turf. What do you think Bo will do when turnovers cant be overcome and he decides to shut the offense down?
-
I have no problem with the D. I know TX got yards on the ground, but I dont recall any big plays. It is a different defense, but I think it will work well against NU's schedule.
-
Dude wont wrap up, consistently gets penalized, just plain isnt as good as he thinks he is. Badly missed 3 tackles and had a face mask called against him.
Sit the man down. I like what Ive seen from Courtney Osborne and Anthony West was working at saftey.

I have checked this thread 5 times today while rubbing my lucky penny just before the final click. I could use some medication to ease my Greenitis.

I think the fans put more into this game than anyone else. This includes the coaches, the players, and most of all the recruits. It was a great atmosphere yesterday in Lincoln. I think the atmosphere is even more important to these recruits than the outcome of one game. NU should be able to pull in the kids we all think they will as long as they rebound and the wheels dont come off.
Might not be today. Rivals and Scout dont work on Sunday, but its coming.

Dropped passes could have cost NU the game today, but it also was lost in the run game. Everything went outside to the strength of UT's D. UCLA killed that D running between the Tackles and NU waited until the middle of the 3rd quarter to attempt this. I dont really know what to make of Martinez's game, not sure if he was making correct reads in the run game or if the play calling changed.

Im not over it.

Com On Man, Lee and Martinez were running two different plays. The question I have is why cant Martinez run Lee's zone read.
-
NU ran 2 run plays. When Martinez was QB zone read with the RB going outside the Tackle and the QB hitting the Guard Tackle gap. When Lee played the zone read went with the RB going to Center Guard and the QB hitting the opposite Guard Tackle gap. Those were the only 2 run plays I saw called.
-
Did anyone notice that the offense ran 2 different zone reads. With Martinez in the QB attacked the Guard Tackle gap and the RB swung outside of the tackle. With Lee in the RB attacked the Center Guard gap and the QB went to the opposite Guard Tackle gap. These were the only running plays called the whole game. Martinez's play wasnt working and Lee's play was. I dont understand why Watson continued to call the outside zone read and why the change in run plays required a QB change.
I'll give credit to Wats when it came to working in the pass, but I do it with anger.
I want to put this on here once more, because I think it is absolutely ridiculous.
-
I thought the O-Line did an excellent job in pass protection. Both QB's threw the ball pretty well. Gilbert was 4/16. The run D gave up yards, but no big plays.
I hate TX.
-
Funny...when the offense was rolling along and piling up yards and points, no mention of wanting to fire Watson. One bad game that can be placed squarely on the players shoulders and all of a sudden the Fire Wats bandwagon makes a showing
Thats what happens when you cant adjust your play calling. If a play dont work, dont use that play. ZONE READ
-
Did anyone notice that when Martinez ran the zone read the RB went outside the Tackle and the QB went between the Tackle and Guard. This was ineffective. When Lee ran the zone read the RB went between the Center and Guard and the QB went between the opposite Guard and Tackle. This was more effective.
I think both threw the ball pretty well and the line protected well. I dont understand why our running game is limited to 2 plays which each require a different QB. Really I believe I saw only 2 different running plays.

At the half of MU OU game I believe Mizzou has a better defense than they have had in years. Im not too impressed with their offense, and I believe it plays into the hands of what NU wants to do defensively.
That being said, the Big12 is very confusing to me right now.
