  1. nebraska as a whole.....don,t seem to recurit well.. the new kids coming along today don,t look at nu as a top notch football program, at least the 5 star studs...i recently looked at 23 unsigned 5 star kids, and not one even had nebraska on there list.....recruiting is huge in college football,,,cannot recruit the good kids, you are just another iowa

Stop with this crap. NU has never recruited better than they have in the last 4 years. T.O. never had more than one top 10 class. Aside from one year due to a small class Bo has been top 15-20 the last 4 years. That is about on par with what T.O. did and better than Call "dumpster fire starter" ahan.

If your going to put this out there, give us some facts to back it up.

  2. I am 100% on the fence here.

One one hand if we could get a head coach like Petersen or Franklin, a slam dunk hire. I say do it. I am not sure NU can do this.

On the other hand I still remember a new AD bumbling around a coaching search, constant airport watch, and getting the dumpster fire starter. I feel bringing in a cordinator would lose us one or two years before our recruiting could pick up. I like Pelini, like the way he runs a program.

We seem so close, then fall flat on our face. Is it time to start over? 100% on the fence.

  3. I don't think Bo said anything out of line, aside from the f-word. Getting to the point, we knew he was pissed with the media and it is OK for him to be critical of our fan base. It sounds bad, but I don't make too much of it.

Other people wont think the way I do. Either Bo rallies this team around this negativity or he gets fired.

  4. Why not Mark Richt from Georgia? He's proven himself on the field, he's a good recruiter, is familiar with Nebraska...

...while I would be loathe to see DoNU getting into a bidding war with a SEC school for a coach's services, this is one war worth waging if we truly want a replacement for Bo that could come in and have success immediately.

I am not ready to fire Bo.

Wouldn't NU be a step down for Mark Richt? I think we over-estimate the Nebraska brand, while coaches looking at the recruiting limitations.

With USC and Texas looking to fire coaches, along with Washington if Sark moves to USC, Florida if Muschamp falls on his face, even if Georgia Tech has another flat season. Where among these does Nebraska rank as a place to come in get talent and win for a coach? We are getting possibly the third best guy available or Scott Frost. I think Scott Frost will be a good head coach, and better than the "hot guy".

Not ready to give up on Bo, check back in November.

  5. I don't know where 2 start.

I don't think anyone needs 2 be fired.

I think Beck could have tried to grind out some first downs in the 3rd quarter instead of throwing the ball too much, I think he got too cute. i think this was his worst game as OC and I think he will get better.

I think the D played pretty well for being so young. The offense has to help them out and keep them off the field. I know they gave up a lot of yards today. That is going to happen when they are on the field that long, but they showed me improvement.

I don't know what's wrong with Martinez, I guess he didn't turn the ball over, but this seemed like the worst game I have seen him play in a long time.

  6. The thing I am thinking about last years UCLA game is that we had very little tape on Hundley and what Mora would do. What game tape vs Rice and somebody else, I didn't check.

I do think that will level the playing field, coaching wise. Bo got out coached in the Rose Bowl by a sly Jim Mora. Give Bo a year, and see what these young athletes can do on D.

    I think this favors NU.

  7. I am more worried about Hundley running, than I am passing. I would like to see us keep 2 LBs in versus going to a dime. Maybe walk a DB down for a more traditional 4-3 look. Nothing is more demoralizing than a long run, especially by the QB.

Sure we may get beat a couple of times over the top, but I would like to make them one dimensional if possible. Our DBs seem pretty opportunistic this year also.

    Thoughts?

Nathan Gerry is a hybrid S/LB in my opinion. This makes the personel of the dime and the nickel the same, only Gerry is playing a different position. I think we will see Zaire in the base 4-3 more than the last 2 games. I do wonder if Afalvala or Santos will play over Gerry against traditional teams that run less spread.

  8. Santos was consistently getting beat by the RB running a crossing route against WY. He looked like Compton vs UCLA. Banderas was able to cover that route much better and looked better overall.

Santos had a bad day, but it is kind of hard to judge a MLB playing dime all night. Who's to say how these LB's will look in a base 4-3. There's no reason the LB package cannot change from base to nickel to dime.

Top 10 Total Offense Games Against Nebraska

    10. at Oklahoma, Nov. 20, 1954 (80 att.) 577

3 games consecutively in the Top 10 most yards allowed.Cosgrove's pathetic defense in 2007 wasn't that bad. UCLA will be Bo's litmus test for the season. If they get over 600 again on us, then this is going to be one long year that Bo may not survive.

its not about the yards man, its about the points.

  10. David Santos got killed all night on crossing routes. Bando looked better and Gerry made some plays.

The D-Line looked young, gaping holes in the running game. They looked like lineman though, not like too skinny Stienkeuler, not like too small Merideth. RG44 looked good.

I believe the D-Line will get better, I am worried about the LB's although we didn't see much of them with so much dime.

I do wonder if college football has caught up with Bo's system. I question whether a MLB can cover a RB on a crossing route, which Bo requires his MLB too do in his man 2 man system. In 2009 Phillip Dillard succeeded as an average MLB because nobody had figured out Bo's system, I remember OU running the RB flare over and over and an average MLB can stop that. After that Lavonte David came onto the scene, an above average MLB. This may be the key to Bo's D and I wonder if that MLB is at NU.

  11. I see relevance differently than some. I dont see it as having to be champions or being in such a mix year in year out to be relevant. Nebraska gets talked about. Whether it's our fans, Team jack at the ESPY's, facilities, conference move, or even Bo's tantrums, Nebraska gets talked about. That's being relevant in my opinion. Indiana? Purdue? Kansas? Iowa St? That's irrelevant.

Iowa St did something similar for a kid during their spring game and it barely got any run in the Des Moines Register. I am not sure Bo wants the ESPN pub that Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, or Bob Stoops get covering practice and all. Nebraska won't be revelant as a NC contender till they get over the hump, but Bo gets on Rome. What is your definition of revelant?

  12. I was a huge fan of Tyler Moore. And regardless of what people think about Tyler Moore, you have to admit the guy has talent. He's the caliber of physically gifted OL recruit that we see once every decade or so. Imagine how good our OL would be if Moore had stuck around. Imagine if he had the mental drive of, say, Spencer Long. It's just too bad Tyler Moore pussed out.

Just because he stayed at NU doesn't mean he would be any good. Andrew Rodriguez hasn't exactly lived up to the lofty status he came here with. It is what it is, he's playing RG and that's not a good sign.

  13. What exactly can be done to the South Stadium besides putting skyboxes at the top?

Tear it down and start over and make it more vertical like it is supposed to be.

This. Imagine rebuilding south stadium so it connects with the east and west finishing out the shoe.

That would look nice, but wouldn't increase revenue any. Wouldn't cost too much to improve the concourse and add another big scoreboard.

I do like the south stadium the way it is, old school just like when I was a kid.

An arraignment for former University of Colorado lineman Alexander Lewis -- who, along with CU quarterback Jordan Webb, is accused of assaulting a man on University Hill in May -- was postponed Friday as he mulls a plea deal offered by prosecutors.

Lewis, 21, faces one count of second-degree assault and two counts of harassment.

At Friday's arraignment hearing, prosecutor Bruce Langer indicated the two sides had reached "the end of negotiations" and that Lewis was considering his options before deciding whether he will take a deal or proceed to trial.

Lewis is now scheduled for arraignment Aug. 16.

2nd degree assault and 2 counts of harassment. That dosen't sound too bad. I'd let him sit a year and see if he can stay out of trouble.

2nd degree assault gets you almost 6 years in prison here in Oregon. Minimum. Probably not that different in Colorado.

Edit: Looks like a mandatory 5 years in Colorado.

thanks for the legal research since I was way off. Time to give up on this one.

  16. Bubba made the right call, he was a tippy-top draft pick and got ridiculous money. Remains to be seen where Harrison would get drafted and what he'd get. Could be he'd be better-off sticking with football while working-on raising his MLB draft status playing college baseball.

    Khiry Cooper thinks that's great.

  17. Any support out there for a men's soccer team?

Any support out there for a men's soccer team?

I don't remember what article it was mentioned in, but it mentioned that UNL is only really looking at adding women's sports at the moment.

No support will ever exist until we have a women's counter-sport to add at the same time. Title IX.

    :yeah

I would guess that men's hockey would be next and even that is down the road quite a ways.

The facility is there to add men's soccer and women's field hockey or women's lacross. I just think it would be kinda cool to compete with Creighton in men's soccer.

Men's hockey would be really cool, but is going to take a lot more $$.
