  1. What isn't being said is that Texass could give two s***s about the rest of their conference (shocking, I know)..., but they're biding time, waiting for ESPN to buy out the Bevo TV deal and then they'll move to greener pastures. That's why they're stuck in the Big XII right now, in spite of their flirtations--if they allow the B1G or Pac-12 to repurpose Bevo TV, they don't get the contract bought out and Texass loses out on that money.

    And Texass. Let's not forget they're a viable target that has been talking with the B1G.

    An interesting thought this gave me. The new B1G deal in 2016 is projected has been rumored to push the B1G's average payout to 35-40 million I have read. That would be the amount Texass receives in the BigXII, 25 million about, plus Longwhorn Net, 10 million. The B1G adding Texass and creating BTN2 out of LHN along with ESPN would be a huge money maker for the B1G. Just sayin, the money makes sense.

  2.

    edit: I should probably post the criteria

    1. AAU

    2. Contiguous

    3. Flagship University

    4. Top Research school

    5. New markets

    6. academics

    7. athletics

    If this is the criteria, how did Nebraska get in? The B1G had to know there was a strong possibility NU would lose AAU membership when Wisconsin and Michigan voted to kick them out of the AAU about 6 months after NU accepted an invitation to the B1G.

    I really hope the B1G adds FSU. UVA does nothing to excite me, UNC does little, and GaTech does a little less.

    Why wouldn't you want every advantage to steal some of these guys?

    This locks down DC/Northern Virginia as Big Ten territory. No SEC and ACC teams in the area now. A very talent rich region.

    You are also getting into a state that produces a ton of skill position talent.

    1. VaTech is deffinetly in the area, arguably the premier local destination in the area.

    2. I am not interested in adding UVA for their recruiting or their TV markets. I am interested in adding quality programs with top notch facilities. UVA does not meet that. Neither does Rutgers or Maryland.

  4. Probably has something to do with him not qualifying.

    Not sayin you are wrong about him qualifiying. How does a guy fo JUCO for 2 years and not be able to qualify? Just how sloppy does he have to be with his school work? Is there no tutors available at his JUCO? I took a few courses at Iowa Western over a summer, it was so easy. I don't see how anyone puting in the effort couldn't do well.

  5. To date Nebraska is the only tier1 program t o move in this era. Every other move from. Mizzou to Maryland has been adding a school that brings a new tv market without threatening the W-L record of the existing powers. When it happened the idea that atm could upset Bama was a joke for the boards.

    If aTm is not a teir1 program (the arguments against them being teir1 are valid) they are as close as you can get to that group.

  6. So if this indeed does go down in the next month or so.

    UNC --> Big Ten

    UVA --> Big Ten

    VaTech --> SEC

    NCST --> SEC

    FSU --> Big XII

    Clemson --> Big XII

    GIT--> Big Ten? Big XII?

    Pitt --> Boned

    SU --> Boned

    Louisville --> Big XII?

    Duke --> Big Ten? Boned?

    Miami --> Big XII?

    Wake--> Boned

    BC--> Boned

    so, who gets the best deal here? How can UVA be more valuable than VaTech?

    Academics?...

    academics don't add tv sets. In this scenario, the B1G gets the worst deal of the 3 conferences.

  7. So if this indeed does go down in the next month or so.

    UNC --> Big Ten

    UVA --> Big Ten

    VaTech --> SEC

    NCST --> SEC

  8. by the way if GIT and UNC are indeed #15 and #16 then they will need to be "bridged" to keep the Big Ten contiguous. Only one school can do this(that the Big Ten is looking at) and that is UVA(who historically has been tied to UNC in almost everything)

    17 school conference is awkward obviously so most will expect another team to be added with UVA. This could be where Kansas comes in since there wouldn't be anymore Eastern timezone schools they would take unless they had to take Duke.

    I think UVA would be a terrible addition, and now we're talking about taking Duke? I don't like where this is going at the moment.

  9. 247 has him listed as interested still, do we have any shot?

    I was wondering if we have been talking to Johnson, if we are still actively recruiting him.

    I am sure some schools have droped him entirely after his knee injury. Seems Johnson has been very quiet as of late.

  10. I now have extreme gas from hearing about everyone talk about Kansas, UNC, Virginia, Duke, and all of the other schools who don't care about football. I previously had gas from hearing about everyone tout the additions of Rutgers and Maryland. Great!! Now instead of playing Ohio St we get to play Maryland, that sucks donkey.

    I am tired of these additions for their market value. It does nothing for the quality of play on the football field, which is all I care about. Academics be damned, I don't care about that either. I want football schools, FSU Clemson.

    Dont think it will happen, just needed to vent.

  11. Completely agree HSKR.

    A conference with New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, DC,Detroit, Twin Cities,Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Columbus, Atlanta, Charlotte,Raleigh, St. Louis and I can even throw Kansas City in there because I bet there are a bunch of Husker fans there(5 of the top 10 and more than 20 in the top 50)

    Recruiting in Two of the top 5 states(Ohio,Georgia) and adjacent to another(Florida), Big Ten states could now include or be next to Alabama,Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey,Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Missouri and Illinois. That's pretty exciting.

    Personally I would prefer FSU and UNC because my goals are for recruiting while the Big Ten's goals are for markets but adding GIT in a top-4 state wouldn't be too shabby.

    I'd like to know how far FSU is from potentially applying for the AAU. I heard they are close.

    I believe they have applied for AAU qualification and been denied. I have tried to dig up some research on how close they are and it is hard to find much. Receiving AAU status is in the school's mission statment. They have a serious inferiority complex when compared to Florida which is a AAU member.

    If the B1G adds two more ACC schools and one of them is not FSU I will be very disappointed. The B1G had to know Nebraska was going to loose their AAU membership, hell Wisonsin and Michigan voted against them. If there is further expansion FSU's brand should trump AAU membership.

  12. I agree about Curry and Valentine though. They both look the part and both very physical guys. The question is and always will be do they understand Bo's scheme enough to see significant time and will it be before they are seniors.

    My question is can they stay healthy.

  13. Marrow has left to Kentucky. Not every GA can be promoted to a full-time assistant, and I take it as a sign of a good coaching staff when some get poached. I have moved on. Speculation will continue as to the future of Barney Cotton and who will replace him.

    How much value does anyone place on Joe Ganz? How much does anyone credit Ganz with the development of Martinez? Is he worthy of becoming an assistant? I know I would hate to lose him.

  14. The BigXII's grant of rights pertains to 1st and 2nd teir rights. Leaving each school to retain their 3rd teir rights so they can create BevoTV and have nobody watching. This has a value of $200 million and is more difficult to negotiate in court than a exit fee.

    Kansas is off the table for the next 12 years.

  15. I can't believe Wisconsin wouldn't pay top dollars for assistant coaches Bielema wanted. A lot of resources, a lot of success, and your pinching pennies? This isn't Purdue or Illinois.

    Makes the whole conference look bad.

  16. Woody...Do you think UNC will go any where without NCST? I have read that they are tied at the hip along with everyone on Tobacco Road.

    Would UNC leave NCST, Duke, UVA, and other founding members of the ACC? Would Maryland have left if they were in a stable financial situation and weren't desperate for the money?
