  1. I just noticed that Nebraska has faced some pretty poor defenses this year. In fact, the only top 50 defense that NU has gone up against kept their offense completely out of the endzone. Here are the national ranks of the defenses of Nebraska's FBS opponents:

    6

    65

    84

    97

    98

    100

    Average Rank: 75

Interestingly enough, South Dakota State has one of the worst defenses in all of FCS (98th out of 117 FCS teams).

This is one the primary reasons why I think Saturday's game will be tough for the Cornhuskers as Missouri's defense is probably going to be able to slow down the NU offense and be able to force some turnovers. Nebraska has been awfully careless with the ball, even while playing pretty poor defenses. Missouri's opportunistic defense could be the difference in the game.

You have an argument about us being careless with the ball, because we are. However, your team will have to translate those turnovers into points against our defense. Good luck.

  2. personally i dont see a let down or how it would happen. Needless to say I would be Pi**ed if there was one:

#1-top #15 team on the road

#2-this is the 5th in a row this game decides the north winner

#3-two teams dont really like eachother

#4-last year of the game for forseable future

    #5-lost to Ne last year

#6-watched NE dance around on your field last year

#7-recieving little to no respect nationally

#8-every one is picking you to lose.

Thats about 8 seconds for me to think of 8 quick reasons why three will be no let down.

Those are all really solid reasons. I could have made a list like that before the Texas game though, and yet...

thats true also. couple of differences though, NE had a major issue before that game with putting the ball on the ground and the continued to do so against TX. And hands have been a question for your WR (given, mostly for Paul) but those things came to the front to cost you in that game. MU doesnt have faults like that.

With that said though, as a Tiger fan I can tell you it would not be the first time they pee'd down their leg if it happens. :(

I think the biggest reason if a loss comes your way this Saturday isn't because of your players, but because of Pinkel. You guys always have good ball players at the skill positions, but over the past 9 years Pinkel has gone 67-46 (.593) overall and 36-36 (.500) in Big 12 play.

I think we come out on top, but only because of the coaching staffs. I think ours will make the needed adjustments, just like we did against Oklahoma State last week, and will (hopefully) slow down the Tigers.

Missouri is a team I love to hate, but here's to hoping for a great game this Saturday! :cheers

That record has to be taken into context. If you just lay it out there your think Pinkel sucks. However, when you compare it to the previous 9 seasons for MU you see its not bad at all. 40-61-1 (.392) and 23-44 (.343) in big 12/8 play.

Then when you look at what he has done since able to lay the ground work and started to really build it gets even better. Just looking over the last 5 1/2 seasons since he started to really turn it around, 05-present, he is 52-21 (.722) and 27-16 (.627) in conference. Over that last 3 1/2 he is 37-11 (.771) and 19-8 (.703) in conference.

Eh, since 2005 Missouri's Big 12 record has been:

    2005: 4-4 (2nd)

    2006:4-4 (2nd)

    2007:7-1 (1st)

    2008:5-3 (1st)

    2009:4-4 (2nd)

With the exception of one year (a heck of a year at that), Pinkel only has an average record, at best, in conference play. If you go back further, it gets much worse than that.

That being said, I still think that Missouri is going to give us fits. SDSU put up 250 rushing yards on the ground against them, but almost 160 of those came off of two runs. If you take away those two long runs, the 90 yards on the ground is right around their average rushing yards/game they give up. They shut down the Illinois QB by putting a spy on him, which is most likely what we're gonna be seeing from them on Saturday to take away the zone read option.

I'm curious as to what Tigers fans think. If Bo and our coaching staff start making adjustments, do you have faith in Pinkel to make adjustments to our adjustments?

  4. I have a sister and brother-in-law coming to their first Husker game this Saturday. I was planning on taking them around the stadium and showing them around the new 'Nebraska Experience' room and all of the new renovations that they've done recently.

I checked out the Visitor's Guide that's online and it said that they don't have any free, guided tours on gameday, but does anybody know if it's open to the fans to go in and walk around? Also, does anybody know where exactly the room with all of the Heisman trophies and other awards is at? I'd love to see that and take them with me.

    Thanks for any input!

  5. It looks like we play into each others' strengths. Their rush defense is the best part of their defense, while our rush offense is the best part of our offense, statistically speaking. Our pass defense is the best part of our defense, while their passing attack is the best part of their offense.

I think this game comes down to turnovers and I remember seeing a stat pop up during the Oklahoma State game that said we have turned the ball over 22 times at home this year. If we fix that, I think we have a good chance of winning this game.

  6. Saw the Oregon-UCLA game. On one hand it was sad because this pathetic UCLA team beat Texas. On the other had, no way we are close to MNC...Oregon would crush us.

I like our defense and we do that better than Oregon but we are a poor man's Oregon on offense...and I don't really think the issue is TMart. The Oregon QB is not a stellar passer or faster than TMart. He just has ALL DAY to throw behind his O-Line and has WR's that are quite good (two luxuries TMart does not have). And then he has a Heisman weapon out of the backfield. And they are conditioned, up tempo, and NOT sloppy. Oregon can put a number of QB's in their system and they will do quite well.

No doubt an Oregon offense with an NU defense would be a title contender every year. It is an extreme no brainer to bring Scott Frost back to NU. Oregon is giving us a picture of what we need to do on offense and then just tweak to our personnel. I like our O-Line recruiting. I like TMart and Jamal Turner running this style offense. Aaron Green, come on down. WR's...we need to grab some playmakers in a major way. Also, how about using the TE again!

we desperately need an O line and an O line coach........same old $hit, just a different year at NU!

Having the 4th best rushing attack in the nation, even after the Texas game, isn't indicative of at least an average offensive line? I'd say we're in pretty good shape up front.

U sir, suck! Haha ya had me all excited for nothing!

WOW, talk about raising my blood pressure for a second.. until I scrolled down an inch. :LOLtartar

  8. IMO he just seems to freeze up when somebody gets in his face. I'm not saying he can't become one of the great runners, just an observation.

I would feel more comfortable with this thread in the shed, but oh well.

i think you see it a lot when he gets flushed out of the pocket. i think it is more of a problem of him not having much pocket presence and not knowing how to take a sack.

    Yeah, that's probably true.

I agree that he doesn't have a whole lot of pocket presence. The guy always seems to be hitting or bouncing off of the offensive lineman when trying to find a receiver.

  9. this might be a good sign on his facebook he is now friends with alonzo dennard and jamal turner as of tonight

I'm friends with Dennard on Facebook. Doesn't mean I'm committing to Nebraska.

Yeah but do you hold a scholarship from them?

Are you asking if they've offered me a schollie? If so, the answer is no. But that's only because they're complete fools. I can punt like nobody's business. Coach woulda put me in in the fourth quarter, we'd of made State. No doubt in my mind.

I can already see the measurements. Knapplc: 6' 5" 265 lb :star :star :star :star :star Punter. He can also throw a pigskin a quarter of a mile.

    Suit up! :woo
