Kids these days. UT's unis are classic.

Was high on Newby out of HS, and was impressed with a lot of what he did last year. It just didn't look like he was ready for the college stage mentally quite yet. He must be something special if arguably the best running back in the nation is raving about him.

We don't need a QB that is the fastest guy in the field if we can get a 2009 level defense out there. We will need a game manager.
This is a good point. While we would all love to have a Vince Young or Johnny Manziel esque playmaker kind of talent, we really don't need it to get to the place we want to be. I kind of think of (or hope to see) Tommy as being a Zac Lee 2.0 Same mold, just a slight step up. Doesn't have a cannon, not a burner although he can definitely run, will know the offense and what the coaches are asking of him and be happy in his role. We were essentially three single plays away from being 13-1 in 2009 with a decent-turned-mediocre quarterback (due to playing injured) running the helm and taking care of the ball. If our defense can take that next step and Tommy can too, we should have bright days.
On a related note, I rewatched through the Georgia game last night and came away a lot more impressed with his performance than I originally remembered. Nothing that made you go "wow", but more than anything he had really good pocket awareness, didn't have any of those throws that went to nobody, and generally made really good decisions.
Pretty much agree with everything you said, except I hope to God he's better than Zac Lee. That offense was so inept, I got to the point where I couldn't wait until we got our defense back out there. They could atleast get us good field position for a FG, and probably had just as good or better of a chance to put 6 on the board.

So I've been thinking how much Randy Gregory reminds me of another Randy, Mr. Moss. They look pretty similar, are extremely long and possess freakish athleticism. This led me to thinking about the possibility of #44 moving to the offensive side of the ball in redzone situations. I don't know too much about his hands, but he was a really good basketball player so I'm sure he would be alright. He would be a matchup nightmare who could out muscle and out jump pretty much anyone. Also, while we do have a really promising receiving core, I don't see anyone who could fill that redzone, body-up, fade route role (except for maybe Moore) like Quincy was able to do last year. What do you guys think?

Am I the only one that is a little surprised Westerkamp doesn't play in the "Z" receiver role? I know he's been working as the "A" or slot guy since last year, but I always saw him as an outside guy athletically as well as being a very good blocker.
He probably doesn't quite fit the mold of the Zs we've had recently. Burtch, Allen and Enunwa are all 6-3 while Westerkamp is "only" 6-0. Pretty similar to Kenny Bell so he could move to the outside at the X spot next year. But it's not a bad thing to have an explosive guy who catches everything working out of the slot.
No, not at all. Lot's of good competition at wr this year. Should make everyone better.

Mitchell is an INSANE athlete. He is also however, comically uncoordinated and just generally not good at football. Would probably be a good pass rushing prospect if you just told him to go get the qb.
Check out this dunk:

Had the chance to watch Fyfe play a couple times in high school. He was about as good as you'll see in Nebraska. He had arm strength, accuracy both in and out of the pocket, and mobility. I figured he would get an offer from a lower tier D1 school and do very well there. I'm looking forward to see how he's progressed in the spring game.

Heard from a pretty reliable source recently that it's going to be Armstrong, and there really isn't any competition. Who knows, and we'll find out a bunch once the bullets start flying who's gonna be the guy. Does anyone know if Darlington is going to play in the spring game? Just green jersey it up like we used to.

Doesn't mean much as already stated, but I really like Roach. He's a great athlete (at least pre-injury) and should know what Bo wants on D.

On Drake's instagram there is a video of the whole 40. I had him at 4.25-4.3 every time. Usually I'll time a few that on the combine for fun and am pretty consistently within .1. He ran a low 4.4 at worst.
-
13 is totally fine for a db, especially one with long arms. It really matters very little. Tomorrow he'll be getting rave reviews for his athleticism fluid hips. Special upside.
-
Interesting idea. I would think NU would be top 10 for sure. Great players at most every position. I would say USC, Miami, and Texas would be the top 3 in whatever order.
-
Strange topic, but he'll run a 4.5-4.6. If he runs a sub 4.5 he's going to be all the rage.
-
Haven't watched near as much film on this year's class. I love Darlington, but I really think AJ Bush was underrated by the different recruiting services. Also, not an unheralded guy, but I LOVE DJ Foster. I think he is going to be the best guard we've had for many moons.

Russel Wilson is better than I thought he was, and I already thought he was good. Props to the Denver defense for keeping Lynch in check almost the entire game. Wilson kept a lot of plays alive with his feet and made some excellent throws. That Seahawks defense....wow. Enough said.
Congrats to Seattle and Seattle fans. Savage Husker is the only Seattle fan on this board that I've seen have the balls to fess up to it prior to being Super Bowl Champs. Now some of you jock sniffers will surely come out claiming to be Seattle fans or fans of RW or whatever, but he'll, many of you have made your bandwagon status pretty clear by the way you follow and support this Husker squad....so, again, I'm never surprised by Huskerboard.
Knew how much a win would've meant to ya True. I got mine tonight, so I won't be too upset if you get yours next year. With that said, Manning aint gonna get you there. There's about 3-4 defenses in the NFC just as, or close, to as good as the Hawks. Don't think Osweiller is the guy either. You have some real nice, young pieces at several spots on both sides though.
I'm beginning to think its going to take a dual threat like RW or Kaepernick......something like that to win it. The position is evolving. I like osweiler but he's no mobile guy either. You guys have all the pieces, no kidding. A repeat may be realistic.
That'd be nice. But in honesty, the only way Seattle's lost this year was against great defenses, and frankly bad luck (literally Luck in Indy). Having Miller makes the Broncos much better defensively, and I think his presence would have made things closer tonight. Need more youth/talent in the backend, and more depth up front. DRC and Trevathan are great players.

SI.com: The blueprint for beating Richard Sherman? Target him early and often.
Breaks down Atlanta's plan of attack in last year's playoff win over Seattle and suggests that Denver is well-suited to a similar one.
Ya, bold strategy. A corner gets beat 100% of the time he falls down.
-
He'd have to play nickel in the NFL, and I don't think he has anywhere near the athleticism to cover slot guys at that level.
-
How cruel would it be to the rest of the league if the Seahawks ended up with him?
They probably would take him if he's available in the mid rounds. Guys like Jeremy Lane, Walter Thurmond, and Byron Maxwell (all who could start for nearly ever other team but sat in SEA) are going to garner big money on the market. They do have another big corner though in Tharold Simon. Baptiste is probably better than him though.

I certainly don't mean this to be a bash against SJB even though it's going to sound like it, but just about everything I'm reading/hearing in regards to his draft stock going up is based on his size and athletic ability. I'm hearing very little mention of his film. Love it or hate it, a lot of scouts see the body and ability they're looking for and move players up accordingly.
Now, to drink the koolaid a bit for our staff, he was a WR switched CB only within the last few years. Making a complete position change like that in college is extremely tough, and our coaches did a remarkable job getting him to the point where he can even be in this discussion with all things considered.
I've read a few things mentioning his fluidity, ball skills, and physicality on film. Don't have a link but I know I've seen it. I do think it would be best for him to go in rounds 3-4 and sit for a year or two to get coached up. I don't think he's a pick and play guy in the NFL.
-
Doesn't his rant remind you (and disturb you) that this smacks of WWE?
Are NFL players going to hit each other on the sidelines with fake folding chairs?
Well that guy from the 49ers did deck a Seahawk gunner when he got pushed out of bounds, so I guess yah...
-
The sad thing is, Richard Sherman is actually a very intelligent, hard-working, caring dude. The best teammate you would ever want, and a guy who is great in the community. A very down to earth guy. But he just says stuff like this, and it ruins his reputation, as well as that of the Seahawks. I can't defend it.
