  1. If Shawn Watson were to get the boot who would you predict would take his place? My husband and I were wondering about that and he wondered how Scott Frost would do in that position. Scott is at Oregon right now. Would he be a valid candidate?

    -ladyhawke~

I could see Scott being a candidate. Probably a strong candidate too.

  2. NU was at 7 and two teams lose before them and they go to 8. Bullchit Championship Series.

LSU to no 5. They won't even win the SEC west. LSU should have at least 2 losses. Remember an inept Tenn team that should've beat them.We don't deserve to play for all the marbles but we did have a 3rd string QB in the game yesterday.

NU should have at least 2 losses. Remember an inept ISU team that should've beat them.

I know what you're saying... but thought I'd point that out

The difference is, you win a close game against a 5-4 team from the B12 on the road and you fall in the rankings. Win a close game against a 3-6 SEC team and you will climb for beating an SEC team.

The media is still googoo over the SEC. Plenty of one loss teams were left and they kept the Bama wagon alive saying they're the only one loss team that would deserve to make it in. Now that they're gone, LSU will be their new one-loss pony to ride.

  3. I could give a sh#t about our standing in the BCS. We're not playing for a championship and frankly we shouldn't want to with our inconsistent team. We'll make a BCS bowl if we win the Big 12, even if we drop another game (aTm).

    1. Auburn loss

    Or

    2. Oregon loss

+ us winning out could put us in the title game. Us winning out puts us at one loss with wins against top 15 teams Missouri, OkState, and (not anymore) Oklahoma. We could climb over BSU and TCU in my opinion. Still need Auburn or Oregon to fall.

  4. Yes linebackers will be crucial for the big10

Actually, even though the Big 10 has a reputation for being a 'smashmouth' conference, they are far from it. Our defense which is set up with smaller/quicker LBs will be just fine. OSU, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern, and Penn State all like to run the spread offense. The only true traditional smashmouth teams are Wisconsin and Iowa.

  5. People on here really make me sick.... calling for a loss with 8 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Seriously?

You're the type of fan that leaves a game at memorial stadium with tons of time on the clock.

Yeah, it's amazing how much negativity there is. We are winning. We were trailing by 3 when people were saying we're going to get destroyed. I don't care if OSU has 3,000 yards of offense as long as we are up at the end.

  6. Need to get the guy covering Blackmon some help. Also the D on the flea flicker was horrendous, looked like Dennard and Smith were jogging after the play instead of going after it.

Offense Martinez has been impressive throwing the ball. And overall the offense has done pretty good, but the defense needs to step it up if they want to win.

I'm not real worried about the passing game. Blackmon, as I mentioned earlier only has 3 catches. One of them was for most of his yardage on the 80 yard flea flicker. If not for that play, Weeden is 10/20 129 yards and a pick. I can live with those numbers. I'd like to see us focus more on the running game.

Huskers will roll in the 2nd half.

  7. So now it is Watson's fault that our WRs and RBs drop sure passes today?

It is his fault that, as warned before the season even started, that Taylor is a great runner but a horrid passer?

Here is a reality everyone needs to accept for right now - with Taylor, you will find big plays with his feet, but when facing teams that can hold him in check, he is useless. He cannot read a defense, does not have the arm to get passes into windows, short arms throws to guys who are open, and fails to give his WRs opportunity to get YAC when he does hit them.

He's a runner, and nothing else. When forced to be a real QB, he will not succeed. Basically, we have zero passing attack with him under center, and are limited to being nearly a solely running team.

And as hard as it is to believe, Zac Lee runs the zone read better than Taylor does. I know someone will see that and think I am crazy, but from what I seen today, it is absolutely true. So many times this year Taylor has made horrid reads on the DT or DE that has actually hindered us from gaining more yards than we have already. With Zac, his key reads were completely different and actually had the defense guessing on who they should take.

I will not even go into passing. Zac is on another level.

But more than anything - Gilmore needs to be fired, yesterday. I've said it for years how worthless this guy is, and today it showed even more. I'm still waiting for the first WR to develop and flourish under him.

Niles Paul - you deserved to be benched today. You think you are a #1, but yet you play like a 230lbs version of Frantz Hardy.

Hopefully today was a reality check for a few players and their egos. Same for a few coaches on this staff. Quit with this favorites BS, and play the guy who earned his spot.

Did you even watch the game today?

Martinez was on target with nearly every throw. Drops everywhere killed his passing performance.

Watson never said Taylor wasn't a good passer. He's stated many times that he is one of the better passers he's worked with. I think it's entirely Watson's fault that he would run zone-read on 1st and 10, 2nd and 9, and then throw on 3rd and 8. If not it was zone read all 3 plays. Granted the WRs were struggling but you have to give yourself a chance to win. There was no way Texas was going to let us run the ball and the passing game was there. I'll take a 50% chance a wr actually catches a ball over a 50% chance we get more than 1 yard on the ground.

  8. The people that bitch about play calling wish we'd run when we throw and throw when we run. It is knee jerk fan stuff. I haven't been part of the fire Watson crowd but an offense that makes that many mistakes has to fall somewhere.

The dropped passes are just baffling. Our freshman QB looked like a freshman. Did know one see that coming?

    Thenarse can't tackle.

Overall D played well enough to win. 10 of those points were gifts by turnovers and poor special teams play.

Not challenging Reeds 3rd down catch, the onside kick, having 12 men on the field at the end.

Total team loss- O, Special teams, Coaching and D.

I've never been a fan of Watson. It has nothing to do with today. The receivers dropped 3 Touchdowns and another that would have given us the ball on the 4 yard line. He can't do anything about that. However, he is a zone-reading son of a gun. On the drive where Kinnie dropped the 4th and 15 td pass, we ran the zone read on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down. Watson was on a roll and if it would have been 4th and any shorter, he would have ran it again just to see if anything had changed.

I've never really believed that it was his idea to ever go to this offense either. He's green at it so maybe eventually he will master it. I've always had doubts about him though. When Callahan was here, and even when we were steamrolling other teams this year. It always looked like a better athlete just making the play instead of a great play call that had the defense off balance.

I'm sure some here will disagree and that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  9. Half a hundred on Texas? NU wins easy? Man I think you guys are in for a letdown. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see us moving the ball very easily on them.

No kidding. People must be forgetting that this is the same Texas team that only lost by a TD to Oklahoma just two weeks ago.

  10. Pat Forde is a douche, but I still hate Stewart Mandel more. If Mandel isn't writing something negative about Nebraska, he isn't writing anything at all. Forde at least had some positive things to say about Nebraska when he said we should be chosen for the Big 10.

  11. Did I read or hear that Coach Osborne asked him to cover it up a bit? Is that why he wears the black arm sleeve? I might be a bit of a prude, but i just don't get the whole tattoo scene. Unless, you were a sailor during WWII or something or ringing the bell on Fantasy Island, those I get.

Looks to be some sort of ancient south american art. I see no problems with tattoos. People have been tattooing themselves for a couple thousand years, at least.

I love coach Osborne but I would have told him no, I won't. His tattoo isn't obscene in any way and he is an adult. Didn't Osborne have quite a few players with visible tattoos while he was coaching?

  12. i have always said it, and i will say it again, mack brown is the worst game coach. he can only win with superior talent, never with scheming. he is a bad coach.

He might do less with more talent than anyone in the country, that's for sure. Texas is a recruiters dream and he still can't get it done.

  13. I live in Columbus and listen to Common man and the torque sometimes. Everyone is right in saying that they are definate homers. You should've heard them when Lebron left. It was terrible.

But in regards to OSU having terrible fans, I totally disagree. I have had season tickets for 4 years and I sit in the student section, and I've never seen or heard of any of the things that have been mentioned.

I don't know how it could go unnoticed. It's awful.

    OSU

    Penn State

These are both light compared to most of the things I've seen with my own eyes.

  14.

I'm a husker fan trapped in Ohio. It isn't surprising.

Here is what I can tell you about OSU supporters. This could probably be applied to most fans at Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan as well. They are the rudest, foul-mouthed, disrespectful fans in the country. They will harass visiting fans the entire time you are there. Outside, inside, before and after the game. I've seen cups of piss thrown on fans, and even players. I've seen people spit on, beat up, and so on. Since OSU has been playing well the uneducated fanbase continues to grow. Finding people who gave a damn about OSU football during their down years is much more difficult.

The loud mouth on the radio link you posted is the stereotypical buckeye fan. Ignorant to anything that happens outside of columbus. Other teams are obviously inferior. Good football isn't played anywhere else in the country.
