  1. I'll take this guy.........

Teammate of Charles Jackson and David Santos who said "He loves Nebraska", BUT...NU needs OC that will put him in space too and screens!

We need to get WR this go round plus IMO Rhodes is better than the other guy, what say you?

  2. Recruits will be more attracted to facilities and relationship with the coaching staff then the win loss record, or how one team faired in a bowl game.

Perhaps teams like Texas, Florida, Alabama, and USC can say that. Not Nebraska IMO. If it had just been a bowl game loss, or a solid 10-4 season highlighted by dominant play and unlimited positive press (like last year) maybe we'd be ok. Not much positive is coming out of NU after the bowl game (or for the entire year to be honest). The bowl game this year just emphasized everything. It's like hitting a fade into the wind; it's going to slice, not fade.

Winning impacts our recruiting dramatically - more so than numerous other teams. We don't have much of a draw outside of the football program to fall back on, or make up the difference between our program and another when a kid is on the fence. When the program struggles, recruiting struggles. No one can say we aren't struggling right now. If 10 wins is ok with you, then I understand...but there's a hump we need to get over. It took TO what, 12 years to get over that hump? Bo doesn't have that much time. This isn't the 70's, 80's or even the 90's. Recruits have to be wondering if we've peaked, or if we have the staff/system/athletes in place to break over that hump. If not, every one of these recruits will be playing for AT LEAST 1 new head coach in their career. It's not so much just the bowl game, but the losses and the season as a whole - the way we conducted ourselves, the way we lost the games we lost. Like I said, nothing much positive coming out of this season.

    Those.....ah....wow....hard to read cause

  3. Tevin and Charles are rooming together at the game, and have been very close so far this week according to Rivals, but aren't discussing recruiting according to Charles.

    :blink::hmmph

let's hope the last part is true

Article states that is true. CJ is not going to cross that bridge with recruits...he said "it's not his decision to make". I bet they have alot to talk about though...one was Arky lead then NU, the other NU commit to Arky now. You can't write this stuff.

  4. I see no reason he wouldn't honor his commitment. Prince will be top 2 rounds, fonzie will be too, look what the coaches did with asante! If he wants to be a first rounder some day, he'll come here.

I'd love for him to honor his commitment too, but it is quite easy to see how it happens. CJ and Tevin are both Texans, knew of each other while NU commits, strucj up a friendship, CJ had Pig Sooey as his other finalist, Tevin chirping in his ear all week about playing with him as a Hog, and Petrino is a snake. High schoolers are very influential and it is a very logical scenario actually.

Having David Santos is a plus, but anything goes in the recruiting game.

  5. i don't see why either the a&m game or the holiday bowl "matter" more than the mizzou game (or okie state). obviously they all matter to some extent, and some matter than others (particularly texas and the championship game), but i still think it's dumb to say we lost every game that matters. the mizzou game was the most important game of the regular season, though i understand putting it second to texas given the emotions involved.

Read your thoughts ... and I agree with you that Mizzou game was a good win ... never would discount that. Again, my post was about the build up that results after sealing that win and setting up us representing the North in the conference championship.

In the end, I think we see the same thing ... from some different perspectives as fans. Enjoyed the interaction.

The A&M game did matter at the time, why? They were rollin' on an undefeated streak, a hot team, a win puts you in a shot of getting back to the top, and what happens....we cry foul and loss our cool! IMO this is "The Effect", "The Hump". Playing through emotions i.e...Texas game. Look at what Alabama did, "NO ONE" thought that was going to happen. Saban and Co. came prepared to show the Nation...yeah we had "The Effect", "The Hump" but THIS IS OUR NATION TITLE GAME and showed everyone "ROLL TIDE" and rolled MSU like they were 6-6! People need to leave BO alone, THIS IS FOOTBALL FOLKS!! Saban had no problem slappin that kid in the rear and didn't apologize for it either! "The Effect" Mental preparation + Execution + Being physical + Having a Leader on the field = MNC!! In hard times....you fight to win!! GBR!!

  6. The way NU has played the final 4 games of the season and the effort put out yesterday. If you were a recruit this year or next, be it offense or defense, how could you think a putting NU in your top 3?

having a top 10 draft pick 2 years in a row helps.. so does the margin of each of the losses. Fan passion also helps some.. hopefully recruits also realize that a lot of the struggles were offensive problems and if/when a coaching change happens, they can see that with a slightly better offense, and our D that we have a chance to do something great..

Other recruiters will use this season against NU, I just hope through guidance they can see Bo trying to build a program back to the top.......being consistent should help, along with some "O" staff being replaced, IMO.

  7. I don't like his height, you gotta be tall to play cornerback. To catch passes over people like Marvin McNutts and Blackmon

So you don't like alot of NFL corners with that statement. The kid is 5'10, has a 40 inches vertical, can play both corner, safety, return punts/kicks, can play RB avg 12.7 or 9.7 a carry, 6 TD, what did I miss? Oh yeah ..... HE HITS LIKE A TRUCK! IMO, he has the potential to be one of the great CB to come out of NU. Did I mention he can TACKLE? :restore

  8. ****Update*****

Arkansas making a full court press on Jackson, along with A&M and Okie State! Staying solid but damn this recruiting thing is starting to get real for this kid! Currently getting ready for the USAA game, hope he kicks a$$! Will update if anything else pops off! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  9. I have watched this team go backwards since the Martinez ankle n turf toe injuries which means "just like Texas" I have QB's that are not ready to lead me to the MNC! WHY? Because IMO, there's a OC n other O staff that don't know how to develope talent especially at QB, back to back delay of games, not stepping up in the pocket to avoid sacks, mental "non discipline" errors = 11 penalties! Yeah D is going to get my flame too....HORRIBLE attempts at tackling....TACKLING.... what you learned in pop-warner. Gomes, Osbourne, Prince, and others WTF! C'mon man, and why was there no pressure on Locker? 0 sacks, 0 pics! I don't care if this team already whipped Washington, when you hit the field you take care of business...PERIOD! With the upcoming schedule this staff needs to fix the QB position (passing game, pocket awareness) or it will be a rude awakening in the BIG 10, that was sad to watch that product on the field.....both sides!

  10. What I saw this year before the ankle injury, except Texas, is the blueprint to build off of for the BIG TEN. Add WR that can burn on the outside and work the slot (catch the ball in traffic) or TE like we do now. Get somebody in here that can teach these QB's how to pass and have pocket presence when needed. To be a player in the BIG TEN, you have to be able to run heavy n play action pass, but if you dont get the passing respect....you're DOOMED!

  11. When I lived in Texas I coached pee wee football for 9 years. PM me with any questions you have and I can sure try to answer them. First rule of thumb, get used to parents and especially dad's complaining about their kid's playing time and why they aren't the QB!

I live in Texas and have Coached for 10 years (5 as Head Coach) in our leagues down here, but stepped away 2 years ago ( they've been trying to get me back ever since). The first rule is correct above and the one thing that separated me from a lot of other coaches was I was there for the kids! You'll have fun and sometimes none, but when you see those little smiling faces.......you remember way you are there.

  12. Sucks to lose a kid with his type of talent but it doesn't change what we have at Nebraska. Would have loved to see this kid play with a couple years under Sanders and the Pelinis. He will be a great player wherever he goes....good luck Tevin.

Now on to the next one. We still have a great DB class and we are still in on a couple kids rated just as high as Tevin.

It would be a plus to grab another CB in this class, especially since it sounds like CJ may have qualifying issues. I hope this staff has some CB's in mind that they can make a push for.

Where did you hear that about Jackson?

I think it's a really old rumor that's still spinning around HI..

FWIW ... Jackson should be fine when ready to enroll.

  14. I think people forget that recruiting is more like buying a house. You can look and look and look, then one day you walk into one and it just feels right.

If recruting was all about stats or location then coaches wouldnt even do visits, there would be no need to.

    +1

  15. Might be done with trips. Good news.

This came out of a different district here in Houston (Cy Fair). Thought it was cool to have 3 Klein Collins guys, mad respect for these kids. Rhodes is rumored to want NU offer......he's a beast for his size.
