Didn't say it was. But assumptions are just that.....
However you did say there was "loads of beer in the background" and the only thing that possibly resembles that is a crushed silver can which could be multiple things. Just stating truths.
So the 40 of Busch light in the upper left corner is multiple things?

I can't imagine too many people were beating down the door to coach at a school that's going to get some pretty stiff sanctions. That said, it's a good spot for him. It's the level of coaching he should have been doing while at NU.
I'd beat down multiple doors for 200k a year. At the end of the day he landed a D1, power 5 job...that is way better job than the majority of coaching jobs out there. You can bet there were plenty of candidates for that job.

You're right, previously they probably received a little more than zero. Doesn't mean that money was legally given to them. Now it is.
I am pretty sure this is a completely new allowance. So the previous was zero. But if you can find somewhere saying they received money before please post it. But this is suppose to be on top of everything they received before.
He told you, $3,600. This isn't the same as room and board stipends.
Right, and this isn't changing. Everything I've heard about COA is that it's basically a "whatever" striped like the old "laundry money" players used to get, just a substantially larger amount.
That is incorrect, off campus scholarship athletes have always received at minimum the equivalent of room and board
I believe this is an extra $3600What was it before? I can't think this is that big of an increase.
And I was asking how much more of an increase it was. Scholarship athletes have been given $ for years.
I understand, the previous number that is now 3600 wasn't zero.
Along with what existed.
Polo, that was always against the rules. Find something that shows me it wasn't and that we did it.
This is from Washington Huskies and USC site, and is the standard for all D1 NCAA universities. If you live off campus you receive at or above the amount that you would receive for room and board on campus. If you've ever noticed, athletes all live off campus after their first year because you can find cheaper rent. Since the university is required to provide what is needed for on campus living to all student athletes, that means more money in their pocket.

Or maybe it was simply the best job he was offered. Occam's razor and such.
Less stress, hometown, out of the spotlight he created for himself, still getting paid like a top coach...you're right though it's counter intuitive
Wonder which jobs he turned down.
If I was being paid $3+ million as part of a buyout on top of the salary he is getting at Youngstown, I would take a job in my hometown too. It's not a matter of him dropping to FCS, but more his choice to do so.Interesting to see Beck go to one of the top progrums in the nation, and Bo fall all the way to the FCS.
When he basically confirmed during audiogate 1 this was a stepping stone job for him, who would have guessed he was actually looking to take a huge step down?
Just seems counterintuitive.
the best head coaching job offered, probably. But you have admit with the other variables I have stated, that's a pretty sweet gig. So why go be a DC somewhere in D1 just because.
I wouldn't say I'm needing to be scraped of pelini's jock, I'm logically stating that he took a job that has a ton of upside for him personally other than football

How could Blow and Jim Tressel want to really end up at Y. St. ? They have egos and usually a "big name" who ends up at small college or high school has screwed up somewhere. When Blow was "caught" on tape a couple years ago saying "it won't be long and I am out of here".......he was not thinking Y St, and rolling into the Dakota Dome next September .
What is Bo, around 45? He can coach at YSU, let his kids attend and graduate from Cardinal Mooney, and then maybe Bo will look to go back into big-time coaching. Or he can stay at YSU for 20 years, and enjoy his life. Every situation is different, I don't know why people get all caught up with "oh yeah, Bo is so lame he ended up at crappy YSU."
I totally agree with this...It is like those guys that played in the pros, set for life and they go coach High School ball...why not, it is fun, they don't need the cash.

For $3M a year an ego can take a hit and roll into South Dakota. Tressel was the most successful coach in YSU history so it's not too much of a stretch for him to be employed by them while he has to wait for his show cause to expire.

And Bo kept Watson.
I'm cool with Riley making his own hires.
Riley retained Warren to help bridge the gap between the players and the coaches just like bo did with Watson, and Callahan did with Gill. It's a common practice in coaching, definitely not a rule but happens more than you would think.
-
Just remember he did this in 2012 and was blasted for it by the university.
To someone like Riley, who has never worked with Ron Brown, why would you keep him around?
-
First step, accident. 2nd step, totally on purpose once he realised what he stepped on the first step. Made no attempt to get off quickly or even turn around to see what Rodgers was mad about. It was pretty obvious to me. When you step on someone, you know it and the reaction (when on accident) is much, much different. He has turned into a thug. Todays day and age, the NFL isn't going to tolerate him much more.
Lmao. He is not a thug. He is emotional, and has a temper, but a thug come on! I really don't think that he should have been suspended, and what was funny to me watching the game and seeing it live was he got blocked back into him and he stepped back stepped down and walked off. When they replay it in SLOW MOTION a dozen times and keep saying how long he stayed on him and how he didn't jump off quickly well I can see how some would get it in their heads that it was egregious. He got suspended because of his past and Raiola's stomp.he is a f'ing mess...........he is a true thug. embarassing to NU.
He is not an embarrassment to NU, he no longer plays here. He is now an embarrassment to the Lions and the NFL.
Once again thug is not the right word and it's appalling that it is being used to describe someone who's job is to play a game as one.
-

Haha do you know what a thug is? off the field he is probably one of the best guys at representing the NFL. But stepping on a leg = shooting someone for shorting them drug money in your opinion

What evidence is there to support that the defensive line is good now, or ever has been strong? Probably the biggest group of under achievers on the team. I'm so tired of hearing how great Randy Gregory is. He did very little to stand out on the field. How so many of you let Mel Kiper tell you how good someone is playing is beyond me.
I think Gregory should come back, but if he doesn't I don't think it's a huge loss. He never quits on a play, but he has a long way to go.
I'd say they are better since Meredith isn't required to play DT at 250 lbs. if you are strictly looking at sacks to judge your opinion of Gregory you are way off base. The fact coaches have to dedicate time to gameplan how they will cut, double, and chip him on all pass plays means he's a game changer

because hes had 4 god damn weeks to get this sh#t out of his system and go out as a proud HUSKER. Not a damn Boliever. Perfectly depicts all the problems with the program inside and out over the past 7 years. Us vs world. At least under Riley us fans will be back on the US side. Why was it too much? The guy loved his coach and Bo will be the only coach that he will have to play for. As much as we hate Bo, I don't think some of you guys realize how much he meant to these kids. They came in as Freshman not really knowing about much, and not only was he their football coach, but also someone who they looked up to. He was a second father for some of these kids.
4 weeks to completely rid himself of a 5+ year relationship, especially as one as public as this firing...ok

How many games into next year will all the assistant coaches be idiots?
0, spring game.
-
Unexpected end to the season. The team went out and played hard and made us proud. What was expected, inept play calling by Beck, his calls
left probably 10 points on the field. Kenny Bell making at least one bone-head play. Pelini trying time and time again to snap the ball over
TAJ's head. Another new start next year. A coach who won't embarrass the program with side line blow ups at refs and players alike.
How long to the Spring Game?
T_O_B
You're right...pelini had a rough game while injured for the season. Good research though.

Yeah, AA couldn't have picked up 3 yards. You are a class act Bull. You are what's wrong with Nebraska football. Armchair expert!
The beauty of this is we will never know, the ol coulda woulda shoulda argument. Nobody wins

Posts about Barney doing a good job? I must have went to the wrong site

Pre-Bo firing, these guys might have given up, folded and allowed this game to get way out of hand. But they didn't. They fought back and made it competitive. Nice way to end the season. The loss sucks, but the way they lost is acceptable for me.
Interesting point, I guess we have different definitions of folding

Bo Pelini's philosphy for first-teamers was kinda like what happens in short track speed skating in the winter Olympics: the first person to take over first place always won because nobody could pass them. Likewise, it was mind-numbing to see a guy become a starter and only lose his position if his leg fell off. Although Bo had promised that each position was up for grabs each week for practice, nothing was further from the truth.
It will be nice to see guys actually competing for jobs. It will be nice to see a backup inserted in the game when the starter allows three sacks, gets blown off the ball, or goes 3-12 in the first half. Gone are the days of grabbing the first team position in your sophomore year and only relinquishing it upon graduation.
I don't recall Banderas's leg falling off when he was replaced by Roach?
-
I just don't see Kevin Steele coming.
I heard that for him to leave Bama, he has to have At least a coordinator position, per his contract.
Not sure if true.
No coach in his right mind would sign a contract like that. That's nuts. No way that's true. Bama can't just "own" coaches. Pretty sure free will is still a thing.

It's actually pretty common to prevent lateral moves.
"According to Oklahoma State’s lawsuit, Wickline’s contract with Cowboys allowed him to leave without financial penalty only if he took a job as a head coach or offensive coordinator with play-calling duties."

The worst part of this UAB deal is they were shut down by the Alabama state board, not their schools board. Coincidently bear Bryant's son currently has a seat on the state board and he doesn't like UAB and is retiring in February...this is his parting gift
-
Sort of strange how mum he has been on this whole thing.Waiting on Kenny Bell's tweets....
Probably because he doesn't want to deal with the BS people will tweet at him for whatever he says. Or him and ameer are being leaders by staying quiet and keeping this team together knowing that they still have one game left.
-
I have now lost all faith in this dumbass of an Athletic Director...possibly THE dumbest move now!
You're right, putting the associate head coach in charge for one game. THE dumbest move that could have been done by the AD.
-
He was the assistant head coach...pretty obvious
