Assuming HH and Purdy stay, and both Raiola and Kaelin sign, how comfortable are you with that room next year?

Rhule still might go after another QB in the portal but there’s been no chatter of that since McCord. So if those are our 4 for next year, we going bowling?

I think Purdy would be in the driver’s seat due to his experience. He had flashes of being serviceable last year but I’m not sold that he could lead us to the promised land (bowl eligibility, lol). Raiola certainly has all the tools to be a superstar but grown man football in the Big10 is a daunting task to throw at an 18 year old. And I don’t know if this program can handle growing pains in our first 7 games. In my opinion we’ve got to win 6 of those first 7 if we want to go bowling because our last 5 are brutal. This state can’t handle another postseason on the outside looking in.

Given what we have at QB, I think the starting job is Raiola's to lose if he commits here.  As you said,  Purdy has shown some flashes,  but I haven't seen anything from him that suggests that an elite QB coming out of HS couldn't play at his level,  if not better.   HH shouldn't be in the conversation as a starter,  and Kaelin just doesn't look like a start-day-one kind of prospect.  It's a scary thought trusting a true freshman to lead the offense right away,  but it's less scary than rolling with what we have now in my opinion.

    Pfft...

We have a group of Ladies winning not just conference awards (yes, conference awards too) but national awards.

The Ladies who have fought, clawed and stood the course. They've achieved the pinnacle of their sport. They're actually doing their part to carry the Husker Brand and barely a word from this board. Instead, it's a constant rant about what didn't happen and could have happened.

here's what didn't happen: The men's programs, outside of baseball, haven't achieved a single conference championship in years. The football team can't even reach a mediocre bowl game fhs.. and all this wasted time/breath/energy b!^@hing about what could of/should of/might of happened. Fun??? Heck No!!

Instead of filling up a thread on a recruit that might/probably won't sign here.. How about spending a little time discussing the awesome effort of the only gender of athletes at Nebraska that currently matter. They're carrying the universities banner/brand with great effort, awesome character and supreme confidence but I guess what the lack of support shown them indicates is there are a butt load of chauvinist on here.

The best group of athletes at dear ol'nu are playing tonight. Playing for a championship. How about showing them some love and stop speculating for a minute, hour, day, about something very few (if any) of the posters actually know anything about.

That Said!!! Lady Husker's Go Kick Some Pitt Arse!! GBR!!

You're right.   We need to show our women's bowling team more love.

Nakos said that on Monday.  We met with McCord on Tuesday.

FWIW Sipple is saying that McCord does have interest in NU.

My bad, the article was posted overnight but I should've checked the date of the tweet they referenced.  It'll be interesting to see if we managed to sway him at all.

Tired of the money issue being the 1st reason someone hates anyone.  I own my own business & love what I do.  There is a big lack of financial understanding on this board.  If you don't like it, get your wallet out & donate.  This kid had a bad year & needs a new start. Period!

Nobody hates Jeff Sims or cares whether or not he's making money.  I don't know where you're getting that idea from.

Why can't you wish the kid good luck instead bashing him.  He was a good team mate & needs a new start.

I don't see an issue with wishing him well but also realizing that he's much less talented as a QB than we hoped he'd be.  He seems like a great guy and solid athlete who isn't a good QB, but frankly, we've seen a lot of those over the years.

  6. Hutmacher and Robinson will be back next year.

Tony White was a pleasant surprise.  Hopefully we can find a way to hang onto him.

Tommi Hill showed a ton of promise against Iowa.

Emmitt Johnson looks like he can be a reliable RB (if they keep giving him the damn ball).

Chubba Purdy needs some work on decision-making, but the kid can make some nice throws and can run when he commits to it.   I still hope we find a better QB through recruiting or the portal, but I wouldn't feel awful if he were QB2.

Last, but not least: even though Colorado beat us, we still finished with a better record.

  7. This team just doesn't know how to win.  There's really no other way to put it.

There is young talent on the team that did some great things today, but there's not enough to fill the gaps that we have.  O line is inept at pass blocking and commits stupid penalties, WRs can't get open before the O line collapses, and our QBs don't protect the ball when it matters most (and two of them have zero passing ability).  Alvano and Buschini are a liability more often than they're an asset.  The transfer portal needs to be a priority in the off-season.  Even if we have the best recruiting class since the '90s, we'll be in the same boat next year if we don't fill at least a few of the gaps through the portal.

Football officiating is quite possibly the worst it's ever been.  That's absolutely no excuse for the way Nebraska plays, but it's a fact.
