  1. Well Ganz cheated on the concussion test to say he was fine. The trainers said he was fine. If they say he can go he goes. Head coach doesn't have time to give him is own concussion test.

Can't cheat the eye test. Which in article he admitted he failed.

I'll guarantee the doctors told Bo that he did indeed fail the eye test.

I also don't care all that much, I just pointed out something I found interesting.

Rule of thumb is that if a person is speaking coherently and responding normally that you don't need to do the eye testing. Usually the three plays they are talking about aren't the last three but three that were given before the game as a reference test. I'm guessing that was the case here as well and reported incorrectly. Besides, the pupil response tests is actually for people who are out cold to see if they've suffered brain injuries. People however do them for people who are awake because they can be helpful in addition to the verbal questioning. Its also probably only been int he last 3 or 4 years that there has been a big push for eye testing having greater weight in deciding if someone could play or not. At least that's been the push on the youth sport level.

  2. oh god. these are 200-300lb MEN, not little kids. Grow the "F" up. Poor kids get a $200k education and treated like gods in Lincoln. Its SOOOOO rough. Its no wonder our team lacks any sort toughness with excuses like this. This is big boy football, if you cant handle it, go play tennis.

Sick and tired of this douche attacking these young men. Suspend me, I don't care. But this has gone too far. I hope you and your apparent little man syndrome feel good about yourself now as you sit behind your computer and laugh. Big man attacking these young MEN who sacrifice so much so you can probably sit on your couch and fap to Husker football. Your attitude is bullsh#t and you clearly have no idea how big of a hypocrite you are attacking their character. I'd like to see you walk-in to this team's locker-room after a loss and spew this same sh#t to these MEN who gave their all only to fall short and have douchebags like you come after them, knowing they can't tell you off in return. I really hope you feel great about yourself. Merry Christmas.

If you get bounced please let me know.

  3. If so I think our new OC could be one of the following from the "mill" of names, Darlington's father who's being considered as one of the next Gus Malzahn. Cotton (please God no), Frost will be rumored but not interested, Mangino and Lance Leipold who almost ended up here before.

That list is so bad I actually hope Beck stays.

I think Darlington will be an OC at a D-I school very soon. He's credited with taking his team to the state title (tough comp) for a second strait year. He lost his starting QB and I think best WR. His line averaged about 215 lbs and he converted a FB to QB. They killed it this year as he installed a completely new offense in 1 week complete with new blocking schemes etc. Very creative mind and that's why he's getting noticed. He's also getting calls from college and pro folks asking questions about his schemes. That bodes pretty well for him. Mangino and Leipold are also very quality coaches when it comes to offense. I'd be ok with any of those 3. I'm sure more names will pop up too if he does go.

  4. Heard on the radio this morning that his name is being thrown out there for Florida OC position. Yep, just rumor but you never know!

Muschamp is on very thin ice and it was obvious he had a considerable hand in dictating the drab O Pease ran. Don't see why Beck would take that job.

The ice has melted and Muschamp is walking on water. Only Jesus himself could survive a season like that in Florida.

If Beck could squeeze any improvement out of that Florida offense, though, he'd be hailed as a savior and Florida would make some noise this next year.

I could see why he would jump if offered. Probably not the safest of bets, but it does have a big payoff/upside if it works out.

The other advantage is an AD that comes out in support of coaches even though they are struggling at 4-8 rather than have one leaving you twisting it the wind as you go 8-4.

I think as of last talks he was still in the think of it. Might be 2nd choice if rumors are true, but its likely the other guy will turn down the offer.

  5. Harold is Howard Harold Hunter out of Texas. He's a guy I get a lot of insight and info from about whats going on from another board. He's very close with TO as well as many players current and former. Good guy from all accounts. He has a stated on the other board the round table didn't go like he thought it would. He said lots of people all wanting to talk made it hard to actually get honest information out. Dirk kind of when of and started making up facts to support his opinion and it was tough to refute or get words in because of the set up. He did say everyone was very good to each other and during the breaks there were some exchanges including one between him and dirk where he made him look pretty foolish. That's part of why Dirk was so hostile toward him in the end of it. (I have not listened yet). He said everyone shook his had after except dirk who took off. He said it apparent there isn't a lot of respect for that guy and he's obviously a voice for Harv.

  6. He won't last in the NFL. He cares too much of what people think of him. wait til he gets to the NFL if he thinks it's bad now.

I disagree. He's just a very happy go lucky guy who is friends with everyone. He reminds me of my BIL who's from there. And when confronted they snap back a little but aren't mad about it. Its more a of a need to find out whats they guys problem is or why he things that way. Once they find out they move on.

  7. I won't comment on the pay vs performance as it relates to this list, but why is Beck more than twice as much as Paps? From what I've seen on the field, these are basically the same two inexperienced coaches, and if anything, the play calling has been less questionable on the D side. Is it because Bo really runs the D and Paps is more of a figurehead play relayer?

Last year Beck was offered several other HC and OC jobs after producing a very very good offense. I think this year it the whole offensive staff as a whole more than earned their keep with all the injuries. We can pretend all we want that we should have the 4th string as good as the 1st but thats just not true anywhere and we aren't liek the NFL where you can grab a guy off waivers and have very little drop off. Getting 8 wins this year was a very good effort. And yes I know it works both ways but if the ball bounces right we really should have been 1-2 games better. You compare that to other teams with similar injuries and they are happy if they were 8-4. Hell 8-4 at ATM (with the aid of an all world QB) and you get your pay bumped up to 5 million a year.

  8. 1- No clue

2- Possibly the Hyatt but I don't know that 100%. It was alluded that was the place a person wanted to stay to be around other Nebraskans. I don't know if that meant the team was there or it had the alumni groups.

3 - If you buy tickets do it through UNL. You might pay a few dollars extra 10-20 per ticket but it helps us get better bowls in the future if they are purchased through the school allotments. There should be stubhub ones but thats an easy trip for GA fans so I would guess the price on them might be a touch higher up until game week. But just guessing on that.

  9. Yes. And he's had his interest looked at on at least one HC offer but I'm told it wasn't a good move.

He has a good shot. He had a good offense last year and this year did good with a 2nd and 3rd string QB and offense killed by injury. Yes he had his bad moments but you look at the body of work over all and compare it to places with similar problems and we rated much better.

  10. Is Darlington a lock to redshirt next season? I would guess that.

Unless we have a lot more in the available bullpen than I realize, I feel the smart play is to take a shot at somebody - whether that's a JUCO or a transfer or an incoming freshman - to gives us another camp body and add to the competition. And also give us an extremely important layer of depth. At this point we can't say with total confidence if either TA or JSV will pan out. Both are really promising, but so are a lot of guys! From a pure numbers perspective, I feel we gotta find another scholarship QB to bring in somehow.

I would think he's a lock to redshirt - barring him being unquestionably the best we have (unlikely given how much time he's had off and the other two being around quite a bit longer) or the other two getting hurt (/knocking on every piece of wood available).

I wouldn't mind bringing someone else in as well but we're starting to get a little short on schollys and I'm not sure if we have an in with any decent prospects now - although we did check in on Flowers again from the sounds of it.

Every QB with a Nebraska offer has already committed, so if we are looking, we might have to roll the dice on a JUCO or an under-the-radar HS QB (which I don't see helping our immediate QB competition next year). Flowers would be another interesting option, if Beck can get him to decommit from South Florida again.

I was told I'd be surprised at who we are sitting good with and we might see another QB in the class here shortly.
  11. Perish the thought. All of Bo's players have unconditional love for their coach. They'd play against Satan, leave the program forever if Bo is so much reprimanded, and are petioning to change the name to the NeBOraska Bornhuskers.

But in reality I've only heard of Jay Guy on the board.

Not an insider but I haven't heard good things about Charles Jackson returning.. Take this worth a grain of salt.

Tried to do some checking here. Sounds like they still plan to have him. I was told they want to move him and need him at CB. But...who knows. I know he was frustrated so maybe he didn't like the idea of not playing safety.

  12. Our scholarships are 4 year deals so they won't revoke those. We probably have some guys that have been here four years and red-shirted but graduated that aren't coming back. I think they were also referring to guys who are med. red-shirting and done. And we might have a couple that aren't happy with playing time.

Are you talking about us honoring them for four years or the actual four-year contract that was put in a year or two ago? Never heard much about that.

Honoring the schollies. The 4 year contract scholarship debate got killed by the smaller schools in D1A.

NU give 4 year scholarships period. Doesn't matter if you start or are 5th string. You start with one as a freshman its yours. The only ones that are year to year are the ones offered out to walkons.

  13. Did they actually say that players were leaving, or did they say we had scholarships opening up?

There's a difference and I've heard some non-contributors are going off scholarship.

I think they were talking about non contributors, and that was my question.

  14. NOOOOOOOOO....He was my top choice to come here, and many said he would never come here because he was committed to Boise St. This really now pis*es me off about our AD if Peterson was open to leaving Boise St.

That assumes Shawn Eichorst tried contacting him or other coaches, which in no way has been confirmed or even hinted at by any legitimate source.

Regardless, this is Washington. Peterson has always said he loved Boise, so Washington is by no means a destination job for him at this point, at least from the outside looking in. He could possibly be lured elsewhere if this turns out to be true.

He never got that chance too because he couldn't get the $$$$ needed for the buyout thanks to a certain old HC/AD who is more worried about his legacy than what is good for the program. So the hope is that after one more year of the same old sh#t, more people will open thier eyes and realize that this staff needs to be shown the door. And the buyout is approx 2M less.

The money for the buyout is there if they want to clean house. It would cost us about 3-4 million after mitigation. So stating that it was money is BS excuse people who are butt hurt are using.

  15. Bo's plan was to put people in regions to be scouts. Kind of like NFL or MLB or even basketball using AAU teams. We'd have about 6 people living in their areas and then 2-4 folks to organize stuff at UNL. He got two. Which is better than nothing.

The administration gave him two when he asked for six? That's terrible. Eichorst needs to fix that like NOW.

That is completely on Tom is it not? Eichorst definitely needs to fix this!

That was from meetings this spring. I don't know if it was ever brought up before or not. I would guess it was at the same time Bo asked for a private plane. I would guess things were listed in order by need and getting the air fleet they now have access to was more important not only for football but all sports. I know TO made mention last summer he thought we'd see maybe up to 4 people added to staff but that was a decision for people other than him since they no longer needed his input.

We advertised for 2. I don't know if its a start or that's all she wrote. I bet we know more after signing day.

  16. That was last year. Before almost losing on opening day to a team that missed a bowl and fired a coach. Before giving up 38 straight to ucla. Before the tape leak. Before insisting Taylor be 100% before starting, then starting him and losing to Minnesota. Before the MSU debacle. Before the Iowa meltdown and defiant child act at the press conference.

Do you honestly think 78% of Nebraska fans will approve of that?

I didn't say that was his rating now. You said very few would be sad if he were to leave. I simply put that what we know from hard facts from historic information is that the trend would be opposite. I think if polled now he would still be in the 70's and maybe even 80% points. Remember that last poll was last year right after we got hammered by UCLA so mouth breather unrest was a high point. Perhaps not as high as now but I don't think its shifted to 78% favor him moving on and 8% him staying or the fact of the matter is we wouldn't have the BOR telling HP to tread lightly.
  17. Do you really think even half the fans personally attack Bo or the players? Critiquing on-field performance is the nature of being a fan, and everyone everywhere does this. Going after players or coaches is, thankfully, a much smaller segment of the fan base, and easily attributed to asshats. Those people, like the people overreacting in this thread, are easy to ignore.

Ok....so one of the biggest Dbags that does damage is a guy named Tim over on the rivals board. Always stating he's in the know, he's a big booster etc even though records show differently. He's been put on the radio in Omaha a few times and that gives credit to his lies even though they've been proven to be wrong more than once, including his "knowledge' that Bo had resigned and Iowa would be his last game. He's nothing more than a bad game of gossip. His info is almost always negative and usually based on zero truth. He's pretty much lead the charge against the program.

Unless you're mixing up posters, this isn't even true.

Tim's not exactly the warmest guy either but he's flatly denied being a big booster and stayed completely out of speculating on Bo's job status during the later part of the season. But I'm sure you knew that.

Don't think that I am. Very well could be two different folks but I was under the impression they were the same person. I'm not a member over there. I've only seen messages posted on another board that were stated to be from him. Last name P?

  18. Very few will be truly disappointed in Bo leaving if it were to happen..

This may be an example of media influence.......how do you know this is correct?

Its not. Every poll ever take that polled Bo's approval rating has had it as favorable by a wide margin. Usually in the 80 and 90 percentages.

    Yeah that's not true.

Every real poll not on a message board done by and independent group like Gallop. If there is one that states different it hasn't been public. At least to my knowledge.

  19. What I find interesting here is the intermingling of "the fans" and "the media". Some people seem to lump them together (such as in a statement like "Bo is a jerk to the fans/media"), but I remember in Bo's earlier years here, when he would spout off at the media during a press conference, everyone I talked to was in approval of his blunt handling of those "slimy media-types". What's changed? When Bo insults the media are there fans who take this to heart? Are we just tired of his antics now that he's been here a while? Is it just fuel for people's "fire Bo"...uh...fire?

Or maybe this is just all begging the question of how much fans are influenced by the media, and how much the media is reflective of the fans.

(On a side note, am I the only person getting an error when trying to go to the huskerland.net story?)

Media almost always drives fan base and opinion. Why do you think talk radio has grown so much in the last decade?
