  1. There's a good reason he was under the radar last year even in California.

He came into his first year of highschool as a 6'0 170 lb. linebacker who also played baseball at a school that went 0-10 the year before he arrived.

He then grew 3 inches, put on 50 lbs. quit baseball and moved to QB.

The kid can make all the throws, he can run well enough to be dangerous and he is highly coachable.

He needs to work on his arm strength a bit but otherwise the one weakness he seems to have is that he sometimes loses his feet when throwing on the move outside the pocket.. and even then he's already comparable if not slightly more accurate than our last 4-5 starters have been in that area.

Good info. Thanks. But I think his arm strength is just fine. He seems to be able to are all of the throws necessary.

I'm with you there, true. I'm all about simplified, attacking defensive schemes. I think being able to disguise what you're doing is one of the most important things.

The thing I worry about with Banker is staying with base personnel too much. It's great to be able to do if you have exceptional talent at linebacker, but I don't think we do. I think it's one of the things that got Cosgrove in trouble.

I know what you are saying but I see it as a positive (more base). Linebackers are hitters and tacklers. Corners aren't wired to do that as much. They are skinnier and built differently. It's also easier for the secondary to make a half-try tackle attempt against a back running with steam coming at you or in space. If you have to do it a lot in a game I think the secondary gets mentally tired of it. Let the big boy linebackers make the hits on the RBs and TEs in coverage. The corners can be a step behind to help swarm. Instead of seeing an offense sustain long drives against our defense, gashing them with runs that keep drives going, it will be better to cut it in half and get the D off the field more often.

If a team is going to throw a lot then you have quality nickel packages. In the B1G teams are more run heavy so that shouldn't be a big fear.

I thought of this too, and editeD

I'm with all of you on this but I hope the LB's can run because if not our D will be exposed quickly

I'd like to see Bush on the field just because he's a lefty. Can't remember ever seeing a left-handed quarterback play at Nebraska.

    What about Mike Stuntz??

Maybe the guy is coaching in some weird league that doesn't end for like another 4 months or something. Is the World League still around??? What about the XFL???

I believe MR has used some vague and nebulous terms such as "soon" when discussing the position...........I would guess that our mutual understanding of that term might not extend that far out...........but.....only MR knows.....

I'm going to guess we know sometime this week.....

You kind of have to get it done. Preferable by Thursday when the dead period ended. Otherwise you are recruiting 1 coach down

Makes you wonder if he was turned down and had to go to plan b or c

  5. Interesting. Watching his film I would not have guessed he weighed that much. He likes to make people miss. Doesn't finish runs or break as many tackles as I'd expect from a "big" back.

Yep. I was thinking the same thing. Good lateral speed but I kept waiting for him to thump someone.

Well we have seen HC's hiring their friends before at good ol' NU. Billy C comes to mind! I really do hope we're not witnessing BC part Duex. I want NU to succeed and do well.. I think I would rather have an all star coaching staff that recruits well as apposed to the nicest coach in the county and his good friends...
Sometimes an all star big name staff can be problematic. Probably why there are so few(Bama) around. There needs to be a clear line of authority and egos need to be sacrificed with all star staffs. I was hoping for maybe one big name, was hoping at DC, but I'm fine with trying it this way. I think Riley can coach and once again it will be about recruiting. I do like that he surrounding himself with younger staff members as well as minority hires. Diversity seems to be checked off my list for his staff. Now let's get in these kids living rooms and sell sell sell.

    Just get good coaches.

Who cares how old/young they are or what color their skin is? I certainly don't, actions speak far louder than anything else.

agree. who cares if they are friends/relatives/enemies or whatever. If they are good coaches that should be enough
