  1. This would be the first thing I would attempt:

    1. Bring back Danny Nee in some way. If that means Marc Boehm has to be let go, so be it.

    2. Go after Danny Nee's high school teammate, Lew Alcindor.

Is it a total reach? Maybe. But Nebraska needs a big time splash hire to get onto the college basketball map and I can't think of a bigger WOW name. He has always wanted the opportunity to be a head coach, let's see if we can't be the ones to give it to him.

  2. So this is something that I've always wondered but never asked on a message board. It seems like every year there are a handful of top flight recruits that are just as amazing in the classroom as on the playing field. Would it be against the rules for them to simply walk on to play a sport and take a full ride academic scholarship? It would free up a scholarship for whatever team he played for. I've never heard of it being done, but it makes sense.

  3. LINCOLN — Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini has completed his revamped coaching staff, according to a source close to the program, though he’s waiting on university protocol to make an announcement.

That article makes me even less confident in Beck's play-calling abilities.

Why aren't we getting Ed Warinner? From that article it sounds like it was Warinner who called the plays. They made a great team in Kansas, why can't we bring them back together here?

  4. Promoting from within helps keep things from changing drastically...but isn't that what this offense needs? Drastic Changes? I don't understand how keeping the same people that we had last year is going to improve things. Wasn't Garrison here last year working with our OL? I think this offense needs new voices. JMO

  5. If that meeting was about coaching changes then you can be sure that the recruits already know about it. Why would Coach Pelini keep everything a secret from recruits and then not wait one more day until they signed to say anything to anyone about it.

  6. I don't want to do this.

Due to my vital role in NU athletics and the contract that I signed dictating my silence on all internal issues concerning the University, I am most likely assuring my termination by coming on this board and stating what I am about to. It is worth it. I can stay silent no longer.

Bo went to a little arcade in a strip mall about 3 weeks ago with his kids. After entrusting his children with a total stranger covered with tattoos associated with South American gangs, he found himself tucked into the corner of the room, staring down a thirty-five year old Skee Ball machine. Bo went to WAR with this machine...hours he spent. Under handing balls up the slope. Screaming with neck tendons flared, eyes wet and shimmering with an almost homicidal type of mania. Scaring children, women...costumed mice and other woodland creatures. After five hours, victory was Bo's. All time high score. The CHAMPION.

So back to Lincoln. Bo, sprinting into the office of the AD, runs past Shawn Watson and Barney Cotton with barely a second glance. He didn't notice them, for they couldn't have been farther from the front of his focus. Tom is on the phone when Bo comes raging into the office. One hinge is ripped from the corner of the door upon his violent entrance. Not only does Bo fail to notice this damage, he strides aggressively to Tom's chair, takes the phone from the Doctor's hand and slams it into the receiver. Shards of plastic sliver into the air and one strikes Osborne on the hand. His eyes slightly widening with surprise, Tom calmly asks his frenzied HC, "What is the meaning of this, Bo?"

Bo can barely speak straight. "Skee Ball! When the wolves of war are at the moat, you have to sacrifice a pawn or two! I mean it!" Tom is perplexed. He can't draw any connection between hungry wolves and Skee Ball, but he can see he has a problem. His young charge is a helluva defensive coach, but he might also be clinically insane. "Take a Xanax, Bo, and come back in 40 minutes." Bo takes it without even being aware of it, like you or I breathe. He leaves. Tom settles into his chair to think.

One hour and twenty-seven minutes later, Tom Osborne and Bo Pelini emerge from Tom's office. Bo looks drained, pale, and placated. Tom, looking like a man who has dodged only the first of many lightning bolts certain to strike from any angle at any time, slips a note into my pocket. I am to make a purchase, to be delivered Wednesday afternoon. Bo, naturally, brought the team together to inform them of this imminent and program-changing event.

Skee Ball in the locker room, folks. The Insider 2 is coming out in a couple months. It's about me.

just playin, it was actually quite creative. it just seemed like a good time for that line.

  7. I talked to my guy, found out what's going on. You guys are going to be surprised by it. Trust me.

P.S. - When I come on here on Thursday morning and say "told you so", then you'll understand how important I am and how good my inside info is.

It's not like we're rooting against you. I'm sure most of us hope that you are right and it's something world shocking....just don't understand why you have to be all secretive about it. Either it's something that you can share or it's not, in which case why even bring it up?

  8. I have a source. He knows exactly what is going on.

Word is, Memorial Stadium is being torn down. The room is needed to build Bo Pelini's Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Want To Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too.

Monumental stuff folks. I also have photos of the center, real life size of course.

    zoolander-school.jpg

Needless to say, there will be a lot of room remaining for a parking lot...

How are we supposed to watch the Match if we can't even fit inside the building?

  9. If you guys aren't smart enough 2 figure it out don't blame me.

  10. If and when they ever do decide to change the music, I'd rather see the University create their own theme song. That way they wouldn't have to pay broadcast/copyright/licensing fees since they'll own the music themselves. Certainly there are some musicians affiliated with UNL that could get together and create something epic-like.

    Hans Zimmer?!?!?!?!? :worship

  11. I think this is a topic that gets discussed at least twice a year on every husker message board. I for one think that Sirius has run course as it just doesn't get the crowd stirring as it used to. So what other songs could be used?

    My Nomination

I just imagine the crowd doing the nah-nah's at the end. It would seriously test the rhythm skills of our fans but it would be :horns2 if we could pull it off.

  12. Hey guys,

Just wanted to post a link to a Q and A with Niles Paul talking about his career at Nebraska and what he's doing to prep for the NFL Combine.

Sorry for the one-off post, but it's a cool update on a guy trying to make it in the NFL.

I kind of feel bad for giving Paul a hard time after reading that story. Thanks for posting that. It's going to be interesting to see just how things turn out for him.

I hope he does great in the NFL, but about feeling bad for giving him a hard time....

“You want to do a good job,” he said, “but when you're not getting the looks that you think you deserve, it sucks.”

....if he wouldn't have said stuff like this then it wouldn't have bothered me that he screwed up so much.

  13. From the initial mock-ups, it would look more like this. It's gonna be :nanalama. The only bad part is it sounds like they're gonna be building a parking garage on the east side as well. Bye-bye lot 12 parking and tailgating.

I don't know if I like that design. Just looks like a lot of wasted space for only 5,000 extra seats. If they didn't have the club seats they could've easily put another 10-15k seats.

    I agree, but club seats = $ moolah $

  14. Personally I was kind of hoping they would change leaders.

    This would be my suggestions:

    Honor and Tradition

    Glory and Honor

    Tradition and Legends

    Honor and Legends

    Glory and Tradition

    At least something like that.

Although I absolutely hate the new B1G logo, someone made a design somewhere else, I think it was on here, that looked 1,000,000 times better than the current one. Imagine that.

This is the coolest logo I've seen. It was posted by Throw-Them-BoNes on RSS.

  15. Just something I did when bored instead of schoolwork, so dont get on my ass about details. Obviously I just threw the south stadium in there as a pipe dream but seems something plausible as an easy and cheap expansion without demolition down the road in the Big Ten.

  17. It's OK. We brought Milt in last summer to mentor the coaches already. We're going to have the best blocking O Line in America in 2010.

Too bad Barney didn't make the time to meet with him and blew him off.

I always had a hunch that the Barnstache was kind of a jerk...

He's a good recruiter but very arrogant in the fact that he knows more than anyone else when it comes to blocking schemes and technique. You can't tell me you can't learn at least one thing from any coach that had done your same job. Even a guy in year 1 might know something you didn't or had forgotten that was important. I would guess Milt has forgotten more than Barney will ever know.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, didn't he coach Cotton at Nebraska?
