  1. You've been really serious lately. What's up? Did they fix the backdoor link into the Mod forum?

I dunno, I do need to lighten up, I've taken stuff around here far to seriously recently. Apologies all around...

Ever since you pulled your c$%k out, you've been acting differently.

Yea I think it was about that time last week or so...It'll all be good after the bowl....

You know Kenny Bell is better than Alshon Jeffrey right? I mean you know that, right?

  2. So your telling me..

    1. You don't drink, or only have like one..maybe two 12 oz. beers when you go out. Nothing wrong with that. My parents don't drink at all.

    2. Spend a lot of money on cabs when you were in college...now...or both.

    3. Have the BEST friends ever to drive you around and not have a drink themselves.

    4. Love to walk long distances and maybe even love jogging...or yogging (if your Ron Burgundy) at the wee hours of the night.

Just curious as to which it is.

I'm curious. What's your motivation for making excuses for a guy who drove over the legal limit? "Everyone does it" is BS. Not everyone drinks too much and gets behind the wheel.

We can all still like Caputo and wish him well and still think he's a dumbass for drinking and driving. You don't have to cover for him.

  3. Ball has 38 touchdowns on the year. He's also done that on fewer touches than Barry.....

Ball isn't worthy to carry Barry Sanders jock strap. You think people will forget Burkhead in a few years? Compared to Barry Sanders, neither Ball nor Burkhead will be remembered at all.

On a scale of one to ten with Barry Sanders being a ten, Ball is a three and Burkhead a 3.5. And even then I'm being generous to Ball.

The elephant in the room that nobody is talking about is Russell Wilson. Without a real passing threat this year Ball gets half the yards and TDs he has. He owes that trip to New York to Wilson's arm, #2 ranking at Pass Efficiency, and ability to run.

Ball on Nebraska is Burkhead. Burkhead on Wisconsin is Ball. It's pretty even.

  4. Just because they failed at being a HC doesnt mean they dont have individual areas of expertise that helped get them to that position in the 1st place.

I agree with this. Our last coach is a good example. Callahan isn't a very good head coach but he is really good at coaching offensive lines. He would probably make a good Offensive coordinator I guess. But not a head coach.

  5. Yea, with Oklahoma's talent year in and year out, you'd better have a good defense or there's something really wrong with your philosophy. Oklahoma is one of the few Universities that pretty much reloads on the best talent in the country every year. I guess I am always more impressed by the guys who do more with less.

You mean the talent that Mike Stoops helped recruit? If you don't like Stoops that's one thing, but you can't argue with his success as a DC. If you don't want Stoops who do you want?

  6. I was looking down through that bowl swag list. How can they give all that stuff away and not run afoul of ncaa rules? Oh, I'm in favor of it--giving stuff to the players is GREAT. It just seems odd that players can get all this stuff from the bowl sponsors. But in other situations a player gets in hot water if someone buys him a sammich. Funny that.

Because the NCAA allows it and monitors the gifts. They are only allowed to give so much of a dollar amount to each athlete.

Not only that, but I think the ncaa monitors gifts given to the players from their schools during the year and counts that against what they can get from the bowls. Like those gold pants the Ohio State players got have a monetary value and that counts against their bowl swag... or something like that.

From the link it's sounds more like the institution can give an annual gift, that is separate from the bowl package. But the bowl package can have gifts from the institution and the bowl committee that both count towards the post season award, so together they couldn't exceed the limit.

Funny how ncaa rules could be confusing. This group can give this gift and that group can give that gift, but only so much and no more and if you trade your gift for tattoos you're the worst person ever and there has to be a big investigation. But it's all a gift, and you're still an amateur, thousands of dollars later.

  7. Nobody is putting you down. I was giving you grief for your blog, but that's all in fun.

I think it does matter where you heard it, because if you're hearing it from the local news in Billings Montana that's different than hearing it from the local news in Norfolk Nebraska. In Nebraska they're going to refer to him as a former Husker. They'll talk about him as a Lion anywhere outside Nebraska. Nobody outside Nebraska cares that he played here anymore. To everyone he is a Detroit Lion and an NFL superstar.

  8. If your'e going to write sports you have to know more about your subject. Mike Rozier is best known for playing pro football with the Houston Oilers, not the Falcons. He played in the USFL for years before the NFL, too.

I don't know where you're hearing Former Husker Ndamukong Suh. You must be watching local tv or something. On ESPN it was all about the Lions.

  9. I've said it in another thread and I'll say it again. If we fire Bo for winning 9-10 games a year and continuing to run a clean program but not conference or national championships, whether it be after next year or 10 years from now, I am DUN with Nebraska football and college football in general. I will just curl up into a little ball and rot away. I will elect to not have an association with something so morally crappy.

For myself (and likely many others) I'm ok with losing 2-4 games a year as long as the losses are competitive in the 4th quarter and we are rarely out-coached.

Oklahoma's losses are better than our losses. When we lose we look like we never played football before. When Oklahoma loses they are usually competitive. When is the last time they got blown out like we did against Michigan and Wisconsin?

  10. If you were interested in having a discussion you would just have recapped or copied your blog piece in this thread. My opinion is your opinion that Suh is embarrassing the school is silly, and most likely it's ultra-silly so you'll get a reaction, and more page hits, and you'll have a bigger audience for your next story.

Thanks for participating. I don't agree, I think it makes both program look bad, especially Detroit's. He was one of the best payers the Huskers had, so he thinks he can get away with anything.

How does what Suh does today reflect on Nebraska? He's been away two years now. You're really reaching with this premise.

For the same reason that we see Johnny Rogers, Eric Crouch, Mike Rozier and Suh on the sidelines at games. They will always be a public figure that represents the Huskers. Just like when Rogers got arrested for robbing a liquor store.

Suh has made a huge splash in the NFL that Johnny Rodgers, Eric Crouch, Mike Rozier never made. He's branded into the NFL now with the Lions. When he gets in trouble, nobody thinks, former Husker Ndamukong Suh did this or did that, they see him in his Lions jersey and think Lions player Ndamukong Suh did this or did that.

  14. Stoops obviously knows his stuff, but he won't be a DC for long. He'll get another HC job and then leave. Do we really want to bring him in for what could be just a year or maybe two?

Won't that happen with any candidate we bring in who's any good? If they suck they'll stick around for a long time, but if they're good they will be moving on and moving up. The years of all the assistancts staying on like we had under Osborne are gone. Nobody is going to stay an assistant on a staff for 20 years anymore.
