  1. For me it's more than just "irritating". I'm PO'd. :steam because the time and energy I've spent on NU football the last uumm...... 20-30+ years doesn't seem to be paying off :) I really thought that in year 4 we'd be in solid position to compete for the NC or win a conf. champ and ...at the VERY LEAST make a BCS bowl.

But the reality is that we're still irrelevant. THAT more than anything ticks me off. I can understand losing to a top 5-10 team bec. then at least you know that you're there - somewhat. But losing AT HOME is just something that I didn't think we'd be doing 4 years into TO and Bo's tenures.

The other thing that tugs at me is I know that with each year that we fiddle around being irrelevant, it makes it that much harder to recruit! The glory days of the 90's fade farther away almost to a point that we sound like ND fans.

Nobody is forcing you to be a Nebraska fan. If you hate it so much, why not root for a different team?

  2. For the record having strong religious beliefs..Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or otherwise.. does not necessarily make you a better coach or a better person. I have known really decent caring "good" religious people in my life, and I have known many atheists and agnostics with more Christ like values than many self proclaimed Christians.

Last week Joe Pa was a saint.

An upstanding coach is an upstanding coach. His/her religious beliefs are a side issue.

Joe Paterno was never a saint.

  3. Really it's not a big deal, I was just pointing out that you were telling everyone to stop comparing numbers, but compared numbers yourself. So.... why stop comparing numbers, especially when you were saying "everyone" who was comparing numbers, which would include someone who made the same point you were trying to make, much more successfully.

Seems like a big deal to someone.

  4. I gave an explanation for why it wasn't a valid comparison.

Which is exactly what the comparisons earlier in the thread did.

I don't recall a post in the thread talking about the Freshmen splitting carries three ways while Rex didn't split carries with any other Freshmen during his Freshmen year. Can you show that to me?

I don't get where you're coming from. I made a valid point that Rex didn't split carries with anyone in his recruiting class and Heard/Abdullah/Green are.

  5. Everyone comparing the number of carries Rex had as a freshman to Aaron Green's carries needs to stop. Green came in as part of a three-headed monster of really talented running backs and Rex came in alone. Take away Heard and Abdullah and give all those carries to Green and they're about comparable. Green just had bad luck to come in with a recruiting class full of capable guys. Rex was pretty much alone.

  6. I shrugged off the Northwestern loss relatively quickly, was not overally upset and was pretty optimistic about us still having a chance of getting into B1G Championship game.

I figured we were done at that point and I still think we are. Michigan State has a really easy schedule down the stretch and when we lost that game I knew we were done. It will take a miracle for Northwestern or Indiana to beat Michigan State. The only thing we have going for us is Michigan State has to play at Northwestern, and they are usually worse on the road. But we still have to beat Michigan at Ann Arbor and that's the toughest game any of us have remaining.

  7. Facts:

Joe Paterno was told, by his own testimony to the Grand Jury, that McQueary had witnessed fondling and touching of a sexual nature by Sandusky in the Penn State locker rooms.

That was in 2002. Paterno reacted to that by one time making one phone call to the administrator and doing nothing else.

Since that report, Sandusky has had access to the Penn State facilities including the weight room as recently as the week of 10-31-2011. Meaning that at no time did Paterno restrict Sandusky's access to the team or the facilities.

That is why Paterno got fired. He was told something terrible about Sandusky and didn't do enough to protect the kids or his players.

I don't understand how people defend that.

  8. He's not being charged with a crime because he did nothing wrong - he reported it to the "authorities" in charge of his institution (which is how the law/statute is worded... although I imagine that the statute may be amended to rid itself of such ambiguity in the future), not because he didn't lie about it to the grand jury - if the Grand Jury thought he was lying they would have charged him with perjury as they did with Schultz and Curely.. but they didn't, which seems to point to and support the fact that Paterno's testimony that he was unaware of the specifics of what took place in the shower is the truth. I've read the Grand Jury's report and honestly, based upon what's in there, Paterno is, at this time and until any evidence is produced to refute it.... innocent of wrong doing.

If you want to talk about inaction, how about the detectives who dropped an investigation at the bequest of Penn State Campus Police, an AG/Head of Police that decided not to file charges, a mother who worked with the police to tape phone conversations but didn't pursue it when the police dropped it, the executives of Second Mile who were apparently informed several times about possible issues but did nothing, Shultz and Curely who did nothing... there was a whole lot of failure going on here by not only Penn State officials but by local and county law enforcement, school coaches and officials and other various authorities.

The victims were let down at every single level by every person who should have protected them but to pin the majority of the blame on Paterno and say that it was Paterno who enabled and apparently by way of inaction, condoned, Sandusky's actions is a ridiculous. Could he have done more? Given the information we have now, it appears to be obvious he could have. But he didn't have all of this information, he had an apparently vague report of some sort of sexual misconduct between a former employee and a child, which he had already reported a required by law and "morality".

Paterno is the "big name" goat being sacrificed to overshadow the rest of the stuff in the background.. it will be interesting to see where this case goes with regard to the public's interest in the case now that the "blood" we've all been calling for has been shed.

When I read this all I see is

Everybody look at me! I'm so open minded! Look how fair I am! I'm more fair than everyone else! Everybody look at me!

  9. Everyone misses the Big 8. It was a really good conference. But once TV money got involved it was doomed.

So far we all like the Big Ten just fine. It's a good conference. We go to the Big House this year and to Ohio State next year. We have to go to Happy Valley this year the week before we go to Ann Arbor so that is a tough couple of games.

  10. this thread is still going? let's just chalk it up to Bo knowing we weren't going to throw against MSU, and therefore Turner wasn't going to be used. If we're going to pound the rock, Turner and his 160lb frame is the last person you want out there blocking. Hence Enunwa/Kinnie getting more time. end of story, lets not read into it any more than that. If he doesn't play against northwestern - then begin to speculate.

Nobody wants to talk about Northwestern for some reason. That is why this is still going on.

How about that Dan Persa? Persamania gonna run wild on the Huskers! :moreinteresting

  11. Really people...let OU. vs NU. RIP. I remember watching the '71' game vividly and I can let it go. Lots of rampant insecurity going on here with that one. Cut the cord and fly Nebraska fans...You've got one thing that no other team in major college football can say they have...The best record over the last 40 years. Thats the most important tradition...Do I hear 50? Can I at least get an amen?

All people are doing is looking back on the NU/OU rivalry with nostalgia. It is not some pining, jilted-ex-girlfriend thing. It was good football and it was fun. There's nothing wrong with remembering it fondly. There's nothing wrong with thinking it might be fun to play them again, just like it's not wrong to think about playing Oregon, Boise St., Kansas, Iowa State, Missouri, Notre Dame, or to discuss upcoming games against UCLA, Miami, or anyone else.

The concept that you can't speak fondly about Oklahoma is more annoying than the people speaking fondly about Oklahoma.

With the exception that most of you come off like clingy, whiny, jilted ex-girlfriends. For christ's sake...let it go. It is sentiment that is, percentage wise, very one sided. With the majority of piners coming from the NU side...certainly not worth a 3 page message string. Have a little self respect and dignity.

    Someone is Projecting.
