  1. Again.. my question isnt on closing all recruits... It is about closing the bigs.

His offensive style is going to be fast paced I assume... I wonder if he has a hard time selling that to big guys because in his offense it wont run through the center.

The 5 and 4 might be more of a defensive presence.

That is my question, can he close big men?

I think it's harder to get bigs because there are less of them. You have a lot more competition from established programs for those kind of players. If you miss on a PG or Wing you still have options. For the big fella's that's not necessarily true. So I don't think it has to do with scheme or style. I think it has to do with numbers and winning. Facilities definitely help. Just my opinion.

  2. I read an article that said his type of injury doesn't carry a lot of future risk so that's good news for him. I am going to guess he will go in the 2nd round (pick number 43) to the Twins. Time will tell.

That'd be terrible (for NU), but very likely.

Yah. He would be an awesome replacement for Rich in CF. I was just thinking about how we are going to replace next years position players. Cox or Fandel might be the replacement for Christensen. (Fandel might end up catching though) Leuty & Only to battle it out for either 1st or 3rd depending upon where Headley plays.

  3. It's "Tommie". And, no. People are myth-builders. Not even Jordan quites lives up to his legend.

Wow. That is a pretty amazing statement. What do you back that one up with?

Jordan did get away with a lot of palming, carry the ball, traveling and favorable calls. For some players they changed the games rules to stop them and for others they let them slide. Didn't Jordan himself say that there were more talented players after losing a game of 1 on 1 onetime?

  4. So how important is this transfer?

    IMO

It's a good pickup, because our top 3 tackles are Sr's this year (Qvale,Sirles,Arod) and he's experienced so he should be able to get on the field right away, either as a starter or in the rotation. Sterup, Price and Finnin are the guys I believe he would be competing with. He sounds versatile and could play guard as well. Plus it's nice that he will have a year to adjust to Nebraska, get stronger and get experience in our system before the clock starts ticking.

To me this evens out the Moore transfer. (more or less)

  5. I would say he values size at corner because of his preference for jamming receivers at the line and knocking them off their routes. They also seem big on hand checking down the field. This physical style is easier with bigger guys. Even dennard, who wasn't that tall, was well built. Mitchell seems to be the big exception, but he has better quickness and ball skills than most.

Another benefit to recruiting bigger corners is roster flexibility in that they can move to peso or safety.

    Agree. Good points

  6. Will he be a better CB or S at the next level? We have a good number of Safety talent coming in (LeRoy Alexander, Nathan Gerry, Drake Martinez, Luke Gifford) We're really needing some CB's at this point with Boaz Joseph being the only guy from last year and Charles Jackson being the only one from the year before.

Agree. We need corners. Having said that Bo seems to like cb's that have a lot of safety type attributes. That must be because they play match up zones moreso than straight man lock down coverage?
