Surprises
1) FB makes a comeback.
2) 5 man line on D
3) Offense sets a school record for number of long TD's
Possible Failures
1) Lack of depth at QB,RB,TE and LB could make injuries hard to overcome
2) QB&WR not on same page on option routes.
3) Fumbles by Freshmen skill players

I'm still on the caveman bandwagon. I think his upside wayyyyy above Allen and it shows this year.
GBR!!
I have also joined the clan of the caveman.
I wonder if we will see a 5 man line at times as we are a bit thin at LB but deep at DT. I think Martin&Meredith can both stand up and cover if needed. The pair reminds me of the Travis Hill and Jeff Mills combination.
Martin Ankrah
Crick Rome Peete
Randle Moore Guy
Baker Jackson Williams
Meredith Williams
lb
David Fish
Compton Roach

Thanks for the info. Sounds good!

From the 2 games I saw, Broekemeier is very accurate and can throw on the move. Has good arm strength and touch. More of a pass first QB, he will keep his eyes down field when flushed and looks to throw on the scramble. Can run if need be as he has decent mobility and speed. Passing is his strength though. Very smart I think he does a good job of finding the open receiver. Broekemeier has to put on some muscle. Needs a couple of years to mature. I think he is going to be contending as a Junior & Senior. I'm thinking a Todd Reesing type of player and that this offense fits him to a T. (If it's like the Kansas offense.)

My depth chart
RE Martin, Ankrah,Carter
DT Crick, Randle
DT Baker, Moore or Rome
RE Meredith, Williams,
We are much deeper. I call it a push though.

I replied over at ESPN and I'll reply the same here. I think Eric Martin is going to have a breakout season at DE. I think he's going to be an unaccounted XFactor for Nebraska.
My xfactor on defense is Martin.
My xfactor on offense is Bell.

These gloves strike me as a penalty waiting to happen. Guy scores a TD and puts his hands together and directs it to the crowd. Penalty. Guy sacks a QB hops up with hands outstretched to form the crossbones directed in the general direction of the other team. Penalty.

Back in my day, passing was impossible, because we played with a cinderblock instead of a football.
It was always good when you got to play a game with the game ball vs using practice balls that were slick, weighed 10 pounds and were 100 years old....
Kicking one of those things would break your foot.
I think Beck will be fine. I expect some improvement. Some things that I expect to see are less penalties and turnovers.

From what I remember reading somewhere the Nebraska coaches liked his footwork when he was QBing. I agree that we sign him as an athlete no matter what.
-
I hope he takes his official on Oct 8th.

Husker Illustrated radio guy said they hear Corey Raymond's name more than any other when they talk to NU recruits prospects. Sounds like he is already doing very well in connecting with recruits.
-
Ah oh. This doesnt sound good.

Excellent points.
Speaking of Scheffert, I wonder if he will be pitching more? I agree we may see him in the infield too as potentially Farmer could be going to 3rd and Scheffert back to 1st if Christensen stays at short.
Didnt know about the Darby & Black commits. Appreciate the links!

I think it is a creative solution for 2 possible scheduling issues.
1) Most BCS teams require home&home so that limits your pool, but if they have a 1 year opening and you have one. It just makes sense to arrange something at a neutral site. Arrowhead is the closest neutral site not affiliated with a college team. Split the gate and costs.
2) You could also play a non-bcs team there that has a tiny stadium. They would get to be home team and keep most of the gate, but we would still earn some gate, but even giving up most of the gate you still would earn more at Arrowhead than playing at BSU, Troy or whoever it may be.

From radio show this morning it sounds like Edmondson is a good candidate to be a commit. I'm thinking it's between him and Mr Robinson as to who commits next.
link, summary, or quotes from interview waybe?
It was the Husker Illustrated radio show at 7am. I am drawing a blank on most of it. I seem to remember them saying that the staff does it's homework and that this kid will be getting more attention when the season starts. I can't remember exactly but had a good vibe from the discussion. Sorry.
Here is a link from a different source

Scout also had an article that says he may be close to committing.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a couple position changes. Bolt and Erstad will work things "their" way and the best players will be on the field. Every time I think about husker baseball I hear those same few words. Quote: "it will be hell on the bases"
What's your take on the outfield? Rich Sanguinetti sounds like a heck of a player and Urban sounds like a really good fit. The OF spots should be highly contested.

I think the model to follow is T.O's It has proven results over a long period of time. There are more local players for that style so thus you expanded your pool of players that you have a high chance of signing. Fit's the weather better. I think it's easier for high schools to run thus you get more high schools running it and more pre trained players ready for your system.

T.O likes the outdoors and fly fishing. Colorado = fly fishing, Seattle = fly fishing. Just a theory.

I have always supported my conference mates, both in their OOC and bowl games. Their success reflects well on my school.

I am hoping that Mossey can be the starting SS and Christensen moves to 3rd. I think Christensen would be a great 3rd base vs a decent SS.
-
I think RB means that they potentially could play either the up back or an IB spot.
-
Thanks for that info. Some good stuff and some troubling stuff. INT vs Completion ratio is troubling to me.

To clarify on my part, I don't think Marsh is making any requests, he showed a desire to play QB when he was recruited and I was wondering if it would make sense to boost our numbers at that spot and give him that opportunity as he did have some success in H.S. It sounds like most folks would prefer him to stay at safety which I am okay with.

IF Nebraska games are blocked because COX and TIME WARNER are too greedy to make this compromise they will destroy their reputation in Nebraska. They will lose customers. They will lose revenue. The bad thing for them is they are not only impacting their own customers they are impacting the entire state. This means they are alienating possible future customers as well. It doesn't really matter who's fault it is customers have to deal with the PROVIDER and that's the cable companies. They will suffer bottom line consequences for not making a compromise. I don't think they understand.
