As much as I practice, I tried to finagle some kind of range pass or membership option at Indian Creek. But they were having none of it. I think they are pretty much printing money out there right now. They are running a good operation; I don't know what their Super is getting paid but probably deserves a raise!

EDIT: I'm was just thinking about their course conditions again...

Setting aside other smaller tournaments, I've played:

    • 2013 Missouri Am @ Blue Hills CC
    • 2014 Kansas Am @ Mission Hills CC
    • 2015 Kansas Am @ Wichita CC
    • 2016 Kansas Am @ GC at Southwind
    • 2017 Kansas Am @ Kansas City CC
    • 2018 Kansas Am @ Firekeeper
    • 2019 Nebraska Am @ Lincoln CC

Indian Creek on any random summer day has had better conditions than any of those!

I would put Indian Creek in my top 5 as far as course conditions go and I've been fortunate to play some really nice courses (Torrey Pines South, Seven Canyons, Wildhorse, Awarii Dunes). Not sure it cracks the top 5 for me if you consider scenery as Elkhorn doesn't really compare to Sedona, AZ or Breckenridge.

One of my favorite courses I've played was a links style course that we played in St Louis last summer called Aberdeen Golf Club. I also really enjoyed playing ColdWater Creek in Ames when I had to travel there a couple summers ago. I've been pretty lucky to get on some nice courses throughout the years.

I love the course, it is awesome...Just wish it was a little cheaper.  We used to play out there all the time, that first hole, I think a par 5 onn red feather...god I hate that f#&%ing hole.

I look at it like I can either pay $50 to go play Stone Creek/Tiburon/Pac Springs or I can throw an extra $10 down and go play a far superior course. Even the Omaha city courses are $45-$50 on a weekend.

  3. Get to see this kid workout 2-3 times a week due to my gym being attached to where he takes 1 on 1 lessons. One of the nicest families you can meet and Hunter is quite possibly the most humble/hard working kid I've met. Will be interesting to see where he ends up going. It's a long shot but if a Duke offer were to come his way that is his dream school and would end things immediately.

I have only played Wildhorse, and only played it 3 times over 2 days, but I loved it.  The wide open prairies, the large target areas off the tee, and general sense of being away from everything.  It's such a fun experience, and gives a sense of links golf, although I still played golf "through the air".

I really want to go play The Prarie Club near Valentine, but don't really have anyone to go play with.  Maybe when my son gets older, we can take a father-son weekend up there.

I've played Wildhorse once and it was one of my favorite courses I've played to date. Still need to get out and play Bayside. Prarie Club is on the must play list as well if I can find a group of buddies to go with me.

I never liked Pac Springs.  Stone Creek is too easy, and I barely remember Tiburon.

Tiburon and Stone Creek are very similar. 27 holes and fairly wide open. Also takes about 5 1/2 hours to play a round out there.

I used to work for the city at Westwood Heights golf course, so we call Gene all the time.

I liked playing Applewood/Johnny Goodman.  It wasn't a bad track for a muni.

The city courses have come a long way. Benson is usually in pretty good shape. I prefer Benson/Knolls/Goodman any day over Pac Springs/Stone Creek/Tiburon.

Buddy and I went and played Indian Creek a few weeks back. To me that's the best value course in the city.

    Applewood, this is Gene.....

Got a good laugh out of that. Even though it's an older course I enjoy playing there. Actually makes you hit different golf shots compared to some courses around here that are wide open and you can miss 3 fairways either way

  8. Played Johnny Goodman over the weekend. Forgot how undulated those greens were. Every pin seemed like it was on the side of a hill. 33 putts on the day with 2 chips ins.

    that's pretty salty, well done

My goal for the year was to to shoot even for the first time ever. But between not playing as much as I'd like and a little accident cutting a watermelon my golf time has been severely limited.

holy crap wiu...7100 and you weren't even playing the tips...? and I have had Tatanka on the "future play list" since it opened, so thanks for the info

It was a long course. I think the shortest par 3 we played was 190ish. A couple monster par 4s. I shot an 84 and was thrilled with that score.

  11. Played Tatanka this year for my brothers bachelor party. Buddy of mine runs the clubhouse up there so we got a steal of a deal. If you haven't had the chance to play that make sure to add it to the list. By far the longest course I've played. Didn't pay attention to the score card and played the next to longest tees (can't remember the color). Got to about the 8th hold and looked and it was 7100 yards from the tees we were playing. A couple monster holes and if the wind is blowing good luck.

Definitely want to make it out to Dismal some day. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I'm just quoting facts and being realistic.  As all the maybes are getting their schooling straightened out.  Take it for what it is!   I think that Nebraska is behind, because we do not have a clear cut spot for him and I think the staff has been honest with him.  The longer he waits, the more I thinks he wants to be a Husker.  Does he want to wait to see if someone might leave?  Could he pay his way, redshirt and get a scholarship in 2021?  And I know nothing about reclassing.

He's got enough offers from big schools that there won't be a need to reclassify. He also has a 31 or 32 on his ACT so academics are huge for him. No idea who his top schools are here but I truly don't think Nebraska would be in his top 3 right now. Uphill battle for us for sure. Part of the problem I think was that he was the last of the MIllard North kids to get an offer.

Your dreaming, scholarship players can not be cut. He can ask them to leave,  but they do not have to.

Can he flat out cut them? No. But let's not act like he can't go up to a player and tell them he's got no intention of playing them at Nebraska. What kid sticks around after hearing that.

Bottom line is Max can flat out play. He'd be a great fit for what Nebraska does but I don't think he ends up in Lincoln.

  14. There are 2 games that come to mind for me for most fun...

The comeback against Ohio State when Braxton Miller got hurt. Went to the game with my sister and sat in the east stadium which is something I've done for 1 other game. Was just up far enough that we weren't getting wet with the rain. My last vivid memory of the game is I remember yelling "he's wide open" when T-mart "missed" Aaron Green running down the sideline on the wheel route.

The other game that comes to mind for me is the 2012 Wiscy comeback. This one was more fun because where we were sitting in south stadium was packed with Wiscy fans who let us have it after they went up 14-0. It was nice to sit there in silence and not say anything during the comeback and ultimately the win. Man they were awfully quiet on the way out.

BRB I do not claim to be a professional baseball GM but this was my biggest worry going into this season!  We've got to have better pitching to keep up with the bats that we have.

As a Cardinal fan I feel your pain. Our starters have been mediocre at best 1 time through the rotation and the "improved bullpen" blew a 4-1 lead in Milwaukee. The team that wins the Central this year will be the team that puts together some semblance of a decent bullpen and/or their starting pitching carries them. I'm really wanting the Cardinals to make a push for Keuchel or Kimbrel at this point.
