  1. The Grizzlies are looking really tough. With Randolph and Gasol down low, there isn't a team in the NBA that gets more production out of their bigs than Memphis. I can see Memphis winning this series in 6. Then hopefully they get by the winner of GS/SA because they are a matchup nightmare for the Heat.

Not really a big Memphis fan but to me they are the best chance in the West at beating the Heat. Amazing what Randolph can do without being able to jump. Gasol is by far the best center in the league and IF they get to the Heat, Miami doesn't have a big guy that can stop him.

  2. Athletically speaking Lebron might just be the tops of that list. No one will ever be the competitor that MJ was but Lebron is a physical freak. MJ is at the tops of the list as an overall player though. You knew on the last possession of the game who was getting the ball and it seemed like MJ won the battle every time.

  3. I have Michigan, tOSU and Indiana making it. Its going to be tough for MSU to get by Duke, let alone Louisville.

I actually think MSU matches up quite well with Duke. Adrian Payne will be a problem for Ryan Kelly trying to guard him. And Nix is not very tall but is a big enough body to give Plumlee problems just as Echinique did.

Not disagreeing with your opinions, but what about Payne will be a problem for Ryan Kelly? I do agree Nix can bang with Plumlee. I think Creighton was more of a matchup problem. Although Appling is tough.

Just watching MSU the first weekend Payne stood out to me as a guy who is a matchup problem. I haven't watched a ton of them this year but he seems like a very athletic 4 who hounds the glass and is very tough minded. I also think he is athletic enough to guard kelly on the perimeter or when he puts it on the floor. Kelly can shoot the ball no doubt but if you can make him put it on the floor MSU will have a definite advantage.

  5. To me the talent just is not there. Look back at the pitching we had back in the mid 2000's. Power arms were everywhere on our roster back then. I just don't see many of those on the team right now. Hopefully Erstad and Silva are addressing this.

  6. I honestly think that the South region is the most wide open. No way UNC should have been an 8 seed. They were more like a 5-6. KU, Georgetown, Florida, Michigan and VCU all have a real shot at winning the region. Minnesota, UCLA and UNC are all sleepers that if they play to their potential could rattle off a few in a row and make some noise.

  7. The hit was clean, he had too foul and Akoy AND the team showed great restraint. Congrats to The Omaha Central Eagles on another championship and to Papio LaVista for not giving up.

That hit wasn't even remotely clean. Completely dirty move by that kid that he got a flagrant for. I thought he should of been kicked out for it.

Agree. My group all thought there was enough there to toss him if the refs decided they wanted to. That was bad.

If you watch the replay, and I am in no way defending what he did, but you can see he reaches around with both hands, he did not "tackle" him. Now I agree with the foul just don't think it was malicious.

If the kid was running even with the kid dribbling then I wouldn't see a problem with it. But because he was behind him and tried to wrap him up it may have made it look worse than what it was. Could have been avoided. Kid just didn't want to give up a dunk.

The situation could have turned ugly in a hurry. Credit to the Central coaches for separating things quickly.

Is this Central team the best the state has ever seen? I ask because I'm only 24 and don't know much about previous teams from the state.

  9. PLV player thought it was the state football final I guess. Just straight tackled a Central player.

    Any video on it?

it was a solid grab and takedown of Hollins on a break away. Prey sure Akoy was about to throw down if he wasnt restrained

It was Akoy and Thurman. Not sure what the PLV player was thinking. Assuming he didn't want to give up a dunk. Not the way to go about it though.

  10. Didn't get to see any of Tigers round yesterday but if it was anything like he is playing today everyone else could be in trouble for the rest of the year. I think he finally feels completely comfortable with his swing and a putting lesson from Stricker is definitely paying off. Has 14 birdies already.

  11. As so many on this board like to point out with Martinez, it isn't about the numbers.... Compton was a decent LB, but I'd take Te'o at LB every time....

Martinez's numbers become irrelevant because of the QB's he is being compared to, and him being one of the only couple QB's to play 4 years (NU History). This is different, but I guess the numbers of tackles and sacks in a season is irrelevant? Weird... Jarvis Jones, by far was the best LB last year, and wasn't even mentioned to be a candidate. 14.5 sacks alone. That is not mediocre. Manti Te'o, average.

    Jarvis Jones>Will Compton>Manti Te'o

The one thing I can proudly say, is Compton never got embarrassed like Te'o did in the MNC.

Ohio st. 2012, Wisconsin 2011 & 2012, Michigan 2011, Georgia 2013.... The "embarrassment " list could go on for awhile. Against UCLA this past year Compton was humiliated, along with the rest of the D.... Don't get me wrong, Compton was a nice LB, but I would take Te'o first, but not by a whole lot....

Compton got embarrassed while trying to chase down RB and QB in space. Te'o was embarrassed when plays were run right at him and he flat out couldn't make a play. Compton was usually very solid in his run stops from what I can remember.

I still do not understand the love fest for Te'o. I never really thought he was that good and now that all these combine numbers have come out it honestly really doesn't surprise me that much.

  12. I use this irons currently. Love them. I usually shoot lower to mid 80s. I find these irons very easy to hit and they look great too. Didn't add any distance to my iron play (probably will for you considering the upgrade) but I felt so much more comfortable with these irons.

  13. This is all leading up to the first annual HB golf tourney, don't ya think?

That would be something I would definitely be interested in. Have to sign up with board names though.

As for hybrids I have been considering switching my 4 iron for a couple years. Not sure what the benefit would be though as there aren't many courses I play that force me to hit long irons for 2nd shots.

  14. I really wish i had loads of free time. I do have lots, and use a lot of it on my PS3 or Netflix but i still wish i had more to power through what i want to accomplish. First off, i never really had full appreciation of Netflix until my roommates introduced me to few T.V series that i had never really watched. I don't really watch movies on it, unless there is a decent one that i haven't seen, but it is excellent for T.V shows. So without further adu this is what i have watched and or need to finish.

That is my goal so far is to somehow get through all of this. If anyone would have any info or recommendations, i am considering Weeds, Parks and Rec, Prison Break, Storage Wars, or Trailer park boys.

I have already completed the entire seasons of Breaking Bad, American Horror Story, Pawn Stars, The League, Workaholics, Family Guy, South Park, and Futurama.

Wow there is way too much sh#t on Netflix and not enough time.

Not sure if Weeds has any new episodes out as i dont have showtime. I can say that seasons up to 5 were good. A little slow at the beginning but gets better and better as it goes. Roommates and I found it ondemand in college a few years back and watched 5 seasons at an hour an episode in a little over 2 weeks.

  15. I would love to say we could be in the top half of the B1G but I'm not sure it'll happen that soon. We were rarely (if ever) in the top half of the Big XII which - even with a lot of firepower at the top in KU, UT and perhaps another team or two from time to time - was no where near as deep as the B1G is now.

There are currently five B1G teams ranked in the Top 25 and Illinois and Minnesota have both been ranked at different times this year which means you basically have to be a Top 25 team to get to the top half of the B1G. I like Miles and I think we will get better but I'm afraid that is a lot higher mountain to climb than some are giving it credit for.

Our biggest problem is there are too many competitive D-1 schools out there thus there are a lot of places top recruits can go that have a lot more basketball tradition and are a lot closer to home than Lincoln, NE.

I would expect us to be a fringe NCAA team - perhaps every 3-4 years - but win some games in the NIT. Hopefully some sort of postseason tournament most years.

There is no reason for what you mention above not to happen in the future. Only problem is with all the money we are pumping into the program I think fans and boosters will want/expect more than that. OSU, IU, MSU, UM will always be ahead of us unless something crazy happens. The addition of Maryland will open up more recruiting grounds. If Nebraska can finish anywhere from 5th-8th every year in the league we will be a bubble team or highly seeded NIT team. This would be good for our program and if we do this consistently it could open the door for some big time recruits that see us as being a player or two away from something special.

I agree. But that will be a 10-15 year process, not a 2-3 year process. And when you start to go out that far, there are a lot of other things that could happen, not the least of which is another coaching change - for whatever reason, good or bad.

Agreed that its more of a long term process than an overnight fix. I just hope they keep Miles around and give him a chance. I think he is the right man for the job right now. If he can build a winner the fan support will be there. Nebraska fans are ready for a winning basketball team.
