  1. Hey man, Im looking forward to it. I own two companies down here in Alabama and very rarely get to take any time off. I will definitely get out on Friday night. We are kind of thinking about getting into Lincoln on Thursday evening so that we will have the entire day on Friday to visit the campus, restaurants, goof off and so on. I will definitely tail gate with Husker fans on Saturday if they dont mind us being there. Thanks again
  2. Thanks again to the both of you, I am really enjoying getting to know some of you Nebraska fans. And by the way, I also attend a couple of Troy games per year. I have watched them play since about 1978 as I only grew up 30 miles from Troy. By the way, if any of you guys ever head down around Panama City Beach Florida, let me know if you need info. as I have grown up running around down on the Gulf Coast and know it like the back of my hand. Take care
  3. da skers, awesome info. I am very appreciative of you taking the time to explain all of that to me. I would love to tour the stadium. Great great info man....Hey man, I will be wearing my teams colors. We probably brought a couple of thousand to the Auburn game, Im not expecting that at your stadium as Auburn was only 5 hours from Chattanooga. I expecting us to bring 700-1000 fans up there. As I said earlier, our coach Russ Huesman has already been courted by some major programs because he basically took over a program that had hit rock bottom and has gotten things moving in the right direction. Not to sound negative about our team, but you wont have any trouble taking control of this game, but you will see a team that will play with class and not quit. I told people last year, we stuck 24 on Auburn and to be honest, could have put a couple of more touchdowns up with a little break here and there. So they can score some points, we just want be able to slow you down a bit on offense. But were getting there, hopefully this will help our team get ready for our conference, which just happens to be the best in the country in FCS. We consider it a great honor for our little team from Chattanooga to don the pads in such a coveted place as Memorial Stadium. Trust me, our quarterback is a stud. Not only is he great player but he is already like a coach on the field. Watch this quick interview with him. You will see what I mean. The kid is a 6'5 gun slinger. Auburn could not stop him. In my opinion, he is the 2nd best player in school history behind Terrell Owens. Just thought some of you might want to see this. He is probably one of the most well spoken college football players that I have personally ever seen. There is other stuff online that is probably better, this is what found the quickest. Thanks again, if I am boring you with this stuff, I apologize in advance.
  4. Thanks Minnesota, good info.. Your right Bham...UAB has been pretty impressive to me in such a short exsistance into football. Jacksonville ST. is considering a move into FBS ... My personal opinion is that pound for pound, Troy is the scrappiest bunch in the state..Take care
  5. I prefer the Brick Pit on Shell Rd. when in Mobile. I have eaten at the Dreamland there before. AS for the Alabama and Auburn fans, I can tolerate the Bama fans, because they indeed have a tradition. But Auburn fans disgust me. It is obviously a win at all cost attitude at Auburn. But to be honest, I would pull for Troy over Auburn or Bama any day..Take care
  6. Awesome info. I am actually going to print this thread, so that I have all of this information. I really appreciate it. I will definitely drink out of a Husker Red Cup to show my respect to the tailgating party. Thanks again
  7. Thanks Knap, Great site you have by the way. Since I have never been your area, I really dont know who is joking or being serious, so I do appreciate it. Take care
  8. Also wanted to say that Chattanoogas Finley Stadium is a state of the art small college stadium, seats around 25K with sky boxes, etc. was the home of the former Div. 1AA Championship for many years. Also wanted to say, dont be surprised that Chatt. will move the ball up and down the field a little bit. They did it against Auburn, the qb at Chatt. could start anywhere in the country, he is a 5 star recruit that left Tennessee a few years back when Lane Kiffin arrived at UT. His name is BJ Coleman, he is 6"5 about 230 and rated the 17th best qb in college football in next years draft. He can sling it. His dad is a former player at Chatt. . His brother just signed with the Mocs and could have gone to much bigger schools. The nickname the Mocs, comes from an Indian Tribe from the area the Moccasin Indians. The Tennessee River runs through campus and has a big bend in the river called Moccasin Bend.
  9. Yeh man, there is a team forum www.mocfans.com ...Dont be disappointed, I will tell you up front, it is nothing like your guys forum with so many members and active threads. It is a typical small college forum, but it will get busier as the season gets closer. Please check it out. Hey man, after you trounce us, I would ask that you pull for us through the rest of the FCS schedule. I actually played at Chatt with a guy that his dad played at Nebraska in the early 70s and boy did he love the Cornhuskers. If Im not mistaken, Nebraska came down and rolled Auburn up pretty good when Dave Rimington was at Nebraska when I was younger. I personally have alot of respect for your program and that is why I am going to take it as an opportunity to catch a game there. Kind of a bucket list thing for a football fan. If any of you have any questions about the Mocs, please dont hesitate to ask me and I will give an honest answer. One side note, Chattanooga has one win over the Tennessee Vols, there was actually a riot in Chattanooga after this win. Chattanooga had a legendary coach in the 60s and 70s named Scrappy Moore ( Bear Bryant was his mentor) that had some great success. Chattanooga has had a fair amount of NFL players with the most famous T.O. Terrell Owens. Chattanooga had the 137th overall pick in the draft this year to Cleveland, a speedy defensive back named Buster Skrine, whom just happened to turn the best 40 yd dash time in the combine for defensive backs. Some coaches that left Chattanooga to greener pastures, The late Joe Morrison left Chatt. for the South Carolina job, Tommy West left Chatt for the Clemson job, Buddy Nix ( my coach) current General Manager of the Buffalo Bills, Buddy Greene left and is now Defensive Coordinator at Navy. Sorry if I am boring you, but I know there is not alot of information out there on us due to the size of our school. Chatt. is used to playing in big venues though, in the last several years have played Auburn, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Tulane in the Superdome, Boise State, Colorado State, Oklahoma, Florida State to name a few. Chatt is in the Southern Conference, the power team of the conference is Appalachian State, and to be honest with you, is probably the only school in the conference that you will here me say, can line it up with anybody in the country and give them a fight. No team in the country should ever take Appalachian State lightly, or you could end up with your tail tucked between your legs. Furman, Georgia Southern,The Citadel are also fairly competitive. Appy State as we refer to them had the most draft picks in the conference this year with 3. I dont know if any of you saw the television show on MTV a few years ago about Hoover High School in Birmingham Al. but one of the stars of the show was a defensive back named Max Lerner, he is an all conference defensive back at Furman. All of the So Con ( this is what we refer to our conference as) teams will play at least one money game per year. Just some tid bits. Our school athletic site, which is actually pretty nice, is www.gomocs.com
  10. Sounds good on the tailgating...FT. Walton, thats a town thats not to shabby. My wife is from Panama City..
  11. Or some fresh Appalachicola oysters and some Gulf Shrimp....I am ways from TTown...but I like the idea.....
  12. Hey man, thanks for that little ranking system, thats great. very helpful, much appreciated.
  13. Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Not to sound like a bad parent, okay Im gonna sound like a bad parent, the hell with it, but I am going to party a little bit. My daughter knows when I go to a game Im gonna have a little fun. So thanks for the info. . You guys are great, thanks again
  14. First of all, I would like to say thanks to all of you for you input. I have heard nothing but great things about Nebraska fans as I am located only about 30 minutes from Troy University. I grew up watching Troy in Div. 2 and make their way to Div. 1A football. The fans I have spoken to have said nothing but great things about Nebraska's fans. I played football at Chattanooga in the mid 1980s. We were a much more formidable opponent in those days as we went toe to toe with Florida State, Auburn an Georgia Tech in those days. My former coach at Chattanooga is now the General Manager of the Buffalo Bills Buddy Nix, he was a good football man. We had a pretty good program for years but at this level, if a coach has success, he doesnt stay around very long and opts for the big money. These quick coaching turn arounds is what destroyed our program. Coach Russ Huesman is a former player and a class act. You guys want have much of a problem with us, but you will see a very disciplined team that will always play with class and I am very proud of that. I am taking this an opportunity to spend a nice weekend with my daughter(17 years old) as we always try to go to one Chattanooga home game and one away game. We went to the Auburn game last year and watched Scam Newton run all over the place, sorry for the dig, but I could resist. After all, I am in the heart of Auburn country where I live here in Dothan, Al. in Southeast Alabama. I am trying to get a hotel reservation , tickets and air line reservations within the next month. I would like to stay walking distance from most attractions there in Lincoln , because I would rather not even have to rent a car. I would rather take cabs or whatever from the Airport. Thanks for the great suggestions and trust me, I am taking notes. And yes, I would love to tailgate with you guys, if I could figure out how, I would even bring some good old Alabama moonshine up there, but dont know if I can make it through the pat down in the airport with that under my coat. Lets keep in touch, because I would love to hang with some of you, I will even kick in for the food and drinks. Our little team is honored and excited to be your first opponent under a new conference affilation for you guys. You guys take care and I look forward to my first visit to Nebraska. Go Mocs....
