Car Dealership promising to top off your gas tank, change your erl, and wash/detail your car just for test driving a new G37...Which they promised to lease for $250/month so you don't suspect they're trying to get ~40K for it... I liked that number 37 for some reason, and the dealership was less than 20 miles from work..I'd been considering replacing my car before the end of the year sales push, but procrastinated too long or slept in over the Holidays to avoid depression but heard the ad on the radio. and figured I'd give it a try, set up a 3:00PM appointment with the sales lady figuring this time I'm going to be really careful deciding on a new ride.. They sure get mighty upset if you don't buy the car on the first day... I drove 4 different ones around the block..A mile on the freeway..Then they mention something about $6K down.. tax & license..negative equity..I mention something about wanting to beat the 5PM traffic..Sales Mgr. insists they're selling me a new car tonight and will enjoy gridlock..I let it slip out that I had'nt eaten breakfast yet or slept more than a hour the last couple of days...Made them smell blood.. Haggle Haggle..Can you do $500/month with only $4000 down? to 3 hours later of more numbers...involving my trade in that I owe $1500 more than they can give me...and since it's got over 104,000 miles on it, it could break down any second..those Accords!!! with a few 20 minute intervals where I'm offered water while the two going to another room to make faces at me and decide just how to keep me there longer... All the while I was wishing they'd started fixing up my car..washing filling fluids..gassing it up..a couple of hours ago..or five..But I say I need to go..ask for my keys back..directions to the nearest gas station (hint hint) and freeway.."I don't get this far into Flagstaff that much" (what I call North Phoenix). The busty sales girl from Iowa then mentions something under her breath about the gas/wash/oil special thing..the sales manager again asks what would it take to make a sale tonight...I want to compare other brands/look up some specs/compare prices/ get some sleep before I have to go to work at 6am with an hour drive home and a half hour commute back to work..Mgr said only the owner can issue the "gift cards" and had just gone home..and We'll have to have you come back tomorrow to pick it up and show you some more cars.
