Strategy Question

Recommended Posts

I didn't play football, and I haven't coached football,l so if I am missing something obvious in football strategy because I am lacking those traits I apologize.

However, when we are down 16-7 and on A&M's side of the field with two field goal kickers with strong legs, why did we go for it on 4th down rather than kick a field goal and maybe get within 7?

Everyone complained last year when we had a field goal kicker that we wouldn't even try long field goal kicks, but now that we have two that can hit long field goals, it seems the coaches think we still have the old kicker.

Not saying it would have made a difference in the outcome of the game, but to me it is just another example of the bad coaches we have.

I truly believe that Callahan has no confidence in our defense. He actually realizes that if we don't score a touchdown there they will on the next series. He doesnt want to trade touchdowns for field goals. Which makes sense but when you are struggling sometimes confidence is just scoring points even if it is only a field goal.

Oh yeah and because he has his head up his ass.
