Nebraska women win

Recommended Posts

The Nebraska women's basketball team's 82-35 blowout over Southeastern Louisiana began with a couple of lengthy delays 10 seconds in as crews tended to the arena's malfunctioning timer.

Kiera Hardy scored 14 points, Jina Johansen added 10 and Chelsea Aubry finished with 11 points and a career-best nine rebounds as the Huskers improved to 5-2.

Nebraska's Jessica Gerhart, who entered the game averaging 14.5 points, scored a season-low seven Wednesday but still managed to pull down a career-high 11 boards.

NU never trailed, and 10 of the 11 Huskers who got into the game all scored at least five points.

Nebraska led 35-14 at the break, after Southeastern Louisiana made just 5 of 28 shots (17.9 percent) over the opening 20 minutes. The Lions' 14 first-half points go in the books as the second-worst total for a Husker opponent in program history.

"I think we just kind of got on a roll, and they couldn't get anything to fall," Johansen said. "It just kind of snowballed from there."
