Media names Lucky All-Big 12

Chase Daniel of Missouri was named preseason Big 12 offensive player of the year, Auston English of Oklahoma was selected as the league's defensive player of the year, and Darrell Scott of Colorado was chosen newcomer of the year in a conference media poll.

Senior running back Marlon Lucky was the only Nebraska player named as a first-team all-conference choice. Missouri had eight first-team picks, and Oklahoma six.

Texas had just two.

Daniel was the 2007 Big 12 offensive player of the year. The fiery 6-0, 225-pounder finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy balloting after throwing for a school-record 4,306 yards and 33 touchdowns.

English was named first-team all-Big 12 last season as a sophomore. The 6-3, 257-pound defensive end led the Big 12 and ranked 15th nationally with 9.5 sacks despite missing three games due to injury.

Scott, a 6-2, 215-pound freshman tailback, earned All-America honors from Parade, Prep Star (Dream Team), SuperPrep and USA Today as a high school senior. He rushed for 2,433 yards and 33 touchdowns as a senior.
