Opitz ready for his chance

Through the first seven games, Anderson platooned the left-handed hitting Opitz, Colorado's 2004 player of the year from Heritage High in Littleton, with the right-handed swinging Wehrle, a three-time Super-Stater from Papillion-La Vista. But with Wehrle out, Opitz will be a mainstay in the lineup.

NU seeks perfection in home opening stretch

With 10 games in 10 days, it'd be hard to expect any college baseball team to come out of that stretch without a loss.

Huskers Sweep South Dakota State

Lincoln – Lincoln natives Alex Gordon and Andy Gerch combined to go 10-for-12 with three homers, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored, powering No. 22 Nebraska to a sweep of South Dakota State, 15-1, 15-3 at Hawks Field Saturday afternoon.

Huskers wake up bats in doubleheader sweep

How appropriate that St. Elizabeth's Regional Medical Center was the corporate sponsor for Nebraska baseball Saturday.

During their 15-1 and 15-3 hammerings of South Dakota State, the Huskers definitely had a lot of players get well.
