Eric the Red
Opitz ready for his chance Through the first seven games, Anderson platooned the left-handed hitting Opitz, Colorado's 2004 player of the year from Heritage High in Littleton, with the right-handed swinging Wehrle, a three-time Super-Stater from Papillion-La Vista. But with Wehrle out, Opitz will be a mainstay in the lineup. NU seeks perfection in home opening stretch With 10 games in 10 days, it'd be hard to expect any college baseball team to come out of that stretch without a loss. But that's exactly what Nebraska's baseball team is hoping for. Huskers Open Homestand vs. South Dakota State Fri. March 11 vs. South Dakota State (1-6) Hawks Field 2:05 p.m.Sat. formerfan
Huskers win 7-2 Still kindof skeptical about the baseball team. The O is pretty lethargic, and the staff has yet to face the kind of competition that it will in the Big 12. I hope they continue to improve, crossing my fingers. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Huskers Down Jackrabbits, 7-2 Lincoln – Joba Chamberlain (Lincoln, Neb.) allowed one run and fanned nine over seven innings, as Nebraska topped South Dakota State, 7-2, Friday afternoon at Hawks Field. Chamberlain fans 9 as Huskers roll Joba Chamberlain struck out nine South Dakota State batters over seven innings and Brandon Fusilier and Brandon Buckman each had a pair of hits as the Cornhuskers beat the Jackrabbits 7-2 Friday afternoon in Lincoln. formerfan
Seems like NU did what they needed to do today by 10-running SDSU in each game. Kroenke seemed to pitch better. Any word on Duensing and to why he did not get a start this weekend, and to why he only pitched 1 inning so far this weekend? Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Huskers Sweep South Dakota State Lincoln – Lincoln natives Alex Gordon and Andy Gerch combined to go 10-for-12 with three homers, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored, powering No. 22 Nebraska to a sweep of South Dakota State, 15-1, 15-3 at Hawks Field Saturday afternoon. Huskers wake up bats in doubleheader sweep How appropriate that St. Elizabeth's Regional Medical Center was the corporate sponsor for Nebraska baseball Saturday. During their 15-1 and 15-3 hammerings of South Dakota State, the Huskers definitely had a lot of players get well. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Homers Propel Huskers to 17-4 Win Lincoln -- Curtis Ledbetter (Lawrence, Kan.) and Brandon Fusilier (Coppell, Texas) tied a NCAA and school record with two homers in an inning, as No. 22 Nebraska completed a sweep of South Dakota State with a 17-4 victory Sunday afternoon.
