Pizza Casserole

 

3 cups uncooked spiral pasta

2 pounds ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cans (8-ounces each) mushroom stems and pieces, drained

1 can (15 oz.s) tomato sauce

1 jar (4 oz.s) pizza sauce

1 can (6 oz.s) tomato paste

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

4 cups (16 oz.s) shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1 package (3-1/2 oz.s) sliced pepperoni

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

 

Prep: 20 minutes

Bake: 30 minutes

 

Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a Dutch oven, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the mushrooms, sauces, tomato paste, sugar and seasonings. Drain pasta; stir into meat sauce.

 

Divide half of the mixture between two greased 11x7x2-in. baking dishes; sprinkle each with 1 cup of mozarella cheese. Repeat layers. Top with pepperoni and Parmesan cheese. Cover and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Uncover; bake 10-15 minutes or until heated through. Yield: 2 casseroles.

 

Pizza Casserole:

 

1 1/2 lb. hamburger

1 cup onion, chopped

1 cup green pepper, chopped

1 clove garlic

1/2 teaspoon oregano

1 dash salt

1/2 cup water

1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

1 package spaghetti sauce mix, (1.5 oz.)

1 cup milk

1 cup flour

1 tablespoon oil

2 eggs

1/2 teaspoon salt

7 ounces Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese slices

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

 

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

In large skillet, brown hamburger and drain.

Stir in onion, green pepper, garlic, oregano, salt, water, hot pepper sauce, tomato sauce and sauce mix.

Simmer about 10 minutes stirring occasionally.

In a bowl, combine milk, oil and eggs.

Beat 1 minute on medium speed.

Add flour and salt.

Beat 2 minutes or until smooth.

Pour hot meat mixture into 13 x 9 pan.

Top with cheese slices.

Pour batter over cheese, covering filling completely.

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes or until puffed and golden.

 

PIZZA CASSEROLE

 

1 onion, chopped

1 1/2 to 2 lb. hamburger

1 can pizza sauce

1 can tomato sauce

2 c. twist macaroni

Salt and pepper

1 c. tomato paste

1/2 tbsp. sugar

Dash of oregano or Italian spices

6-8 slices Mozzarella cheese

Pepperoni

 

Cook macaroni. Brown meat and onion. Add salt and pepper. Mix hamburger, macaroni, pizza sauce, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and sugar. Add spices to suit taste. Place 1/2 of mixture in casserole, add a layer of cheese, then another layer of each. Top with pepperoni. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
