New home: McKillop switches from fullback to defensive end

 

 

NOTES -- Yesterday was the first day the team practiced in full pads, and the change in philosophy on offense was evident in the number of full-contact drills designed to pit blocker against tackler. "I'm excited to get started," Wannstedt said. "Pay attention, we might start hitting before we even get to stretching." ... The practice lasted about two hours and was hard-hitting and physical. "We only have about 12 or 13 practices we can go in pads, and that's not a lot of time. The only way we can become tough and physical is to go hard every time out," Wannstedt said. ... In another change, quarterbacks will be live during some of the drills as opposed to wearing green jerseys. ... Players were excited about hitting for the first time. "Now we'll see who can play and who the weight room talkers are," said defensive tackle Thomas Smith.
