LUBBOCK – Texas Tech's quarterbacks passed for 513 yards as the offense posted 24 points in the Red-Black scrimmage on Saturday.

Senior quarterback Cody Hodges threw for 237 yards on 20-of-26 passing to lead the offense.

"I thought we had a good day of work," Texas Tech coach Mike Leach said. "I thought we executed real well, but we definitely need to improve on some things on both sides of the ball. We need to develop more consistency."

The defense intercepted two passes and recorded five sacks – two by junior Keyunta Dawson. Strong safety Vincent Meeks and linebacker Sylvester Brinkley intercepted passes by Phillip Daugherty.

Daugherty completed 15 of 23 passes for 138 yards.

Walk-on quarterback Ryan Rowland, who saw increased time because of an injury to Graham Harrell, finished with 138 yards and a touchdown on 16-of-22 passing.
