Roxy Posted July 11, 2009 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Sugar Cookies..not just for Christmas: 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar 2 sticks butter 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring 2-1/2 cups flour 1 tsp.baking soda 1 tsp. cream of tartar Cream together the powdered sugar, butter, egg, vanilla and almond flavoring. Add the flour, soda and cream of tartar and mix thoroughly. Form into 2 patties, wrap & refrigerate for 1 1/2 to 3 hours. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thicknesss. Use cookie cutters or any type of cookie cutter that you want to form shapes. Bake 7 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Frost with Butter Frosting. Butter Frosting: 4 cups powdered sugar 1 stick butter 1 tsp. vanilla Milk as needed to make a spreading consistency Food coloring if desired Combine sugar, butter and vanilla.
