Lincoln – A pair of matches against Big Ten powers and a trip to Arizona State highlight the 2010 Nebraska spring volleyball schedule released today.

The Huskers will make trips to Arizona State on Saturday, April 10 (6 p.m.) and NCAA semifinalist Minnesota on Saturday, April 24 (4 p.m.). Nebraska’s lone spring home contest at the NU Coliseum will be against Illinois on Saturday, April 17 at 7 p.m., capping a full day of Husker activities around the Red/White Spring Football game.

Both reserved and general admission tickets will be sold for the match against the Fighting Illini and will go on sale at 8 a.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 3) at Huskers.com, by calling the NU Ticket Office at 800-8BIGRED or by visiting in person weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Reserved tickets are $10 with GA tickets set at $8. In addition, The Block – the Husker student seating section – will have free tickets for students to the match, but they are available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. on Huskers.com.

The Huskers open the spring with a trip to Arizona State on Saturday, April 10. The Sun Devils finished 13-17 last season and return six starters from a year ago. The trip also is a return home for Husker outside hitter Tara Mueller, as the All-American hails from nearby Scottsdale.

Illinois posted a 26-6 mark and finished 10th in the final AVCA poll. The Fighting Illini returns six of its top eight players from a team that reached the NCAA Regional Semifinals in 2009, including first-team All-America outside hitter Laura DeBruler, who ranked 13th nationally in kills per set (4.50) last season.

Minnesota reached the NCAA semifinals for the first time since 2004, posting a 28-9 record and No. 4 final ranking. The Golden Gophers’ returnees are highlighted by first-team All-America middle blocker Lauren Gibbemeyer, who averaged 3.31 kills and 1.43 blocks in 2009.

The Huskers return six starters from a team that went 26-7 and finished fifth in the final AVCA poll, including All-American Sydney Anderson, Brooke Delano and Mueller. The spring matches will also mark the debut of newcomers Lauren Cook, the AVCA National Freshman of the Year in 2009, and Morgan Broekhuis.
