Hercules
Coaches have always changed their system to fit their players. Tom Osborne going to a multiple I/option offense for Turner Gill? Barry Switzer changing from the wishbone to the I formation for Marcus Dupree? Quote Link to comment
mjmartin1970
yeah, but let's face it, shawn watson is taylor martinez's bitch. Taylor will be a GREAT college QB. I just say college, because we will have to see if he has NFL talent yet. But Taylor has talent. But, to me, it is sad, when a coach will let a player dictate what he'll do. And Watson is doing that. zoogs
How is SW letting players dictate the system? It's either "OC is stubbornly forcing square pegs into round holes" (Heh) or this. If Zac were QB at the start of the year, our offense would not look like this (at least if Zac stays healthy - moot point). But if you are going to run with Taylor out there at QB, there's no choice but to mold the offense around him. You mold the O around the QB in every case, it's just taking a raw athlete like Taylor requires more drastic changes. You always mold the system around the talents of the team. Right now I would say the talent of the team is not a whole lot, and Taylor being unhealthy/Paul being out had a lot to do with that. I can think of things we could probably have done better but it's hard to be really hard on anyone when the situation is basically a cluster(bomb) from the start. Quote Link to comment
