NEBRASKA FOOTBALL

I've been reading all the posts the last few weeks about the shape the NEBRASKA PROGRAM is in right now, first of all I have to say everyone is entitled to their opinion. Now I'm going to state mine. I'm only 34 so I've never seen them lose the way we have been the last few years and it does bother me but I'm willing to be patient. I can't believe what people are posting "FIRE CALLAHAN and his coaches, where's the freshman, why isn't this offense working, what's wrong with the BLACKSHIRTS?" First of all ask your grandparents what was going on before DEVANEY got here, they lost for 20 years before he arrived. Second ask your parents what was going on when OSBORNE took over, They wanted him FIRED also until he beat OU, Then we get to SOLICH, I wasn't to thrilled when he became Head Coach but you gotta go with what you have, and I'm sure there was backroom politics that got him hired. Solich had 4 years of Osborne recruits in the cupboard and couldn't win it. Some people can lead and some people can't and as his recruiting got worse the last couple years there needed to be a change. Now enter Steve Pederson the FIRING and HIRING could have been handled way better but what's done is done so get over it. Now we get to CALLAHAN, probally not my first choice but since no one had the balls to step up and take the job, Give him some credit - he stepped into an no win situation being that he was recently fired and the coaching search took so long. Now on to the WEST COAST OFFENSE - BE PATIENT it is going to work - Keep in mind all these other teams that switched already ran some sort of pro offense already NEBRASKA DIDN'T We have a 180 degree turn in the way that we have to recruit, CALLAHAN will get the kids here "Imagine if you owned a farm for 25 years - sold it and bought a business in LA or NY, I think alot of people would have trouble adjusting. My point is that it may take 2 - 3 years before we can return to our past glory but it will happen, So give these coaches a chance to get there recruits and philosiphy in place, Everyone is so spoiled with our past success that you sound like a bunch of kids with there hands in the cookie jar "WASN'T ME who took them" I'm originally from Omaha but I've lived in Southern California since I was 21 so all I've heard the last few years are the SC fans running their mouths, but one thing they do say is they think NEBRASKA will be back What I'm getting at is we all STUCK together when we were winning SO NOW IS REALLY THE TIME TO STICK TOGETHER - NOT POINTING FINGERS AND CALLING FOR THE FIRING OF THE STAFF!!!!!! Everyone says what great FANS we have but all this discontent is sickning. EVERYONE NEEDS TO GROW UP AND GET BEHIND THIS TEAM because that's all this state has, otherwise we'll become just another program with bandwagon fans like every other school "I'm in the city of HERO'S to ZERO'S Los Angeles" So let's all STAND UNITED and support our HUSKERS. That's just my opinon so feel free to criticize. GO BIG RED!!!!
