KIRBY
HERE IS MY TAKE ON THIS ISSUE. FIRST OF ALL THE COACHES HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT A 17-18 YEAR OLD KID DOSN'T ALWAYS KNOW WHAT HE WANTS TO DO, AND THAT THERE IS ALWAYS A POSSABILITY OF ANY OF THE COMMITTED PROSPECTS DECOMMITTING. IF THEY THOUGHT HE WAS DIFFERENT--- THEY SURELY LEARNED FOR GOING FORWARD. SECONDLY, I READ IN ANOTHER THREAD THAT HE MAY HAVE HAD A CHANGE OF HEART GIVEN HIS UP FRONT VIEWING OF THE HUSKERS PRACTICES WITH BECK, GANZ, TAYLOR ETC. COMPETITION COULD HAVE SCARRED HIM OFF. COMPETITION WILL BRING OUT THE BEST IN A FOOTBALL PLAYER. I LOOK AT IT THIS WAY. I BELIEVE BECK IS A STAR IN THE MAKING. HE WILL PUSH FOR THE STARTING ROLL IN THE SPRING AND THOUGH HE MAY NOT GET THE NOD, HE WILL BE ROTATED IN WITH TAYLOR. JUST ANOTHER THOUGHT. IF YOU LOOK AT THE STARTING QB'S IN THE NFL, I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY THAT MOST OF THEM WHERE NOT 4 STAR GUYS PER RIVALS. IT IS THE GUYS THAT CAN DEVELOPE AND HAVE CHARACTER AT WHATEVER POSSITION THAT WE NEED. CHARACTER PRODUCES STARS. ALOT OF THE TIME ALL THESE STARS PRODUCE CHARACTERS. Quote Link to comment

Or how many 4* guys made it to the NFL? without doing the actual research, i would guess the success of highly rated HS guys to the NFL is random at best. the success of College-to-NFL is almost as unknown as HS-to-College. much less HS-to-NFL! but we should at least let the guys play the college game before we peg any high schoolers as a future NFLers or busts.
