Coming for Homecoming Game. First ever game. Tips?

My family is coming next weekend for the homecoming game against Illinois.

I am a life-long Husker fan and this is my first time ever visiting Nebraska and seeing a game in Memorial Stadium.

We are visiting from the Houston area and will be staying downtown at the Holiday Inn Lincoln Downtown.

We will be arriving around noon on Saturday.

How can I truly make this first-time experience memorable?

What are some events I should attend pre and post game?

Go around the arena area and checkout the sights, Longwell's is a good eatery, has the biggest screen in the Midwest. The whole Haymarket area has good eats.

Sept. 26, 10:30 a.m. — Lawn display competition

 

Sept. 26, 6 p.m. — Homecoming parade beginning at 16th and Vine streets, continuing south on 16th Street to R Street, then west on R Street to its conclusion at 13th Street; pep rally and jester competition immediately following the parade on the Nebraska Union Plaza

 

Sept. 27, 8 p.m. — Homecoming football game vs. Illinois, Memorial Stadium; Homecoming king and queen crowned at halftime
