2024-25 Polls and Rankings

CBS Sports has come out with their Top 100+1.  Huskers come in at 101.  All 18 B1G teams are in it except for Minnesota, UCLA & Washington.

College basketball rankings: CBS Sports Top 100 And 1 best teams for the 2024-25 season - CBSSports.com

The Cornhuskers are coming off only their second NCAA Tournament bid since 1998. This was a sweet story last season, but the bounce-back could be difficult. Keisei Tominaga's off conquering the world these days; the sport will miss him so. Critically, Rienk Mast is out for the season because of a knee injury.

That lowers NU's ceiling due to Mast's vastly underrated skillset. Look for returnees Brice Williams and Juwan Gary to be high-leverage, positionless-type players, though maximizing their success could be attached to Utah transfer point guard Rollie Worster, who missed much of last season to injury.

I cannot believe this year's new look team is being rated so low - like everywhere.

Maybe it's because of an unknown factor with so many new players in a rotation.  And Mast was solid, but that production can be replaced.  And since we have 2 solid PGs this year, and added players with better shooting skill.....  I think we are being overlooked.

And that's fine.  Might take a few weeks to get them flowing together.  But ultimately, I think we have a better team that last year.  And we made the NCAA tournament last year.

So yeah, I am truly excited and looking forward to this new team.

I think it's because we typically are a nonfactor in the conference and then add a bunch of players that nobody in the conference knows about....leaves people to believe we aren't going to be very good.

I think we will be better than what they have us.  How much better is the question.

All the computer rankings I've seen have us starting in the mid-40's to mid-50's.  I think that's a pretty good starting point based on who we lost & who we gained.
