2025-2026 Portal Updates

Talk about Elvis leaving the building. In its current iteration, this is not sustainable or manageable.

Well, keep in mind that this year is a bit of an outlier as teams make moves around around the pending 105 player roster cap. After the dust settles from that, I don't think future portal seasons will be quite this wild. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if some new upheaval in college football triggered another wave.

And remember that while the overall number of players will decrease, the total number of players who receive scholarships is increasing, which on the balance I would say is a good thing.

Still, there's going to be a sizable number of players who end up without a home...

Based on relationships I have with current players this is a significant driver in why some players are advised to enter the portal. There are many inexperienced agents/representatives whose only means to create compensation analysis is to field offers.

I hadn’t thought about this but an agent would need a new transaction to create something to charge commission for. Skeezy.

Can we stop calling it College Football now?
Are they even required to go to "class" anymore?

Can you simplify this further for me? Are you saying some offers are fake and only to drive up comparable offers for negotiations? I may be way overthinking this.

They have no clue what their clients value is. They have no idea what they should demand or accept & they lack the contacts to achieve this behind the scenes. When you combine that with unrealistic expectations set to land clients and the desire to prove value to clients & potential clients it produces a lot of self-serving advice.
