2025-2026 Portal Updates

I heard that Jamorian Parker (rb)was still unsigned and that he might be looking to withdraw his name. I don't know if there is any truth to that. I feel like the running back room could use him next year as long as he stays healthy

The portal season has officially closed. Nebraska finished 36th in the portal rankings and I believe are ranked 105 in high school recruiting for 2026. I understand we had a younger roster but I was hoping we would land even more portal talent this offseason.

We may be done, but the portal season hasn't closed.

And it won't ever really be done. You technically don't need to be in the portal to transfer (Xavier Lucas' contentious transfer from Wisconsin to Miami did not involve entering the portal), but there's been some skepticism that teams and players would go that route. Given the complete impossibility of regulating tampering because agents can talk to whoever they want whenever they want and players now being willing to break contracts because they know it's unenforceable (Damon Wilson, Darian Mensah) I think there will essentially be a post-Spring portal season. It won't involve the actual portal, but players will entertain offers and transfer anyway. The only thing they would realistically be prevented from doing would be campus visits.

Yep. It's the wild wild west and it's gonna take a while to get it sorted out.
On one hand, I hate the SCOTUS and what they have done.
On the other hand, the SEC just had a "Mountain West" bowl season.
So ...

Between 35th and 45th feels about right. 105th with small HS class. Coming off a 7-6 season, no DR, and a brutal schedule next year.

Where the popcorn, because I cannot wait to watch this movie lol

Not impressed whatsoever and this is not going to cut it. The messaging is pivoting to its because we had to pay the guys on the roster to keep them here. I can respect that, keep building with what you have in house and showing belief in the current roster. But something has got to give. You either win now with what you built or show big strides in recruiting/portal. Frankly I would have leaned more on getting some dudes to shore up the issues we had. I think we did that on the OL and that’s it. Rhule has now got to develop what we have to show that he made the right move. There’s no more excuses for poor performances. Gotta win football games bottom line.
