2025 Polls and Rankings

It seems all my life aTm is rated in every pre season and early season poll. They eventually drop out as the season moves along. I guess they won a national title in 1939, but that was well before my time. I've never understood the yearly respect they get in the early season polls.
A lot of it has to do with their recruiting rankings each year. If you look back over the last 10-15 years, they've had mostly Top 20, a few Top 10, and even one #1 recruiting class. I think it's really easy (and safe) for the media and pollsters to predict good things for programs like that even if the play on the field doesn't necessarily warrant it. And that's because it's a prediction win-win; if the team sucks, they can just blame the coach aka "look at all the wasted talent." If the team does well, "look, we told you so."

still weird.. NU scores 68 and has over 700 yards of offense and were ranked 78th? How the heck does that compute
No idea. Offensively, KU was piss poor against Missouri. 226 total yards of offense.

And they couldn’t get 400 yards against a weak Fresno State defense in weak 1. Weird ranking system in my opinion.

Bc voters aren't sold on Nebraska just quite yet which is understandable bc in years past everytime we all think that Nebraska is good enough to be a ranked team we decide to shoot ourselves in the foot. One step forward 2 steps back. Matt Rhule should tell the team don't worry about the polls and if you just win then everything will fall in to place for the team.

Bro it’s based on metrics not votes.. that’s what doesn’t make sense

#12 on ESPN FPI now. Jumped 20 spots.

Projected W/L of 9.2-2.9. 99.8% chance of a bowl game. 27.4% chance of making the playoffs.

It's annoying when someone makes a ranking like this and then doesn't number them.

Ok. How about #44 on SP+? Does that make you feel better?

2 spots below Kansas State..😂😂😂😂

At some point, these statisticians should probably reevaluate their models if they want to be taken seriously. Or just don’t come out with the rankings till week 5 or so since they admit their modeling relies heavily on preseason projections.
